Sometimes it happens that riders just abandon without a crash. This is caused by illness or any injuries without a crash.
Decent 2nd for Vantomme. But I hope we will get at least one win by him. My train is just not strong enough I guess to deliver a perfect position. |

Patrick Gretsch gets his second stong TT finish. Finishing 2nd in the prolog was a very strong result for him and with the 4th place finish in the TT on the Tour de San Luis he is riding well.
After stage #2 he was able to hold his 2nd in the GC but the 200k+ flats will test him and the final 12k TT will be harder for him. We would be very happy if the bumpy stage is not very selective and he can hold on to a top 15 position.
One AMEX rider to keep any eye on is Yannick Stoltz. As our fortunes slide (as they will) he will become more of a breakaway threat and once in the break he can be very dangerous.
Another sprint stage with poor positioning and no sprint train. Not a real surprise here as we only sent 2 young sprinters. You have to pay your dues.

For some reason, thats just the way crash abandons works. In most cases, other riders crash at the same time which makes it more obvious

Ok that makes sense. Never had that happen to me before.

It's a shame that Fabio Silvestre gave up because it could be important in launching the sprinters. But then even with a bad placement Van Loocke achieved a good result and score points, which leaves good perspectives for the next stages.

van Poppel missed strength this stage, maybe tomorrow he will have more luck.
And sorry die Berg, usually Kavsek and Berkhout are quite adept at staying upright.

Okay.. won't expect this sprint-stages to go very well Rasmussen seems to sit in the back of the pack and Drapac struggles to compete with the best here. Now we desperately need a very good TT. Don't want this racedays to be "wasted" like Langkawi.

A good day for us with a nice stage win, although frustrating that no one contested the sprint primes and frustrating that it wasn't Vaitkus who won.
Unusual sprinting from the team... Anyone got any clue as to why all 3 would go solo for the win?
GC aspirations largely gone now, but some more strong sprints will do nicely.

A seriously boaring stage after a boring stage. Unless this tour wakes up it will be a leading candidate for being dropped in 2014.

Weak stage for Guillen... Know Guillen weren't the main favourite, but 10th, seriously ? would expect much more after jesterday's stage win..

Positive is that Vantomme tries to fight for the point jersey. I guess without a sprint train he would do so much better...unfortunately he will have one in most races I guess.
And how I just realized he will be in the lead tomorrow. But I guess after the timetrial even a high GC won`t be possible.
Next year at least I should have 2-3 better riders for the sprint trains.

Well. looking at his stats, he has not single green secondary stat (and flat), plus he is not good puncher and went for almost all the sprint bonuses, so maybe he was dead empty in the final.

Great report Smowz after picking this one up. Nice to see Vantomme win especially after him seemingly dropping during the stage
Btw, you made a mother of all flag posts here, plenty of colour
Spoiler We have two of 'em
BCR have just one driver Cano with Guillen, Kip, Rizza, Docker, Hutarovich, Kreder, Bennett, Tzortzakis
Rothaus look strong as ever with Tendero, Van Heerden, Vantomme, Rowe, Drujon, Nelson, Drapac, Fabbri, Van Loocke, Vaitkus, Traksel, Kurth, Hushovd, Van Poppel.
Tendero soons drops off and Cano impressively pulls BCR forwards.

The impossible has happened!
Rothaus are looking good for a promotion now that even Vantomme has started doing well.

Nice job, Smowz. Especially as you just took over to that race. Very well done, also in terms of the "speed" of your first report here.
Glad to see Drapac in the mix for the Top-5, too bad he missed it though. But at least he's showing our colors.. still annoying to see Rasmussen completely denying to join the sprint. Keukeleire seems to do so, so that's why I'm wondering a better sprinter doesn't Don't remember my season planner, but I'm desperately hoping that the duo Drapac/Rasmussen won't be racing together too often.

Thanks Smowz for pick this up for me and getting the stage out in rapid time. Still having problems with my computer but I'm seeing signs of improvement hopefully I can get to bottom of what is causing this so I can report again in the near future.

Van Loocke to fail completely at this stage ... It remains wait for the TT and see what Martin Irvine can do. I still maintain hopes of a top 15 in the standings at least
