Props to Samu for trying.
Yup! Really great to see him attacking so much.
Cool to see my riders in the break. Would love to see more of that but have a race favourite in 90% of my races, will not happen a lot.
Too bad Bystrom couldn't follow Passeron.

Looked a decent stage, the length of the TT though should give quite large gaps. I'd be surprised if Zabriskie does not make the podium.
Should be a nice showdown for the win between Dekker and Kritskiy.

Apologies for the delay. Been very busy - still am - but found some time to do that time trial justice in the report. Decided to go for a real time approach rather than rider by rider. Hopefully it worked well enough

I think rider by rider is good for prologue's, but I thought this was the best way for the TT here.
I am fairly surprised Zabriskie didn't win but it does underline the strength of both Dekker and Kritskiy's stage racer abilities given their performance here. This has been the strong showing Tinkoff have waited for after two years of developing Russian talent. The mercenary like Ignatiev was/has been a bit of a letdown but Kritskiy has been superb here.
Proving a bit of a nothing race for Hollister, could open things up on the standings.

I enjoyed the report that way, great work. Just like Smowz, i'm pretty surprised with Zabriskie losing rather much time here. Makes me both fear some similar surprises once Rogers hits the road and for a race like Windhoek ITT.
But back to Sochi: huge race by Kritskyi indeed. Tinkoff looks very strong now.

Not the best race for me. Had hoped for a bit more than 8th in the GC. At least it should give me a fair amount of points and the KoM win.
Probably something around 12 points/race day in the end which is surely not the worst.
As the others I liked this kind of TT report. It was better to follow with all the checkpoint overviews and provisional GC`s. |

Really top notch report from the TT, it was certainly worth the wait. I hoped for top 10 for Popkov, but i also knew Niemec will be probably stronger than him, so that 11th place in GC is the best we can get from here, with so many great riders present.
Hopefully nothing will change on that in the last stage and Nolan "the killer" Hoffman will bring us some nice points from the sprint again.
Shame that Kritskiy is untouchable in the points competition now, but it is deserved, as he is clearly the stongest rider in his homeland.

Great report, the wait was worth it.
This has been a great team performance which I didn't expect at all comming in. Although I was hopping Costa could have got a top 5 after the ITT, Fraile makes up for it with an outstanding 13th in GC plus 2nd in youth. And then possibly 5 extra points for 3rd in team classification. That said, hopefully nothing awful happens on stage 5.

Great report SN. Keep me on the edge of my seat on the train
Stage victory is great, but the overall GC win is still what I came for here. Nothing will happen in the last stage, I guess, but one can always hope for a minor Kritskiy crash.
Sorry, Oleg |

Fantastic reporting, SN. That was genuinely exciting.
Kono outdid himself there, but slightly annoying that his hard work was overhauled by one second to Dave Z. Still, 6th is a great result and a much better points haul than I anticipated.

This race was a success for Metinvest, Hoffman with stage win, 2nd place and also second in the points rankings + 11th in GC for Popkov, these are some solid points per race day, so i am happy.
Congrats to Sram, nice leadout there for Mozgov, Bazayev should time his sprint better and choose better sprint line.
Also congrats to Tinkoff, Kritskiy has a great start to the seaon for them.
Thanks for nice reports SN!

Had hoped for more in the GC so I can`t be 100% happy with the outcome. On the other side Passeron got a stage win, the KoM jersey and Ruijgh`s 20th is also nice.
In the end I get qutie a few points and should stay in a good position. |

I'm afraid I blew my team's chances of promotion by entering these C1 races... 27th in the GC and 1 podiumfinish, not really what I wanted, but points are points....

6th and 14th on GC, not at all bad for us. The hills must have helped Mandri in the TT.
Gongrats to Oleg on the win, too.

Disappointing. With so few race days, Dekker basically has to win everything he starts. Congrats to Oleg, though. |

Came for nothing. Got a bit. We should have had a rider in the break though on the last stage. Chaves performance made me smile!
