Rapha-Rouleur call Press Confernce
New British team Rapha-Rouleur ProCycling manager Phil Hoyle has called a Press Conference for 1600GMT today, to make an big announcement concerning the team.
No news has been given to why the press conference has been called, but rumours are rife about the possibility of a new signing or further sponsorship deal for the team.

Rapha-Rouleur Press Conference - Live

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Press Conference today here in Manchester. Thank you all for coming.
In order to make this feel like a 'live' press conference, I have decided to post the news in small batches every 15/30 minutes, that will all appear in this post as time goes by. The time of each statement will be shown, like above, and I will try to break up each of the sections to show each news article.
If, between updates, you have any questions you would like to ask about the breaking news, then please PM me and I will try and answer.
Without any further delay, we will begin...

We begin the Press Conference with some sadness news for the team. Experienced climber and domestique Dan Fleeman has decided against joining the team for the 2013 season.
Dan was previously unattached before provisionally agreeing to join Rapha-Rouleur, following an early retirement due to injury, and was looking forward to being part of the team's vision for the future of British cycling. However, despite training hard and joining the team on the Training Camp in Wales just a couple of weeks ago, he clearly feels that he is not at the level to perform competitively throughout the season.
Whilst it is a shame to lose Dan as a rider, we are delighted to announce that he has agreed instead to become one of the team's Directeur Sportifs for the forthcoming season.

Due to Dan's departure, that now leaves the team 1-man short of our preferred 18-man team.
With this in mind, the team had looked to see who would be available to replace Dan, but after talking to bosses at the Jaguar Academy, we have decided to offer an opportunity to someone from the PCM community to earn themselves a scholarship with Jaguar and become part of the Rapha-Rouleur squad.
The applications must be made by PM only, and in addition to the basic information and rider stats (template found in the spoiler below), I would also like a small paragraph explaining why you should be chosen to be part of the team. Riders cannot be no more than 20 years of age, and their stats should add up to no more than 810 points. The rider's nationality and type of rider is at the choice of the PCM member.

The winner will be announced via PM before it is announced to the PCM community, and they will be given to chance to have some input to how they will ride each race they partake in.

Finally, we would like to announce that Rapha-Rouleur have signed a deal with Mavic and Kask for the forthcoming season. Mavic will provide the wheels for the team, whilst Kask will supply the team with the helmets.
I would like to end the press conference by throwing it open to the floor to ask any questions.
sutty68: What calendar will the team be looking at for the forthcoming season, will it be British based or are they venturing into Europe and beyond?
The main priority of the team will be the British races, like the Premier Calendar, Pearl Izumi Tour Series and obviously the Tour of Britain. We will also look to take part in European races, in particularly France, Benelux and Italy, but we will not be venturing further than that in the first season. The plan though is to look at riding in the US or even Down Under next season, or even the season after that.
baggieboys32: The team seems very strong compared to last year, are we likely to see a steady push up through the divisions?
The team has applied for a Pro Continental licence for the 2013 season, and we are waiting to hear back from the UCI on their decision. We want to compete at a level that can help develop the riders, and bring out their true potential, and that can only really be done in the big Pro Continental and WorldTour race. Building a team to rise through the divisions would certainly help with that.
Baggieboys32: Will you be releasing power data?
No comment haha! Only joking From the outset, we want to make it clear that Rapha-Rouleur will have a Zero Tolerance to doping. However, that seems to be a common phrase these days with many teams who seem to have to have the opposite... If there are suspicions against any of our riders, I myself will be happy to publish rider data, training schedules and rider progression to the world's press. Rapha have nothing to hide!

Like the press-conference addition to the story, hope they continue as it adds something unique. Hopefully the expansion pack comes soon (feels like many stories are awaiting it's arrival, mine included).
