*Sigh* A heavy burden was just lifted off my shoulders there. Way to go Guerao. Despite the fact that he isn't receiving competition from the 5 best sprinters in the world this is just awesome. Hopefully he can take one more here and use that momentum in the next races.

Congratulations to Festina, some relief that winter training wasn't completely useless, I guess.
Presence in both breaks and some ranking points for Dumoulin, nothing more to realistically achieve on a flat stage here.

Congrats to SotD, must be nice to finally see Guerao win
Huge surprise to see Spilak up there, in front of Vanoverschelde, hopefully that's a good sign for what's to come. The TTT was also surprisingly good from my team, must admit I expected Spilak to loose a lot more there.

Not a great TTT really. Doesnt bode well for the rest of the season TTTs - but still better for Andy than if it was an ITT.

Pretty awful for me as a TTT, an ITT would be much better.
It's going to be the same in the tour as well though.

Yeah you need to strenghten that part of your roster next season. Only "problem" is that you only buy spaniards and there aren't an awful lot of competent spanish TT riders who are not capable of climbing a lot aswell. And those seems to be horribly overpaid

Andy Schleck was clearly the stronger climber, yet missed out on the group sprint. He'll need a good day on the queen stage to drop everyone again.
Delighted Sella made front group, hopefully he can pick a few off in the rest of the race to register a good GC. Amazing to see Stubbe ahead of Tenorio on GC - horrific stage for Santander.
Brutal stage wetting the appetite for the grand tour racing to come.

Nice to see Marchante on the offensive, he clearly wants to show the homecrowd that he still has it despite racing for a PCT outfit now.
I really hope that stage 5 won't give any gaps, since I don't think it suits Marchante so much. Anyway, yet another nice report Roturn - Keep it up

Very happy to see Van Avermaet up there with a great sprint on the 2nd stage. It was a tough Tour of Qatar for him, but looks like he can do better here without the best sprinters present.
Expected a bit more from Brambilla here, really. At least I hope he will try his chances in a break away later in the race.

Contador not interested in attacking is not good at all. Thanks to a downhill he got in st. as the best riders. I sincerely hope he will be much more aggressive in the next mountainstage. Atleast some competitors are now behind, so GC wise it was a good stage for us.

VDB attacked in Badaling when he shouldn't, and he doesn't attack here when he should.
Top10 basically out of reach already, but that was to be expected sooner or later.
And well, it could've been worse looking at who's out of contention already, and Schwab making the second group as well is actually pleasant.
Being third in the teams classification with my relatively mediocre mountain riders looks nice as well.

Well, at least Wiggle riders are showing aggression. Can't fault them for that. Costagli appears to be potentially more interested in KOM points, which is fine - as long as he wins a GT competition in it. I reckon he could have made use of Scarponi's downhilling ability though in keeping up with the fore-runners. |

As expected, it looks like the sixth stage will decide the GC. Hopefully Velits won't lose too much time and he'll be able to get a place in the top 10. He rode very well today

Nicely done from Amador, I think he'll be a force to be reckoned with this year.

Solid TTT from my team and nice to see more boys than only Rohregger working at the front of the peloton probably in the first time of Milka team as well. Too bad that PCM12 AI is quite weird, Henao clearly could be in that first group as well..

Good ride by Intxausti, top 5 could actually be achievable.

Being the best climber bodes well for the season, if not necesarilly this race the way that the descent went. Bizarre that Tenorio did nothing

So far, so good. Valverde in the top group and Pedraza in the next one. And now only one more mountain stage where Valverde is most vulnerable. A top 5 is possible.
