I´m still here, but there is not much happening in my HQ...
I´m right in the middle of moving on to my new own place hopefully after that I will have more time to this! |

I'm still here, I haven't been as active recently as I've not had a race for over a motnh (before the tour of east Java which just finished) and I was on holiday in that time, I check the Twitter feed daily and do prefer using that to my HQ so once I've eventually caught up I'll probably try and make a habit of copying my useful tweets across to the HQ as and when I tweet them.

Yep I'm here. I've been trying to keep the HQ updated, but I agree that a lot of what makes the HQ's fun is interaction from other managers. I will try to be more active on that front.
I think most of the reason that activity dies out in the season is because it is mostly observation based, and there isn't really anything that managers HAVE to do, unless they are reporting races. Of course you want to be updating your HQ and discussing the races, but none of that is really required from every individual to keep the game running. If we could find a way to do something during the season that wouldn't feel like forced work, I think that would help.
Maybe something like manager interviews, or 3rd party race previews. The kind of stuff we see in the pre season.

Congrats Heine, Smowz and tshmoha!
I agree it would be nice to involve the rest of the site more.
Maybe we can start a fantasy betting game for the Man-Game as well?
And let's indeed start commenting in each other's HQ's. That should inspire many to post more updates.
I'll also experiment with posting my final reaction to a race in HQ and then posting a link to that in the race discussion thread.

If people help me then I can bring back the fantasy betting I did last season, wasn't a huge success but if the demand is there then I'll do it. |

First of all, congratulations to all the new and old daddies
About the game I'm still around as well.
I start posting in the HQ twice a month with some elaborated (I'm not very gifted and I did my best) texts but some months ago I stopped writing because of the job and (also, it's a reason) because I didn't receive any kind of feedback of my posts.
Now I'm on holidays and I want to do again some work on this.
My season is shit but I don't want anybody to even think this is the reason.

First of all, thanks for the congrats! Even though Smowzy and Heine obviously deserve them more, those newbies
As for the HQ: its indeed a bit frustrating to post several reviews without a single comment from other managers. Makes it harder to stay motivated, which is a shame, because - iirc - this season the best HQ would/will be rewarded with a bonus or something. I may be wrong though?!
A new idea: could be something like a general news-thread. Where managers could post their news - either race reports or just stories around their team or MG. This way, more people would read this stuff and it would be a place for discussions as well. I would keep the HQ though, as its a nice place to keep single rider's or team's results updated. Also in the off-season, this news-thread may be too chaotic, as the managers are more active there
As for the "keep the non-MG-members in touch": its a tough challenge to keep them interested i guess, but of course it would be nice. The MG being mentioned in the weekly news is a good thing imo, but that won't solve the problem with inactive managers. I kinda tried to get a MG-related story running, but don't think it helped the MG in some way

Maybe we could have a new award for the Man-Game: best HQ thread. That would definitely be a good motivation to write interesting stuff in it.

I'm pretty sure something like that was announced at the beginning of the season.

If I remember correctly it was something like tsmoha said - receiving a small bonus, not an actual award. I could very well be wrong though.
Also, instead of using twitter, managers maybe should post "tweets" in their team's hq thread

No internet on my computer means I will be less active until the problem is fixed. Hoping that it's fixed this week.

I like the tweets in the HQ idea ;-)
The norwegian mangame has tried to start a "newspaper" where some of the participants use information/rumours etc they get from the managers to write short articles. Something like that could be a fun way to create more interaction Could get rumours, some anonymous tips etc

@alex: I think you're correct yes. I just conceptualized the bonus as a prize hence why I said that

I struggle to post HQ updates as there seems to be no real point. I assume it's to build up the "world" but without a lot more inter-manager interaction it falls flat. A few managers put in a lot of time into their updates, which are of amazing quality. This then puts pressure on the rest, and without as much time/motivation/skill other updates dont gather the interest and thus dont appear.
I know this happens for me. I don't have the time or the motivation to put in that sort of effort (especially with a team that is decidedly mediocre in the lowest level). This does not mean i am uninterested in the game.
I love my team, but it is part of a longer project. I have little to update about, especially recently with a real lack of serious race days.
I don't think having another site Award will help. As i said some people just have more time and skill, which instantly eliminates 80% of MG managers from winning such a prize, and guess what, activity stays the same.

After the Tour I plan on starting a fortnightly blog where I discuss things like that as well as doing detailed histories of various riders from the history of the man game. If you want an example find Smowz's blog posts before last season.

I have a big announcement to write about in my Teams HQ, just a struggle in the past few weeks to plan it and write it. Was on holiday last week and University issues and bank issues nearly resolved and the novelty of PCM 13 has worn away means I hope to have it published on Saturday
MG Team manager Team Ticos Air Costa Rica

How about instead of posting tweets on twitter or in HQ thread, there is a general Twitter/Media thread made for all teams? |

Or in other words, a man-game specific version of Cafe Pedro?
