Tour of Oman - Stage 3
Todays another day for the sprinters, BUT, its also a bit of an uphill sprint. Maybe this means that a few of the hilly riders can do well again today. The finish may be too hard for Coquard anyway, but I hope he can be there.
Well, we started the day with a break and Perrig Quemeneur. It was a hot day, so the breakaway riders really suffered today, but still, the peloton were cutting it close with the chase on the break.
But, with 6km left, the break was caught leaving it yet again up to the sprinters. As the sprint started up, it wasn't clear who would get it because of the hill, but Coquard was in contention as was Turgot.
But with 500m to go, Ciolek got away and takes the great win, stopping Feillu's great run of form through the first two stages! No Top 10 for Europcar today, as the hill obviously was too much for any of our riders! I tried pulling Turgot up, but he never grabbed my wheel.

Tour of Oman - Stage 4
Today is the big day! I dont expect to do well today on the mountains, but Im going to the Tour this year with Voeckler as my leader, so I want to make a good impression on him here, by helping him out a lot today! He;s not in great form, but I we want to go for a Top 10 realistically. It should be a hectic stage for sure!
Anthony Charteau made an attack with 50km to go, as the peloton brought back the BOTD quite early. It was a good effort but Feillu followed and that prompted the peloton to chase the duo down, and that was the end of that.
AS we hit the slopes Dominik Nerz made the move for BMC, and many of the leaders followed his move. Voeckler was a little slow reacting to it, so he was quick in joining the 2nd group on the road.
Voeckler was doing a little better than expected, he slowly climbed back to the 2nd group, but when he got there no one wanted to chase and the peloton was coming close. Thomas rode his own speed and the group decided to push the pace a little, but it was clear they wouldn't reach the top group.
The sprint in the first group started and Nerz leads it out. No one looks like he can pass him, so maybe he can take win, surely the biggest of his career!
But Tschopp takes it on the line, what an acceleration from him! Nerz will be upset that he couldn't take that one. Voeckler finishes a few minutes back but still in contention for a Top 10. So Im very happy of his efforts today.

Tour of Oman - Stage 5
Yet again, the course is a little bumpy at the end, and it favours the hilly riders more than the sprinters today, so we may try to move Voeckler up into the Top 10. He's a great descender so the downhill to the finish could be a good platform to try something for him. I'll support him of course, but I may be of use in the end for a good result if his legs aren't up for it.
The breakaway is of extra attention to us today, because Cousin was able to get away with the other escapees. Its a good move, as he's a pretty good rider on the hills, in case the break stays away.
After the final KOM, the riders are still clear and descending to the final round of the climb. Its looking close, but the peloton can see the breakaway, with the way the descent is, and that will motivate them to bring them back.
Atapuma and Veuchelen get clear from the rest of the breakaway, but a few kms later, they are caught by the rest of the breakaway. Shortly after that, the breakaway is brought back, by the now 30 rider Peloton. Its a small group with Charteau, Voeckler and myself, while Dan Martin and Brad Wiggins are caught behind, meaning Voeckler will move into the Top 10 atleast.
The sprint starts, and the only real sprinter here is Haussler. All 3 of us are not going to be able to win this stage, but a good sprint could get the team a Top 10.
And as we get to about 50m left, Gilbert has this one in the bag and can start his celebration. I was able to sprint to a Top 10, and Anthony crossed the line right behind me, giving the team 2 Top 10's. Voeckler finished safely in the group. Solid day for him.
