Sagan is almost in every post, on both best and worst moments. So many haters.
You have to wonder why, though
As a cyclist, you can't hate him, he always does everything in the race to win. Maybe they hate him personally, in that case it's just a shame

In my case it's rather simple (and perhaps unfair): His attitude, the way his fans speak and the way he rides (though different terrain) etc. makes me think of Riccó before he was caught...

I can only laugh on that comparsion, it does not fit at all. But hey, you can think what you want.
It has been better in late season after Sagan has found a bit more humility, but I don't think it's that far off if you think back on before Riccó was caught. Of course taking into account that they prefer different kinds of terrain.
- They both like to give themselves nicknames
- They both had HUGE ego's even before they got major wins
- They both had explosive development/immediate results right after changing to a shady team
- The Danish commentators pretty much use the same phrases when praising Sagan and talking about his future as they did about Riccó before his bust
I really don't want Sagan to be doped - that would be a terrible blow to the sport, but I can't help what involuntarily springs to mind when seeing him and I can't find that conclusive argument to shed the feeling for good

a) Sagan does not have a big EGO, even more, he is a very humble person, who also every time give much credit to others around him. Maybe it seems to you because of tricks and celebrations he is doing, but that is according to his words just reward to his fans, who are happy to see that. It also comes from his sportmanship nature and visible joy from riding and winning. I take that every day over boring riders, who only do what is expected...
b)Ricco was not successful as Sagan was before joining the pro ranks, which is even more strange, because he (Ricco) is believed to be doping heavily also in the junior ranks. Even then, he lacked results Sagan had from various cycling disciplines (which contains beating all his well equipped youth opponents while riding on bike from supermarket and ordinary clothes). Also i dont remember the news about Ricco having incredible strong power tests before he joined pros.
c)Danish commentator seems pretty stupid.
Sagan is not super intelligent, he is still young sportsman with lot of fame gained in little time. I would not think that some of his excesses come from him being an Ricco type asshole...

I wouldn't expect you to neither agree nor understand. Just pointing out that I'm not more of a blind hater than you are a blind fan-boy
Any other rider developing like Sagan did from 2009 to 2010 after joining one of the most dodgy looking teams in the peloton has pretty much been crucified without a chance to defend himself, but for some reason Sagan is considered a saint.
I'm not able to find historic junior-racing results, but when it comes to races included in CQ-ranking Riccó had significantly more succes before signing with a top team than Sagan had. Ricco had wins in races like Settimana Lombarda and Giro del Toscana before turning pro and then he was only mediocre in his first season.
Sagan went from doing decently in races like Dookola Mazowsza to massive success in races like California, Paris - Nice and Romandie in his first season. A much bigger leap if you ask me
I would be very interested if anyone can give me the link to a site including junior race results as well though as I didn't follow those races closely (and can remember even less from) back then.
I agree that Sagan seems more sympathetic than Riccó and that he has toned his attitude down the last half year or so. Still he's the one promoting expressions like the Hulk and the Tourminator about himself. Also his "I'm not the next Eddy Merckx, I'm the first Peter Sagan" is not humility in my ears but more of a statement saying that he will be in his own category. Of course that may be another clumsy wording from his side
The Danish commentators probably are pretty stupid - when it comes to doping at least, but I can't compare to other commentators from 2006/07.
All-in-all this is why Sagan for me pushes the same "subliminal buttons" that Riccó pushed back in 2007. For that reason I can't enjoy his wins.
Doing wheelies does not take away that feeling nor does it add to it. Plenty of crooks have been entertaining and plenty of entertainers have been honest men...
I was speaking about his off road success in 2008, he did not focus on road much prior to 2009/2010
in one year 2008:
1st MTB World Championships Juniors
1st MTB European Championships Juniors
2nd Cyclo-cross World Championships Juniors
2nd Juniors Paris–Roubaix (not more famous espoirs race)
Seems pretty talented and showing some skills to me. (to be honest, more than Giro Toscana and as i said Ricco is said to be doping heavy also in juniors).
Anyway, thanks for your thoughts, i respect them, however i never called you blind hater personally.
And about that "I'm not the next Eddy Merckx, I'm the first Peter Sagan" thing, i dont see anything cocky in it. It just says, that he should not be compared to past riders, from completely different times. And i think he deserves to being mentioned as one of his kind, or you see similar riders to compare with Sagan?
Fact is,that all the dominators across the whole sporting world are hated to some point, i know that because i have also those tendencies.
