WEEKLY UPDATE #3
There has been lots of activity on the transfer front since our last update but if you're reading this you've probably read the summary of who they all are so I don't need to introduce them. But what is fast emerging is that Nintendo-Ambuja will be one of the best ProConti teams in terms of strength and depth in the climbing department and we are hoping to get a wildcard into at least one GT and some other World Tour stage races. Promotion is a realistic goal but as there are several other really strong Pro Continental teams out there the season will be really tough!
DK's Pearl of Wisdom: Really pleased with the team's progress so far, but DK does not like trying to spell Marczynski - too many consonants in a row! Time for a bunch of bananas

NINTENDO RETURNS HOME FOR NEXT TWO SIGNINGS
Here at Nintendo-Ambuja we try to stay true to our roots and so the best way of encouraging locals in Japan to follow our team is if we get some Japanese cyclists! After some mix-ups in the draft, which meant we could not sign both our first choices, Yusuke Hatanaka and Tanel Kangert; we can now announce our first two Japanese cyclists - Yoshinori Iino and Shinri Suzuki. Yoshinori is a lead-out man by profession and will probably aid both Shinri and Rudiger in sprints in the more minor races. Shinri is a good, and very experienced, sprinter about on par with Rudiger Selig. We hope that both these riders settle in well in Nintendo-Ambuja and we will try and provide them with some more Japanese company!
Shinri Suzuki

TWO YOUNG GUNS ARRIVE AT NINTENDO-AMBUJA!
After the latest round of drafts, Nintendo-Ambuja can now announce that we have signed two 25-year olds - Estonian rider Tanel Kangert and Italian rider Stefano Pirazzi. We are really happy with both of these riders after our fail in the last draft; and by signing these two riders, along with Rudiger Selig, Steven Kruisjwijk, and Rudy Verboven, we are showing our commitment to the future.
Tanel Kangert is a young climber with the potential to develop as a leader with and under Kruijswijk in years to come. He much prefers the mountains to the hills and is a fairly strong fighter and not too bad on the time-trial bike.
Stefano Pirazzi is a young Italian climber who is also one of the best fighters around! He can set off in the break of the day in a long, arduous mountain stage and make it to the finish; and with this in mind he is a potential candidate for a Grand Tour stage win. He is a great character and will surely liven up training sessions with his constant attacks!

NINTENDO - AMBUJA SIGNS THREE MORE!
It is nearing the end of the draft now but Nintendo-Ambuja had a perfect round, gathering up their 3 first choices! We had been lacking a specialist time-trialler in the squad, but we can now announce the arrival of two of that such type! - Manuele Boaro and Patrick Gretsch. They are both 25 years old, continuing a theme here and are both very similar types of riders, they prefer shorter prologues to longer time-trials. They are sure to be very valuable assets in team time-trials as well.
Manuele Boaro
Patrick Gretsch
Our third rider is Blel Kadri. Blel is another of those great all-round riders, a bit like Paul Martens; and is a more-than-useful climbing domestique, can time-trial fairly well and is a good lead-out rider. We look forward to having all three on board over the next year at least and hope they do well in Nintendo colours!

Grrr... There are a few other decent Japanese riders though I'm quite pleased at progress here, a pretty good squad for a ProConti team I think *subtle cough* please accept all my wildcard applications *subtle cough*

RECENT ROUND IS ALL-OUT ASIAN!
For the most recent round, we have opted to sign three Asian riders. We can now say with confidence that we are the most international team in the peloton, boasting riders from 12 different countries - Belgium, Czech Republic, Russia, Spain, Holland, Slovenia, Germany, Poland, France, Japan, Estonia, Italy and Malaysia.
Our first signing was the veteran sprinter Takashi Miyazawa. Takashi has spent some valuable years in the World Tour peloton and will be a great guy to have on the team to offer advice on how it's done at the top level to the other Japanese guys. He signs a 1-year contract
Our second signing is the hugely talented Anuar Manan who hails from the unlikely area of Malaysia. Of course, Anuar will be targeting Tour de Langkawi and we hope he can bring success not just there but in other races too. He signs a 2 year contract
Our third signing was the amazing and virtually unknown talent Tomohiro Hayakawa. On paper, Tomohiro is the weakest member of the team at the moment, but he is only 22 and we are sure that he will develop into Japan's finest climber. We have shown a lot of faith in him by signing a three-year contract.

