Hmm, I'm quite surprised.
Didn't see Gougeard as a favourite. Maybe an outsider.
Also, where are the Australians? (Howson & Flakemore) Expected them both in the Top 5, but nowhere to be seen, it seems.

Howson 90th +'30. Flakemore isn't participating.

Wow that's still a good result for someone who crashed then. A bit of a shame.

Agreed, very good time after that crash.
Howson will compensate though with a very likely medal at Worlds ITT.
Van Baarle also suffered mechanical yesterday.

It's difficult to browse the web thoroughly from the edge of Grand Canyon, but I came up with that

Teunissen crashed as well. Still finished 18th at 11". |

Quite fittingly, as Coquard wins in France, Caleb Ewan takes victory in a mass sprint. Seems like AIS did a great job for him. Controlling the pack, catching the break and doing a good leadout. Rick Zabel grabs 2nd while OPQS bound Julian Alaphilippe comes 3rd.
Herklotz looses 36 seconds. Valgren looses a minute. As well as well fancied GC contender, Juan Ernesto Chamorro.

With the favourites losing time, I wonder if an outsider can take it. Let's go Kudus. |

My mind is still on Matej Mohoric for the GC.

I assume there was a badly timed crash. Chamorro was weak yesterday, but bias aside, Herklotz should really not lose any time on such a stage.