JAPANESE RIDERS FLOCK TO NINTENDO-AMBUJA! #
After some concerns were raised by some fans over the perceived lack of Japanese riders in the team and the fact that strong Japanese riders Fumiyuki Beppu and Yukiya Arashiro had decided to sign with the Lunar Industries team, we decided to give you some Japanese riders - 3 of them!
Shinichi Fukushima, at 41, is one of the oldest members of the peloton but is a great fighter and never stops attacking
Yukihiro Doi is a decent local climbing domestique who can help out on the hills
And lastly, Yusuke Hatanaka is a great lead-out man with a good turn of speed who can deliver the likes of Rojas, Selig, Manan, and Suzuki to the line with a good lead-out
We are very pleased to have all three on board and our total of Japanese riders now increases to seven!

LAST SIGNING ANNOUNCED!
Today we can reveal our last signing for the team, Miyataka Shimizu. Miyataka is a relatively unknown rider who will act as a domestique in several races and will have good chances of getting into the breaks.
IT'S NOT ALL GOOD NEWS THOUGH
After a controversial last round of drafting, we have to say goodbye to Steven Kruijswijk and Simon Spilak, two of our strongest climbers; who have decided to pursue their careers with other teams. This is a real loss for the team, and will significantly impact our performance over the season and lower expectations drastically. What was once one of the best climbing squads in the CT now looks a little bare. However, we have to soldier on and get our own back on Magners and Cymru Wales, the teams who stole them from us

Klaas Boogedal HQ
Birth: 27. september 1990
Nationality: Holland
Height: 194 cm
Weight: 83 kg
Hello there!
I am Klaas Boogedal, and will this year ride my first season for Nintendo-Ambuja. I have worked hard over many years, and I am very happy that the professional contract now is ready. I hope the next three years with the Japanese team will be great.
Background
I were born in Spannenburg, a small town close to Heerenveen in northern Netherlands. There I spended my first years, and grow as an athlete. Firstly in speed skating, which is the biggest sport in the district but later in cycling. I started my serious cycling career when I was 17, and became national junior champion at the road race in 2008. After that some great teams looked at me, but I didn't get a serious offer until this season, after I made lots of good results in national races at home. In 2010 I moved to Kortijk, Belgium, to come closer to my beloved cobbles and I still live here.
Abilities
My biggest strengths is definitely the cobbles, where I see myself as one of the biggest talents in the world. I am not so bad climbing the short and steep climbs we see in the Ardennes, and on the national level I could also enter the top at time-trial racing. Still my biggest goals is in the first category, and my biggest dream is to wiin the Paris-Roubaix.
Nintendo - Ambuja
I did get a lot of suggestions before this season, but I feel that the choice was right. Nintendo will give me a lot of support in my first years as a pro, and I feel that my place in the team fits perfectly. They don't expect much of me the first seasons, but both I and they hope that I can show things from 2014. There are no dutchmen in the team, but I have learned german, so I can't find it to be a big problem. I have already been to several rides with team-mate Rudy Verboven as we live close to each other. I hope that our partnership will turn to a great success from both me and Rudy and the rest of the Nintendo-Ambuja team.
You will hear more from me
Klaas Boogedal

Hey fans,
The draft has brought us good news and bad news. The good news is we got a lot good rider, the bad news is, we lost some in the end.
A very positive thing though is that the team just signed Klaas Boogedal. He speaks the same language as me, likes the same races as me and we're more or less the same age. He's a great guy and I'm really happy he's in the team. It's already been arranged that we share the room if we're racing together!
Of course I knew this when I signed, but he's the only one here I can speak dutch to. The Japanese riders and staff are nice, but I don't understand a word they're saying. The same goes for the guys from Eastern Europe. Luckily, we all know a bit of English, so communication is possible. We got to know each other a lot during the first team meeting.
When it comes to cycling, it's the Germans I hang out with most of the time. Marcus Burghardt gives me a lot of tips to ride over cobbles, and Paul Martens challenges me to follow him each time we come to a steep hill. These guys are definitely better then me, but they take the time to teach me things and I really appreciate that.
Oh yes, you are curious about my season of course. Well, so am I! Nothing is final yet, but I am planned for the Belgian stage races so far, along with some classics. Once I know more, I'll let you know of course.
For now, it is training time again. Sprints are up! The Japanese are pretty good at these, yet J-J still beats them (and me) every time.
~ Rudy
