Brajkovic Takes 7th at the Big Show
Heineken's Grand Boucle kicked off with a 4th place finish in the stage one Team Time Trial.
The rest of the 1st week passed relatively uneventfully. The stage 7 individual time trial was Brajkovic's next chance to shine, and he did not disappoint.
Thomas Peterson made a great escape on stage 13, ending the day 3rd. Meanwhile Brajkovic held fast to the wheels of the race leaders. His effort on the stage 17 time trial earned him 5th on the day and moved him up to 7th overall. In the last three mountain stages Brajkovic took a 5th and 7th, jumping up to 6th, before entering stage 21 back in 7th. Jeannesson recorded a 30th place finish in Paris, Brandt took 6th on the youth rankings and Brajkovic ended 10th in the points classification.

RELEGATION
Heineken presented by California Giant Berry Farms has suffered relegation at the close of the 2013 season. The team's efforts were not enough to keep the Heineken in the Pro Tour for the 2014 season. As a result, Heineken will again ply it's trade in the familiar waters of the second division.
The grit shown by the team's riders convinced the team's sponsor's to stick with the team, albeit at a reduced budget, and this commitment is greatly appreciated by management. We will be looking for an update to the kit, so if any of you talented kit designers want to take a try the management has promised internet cookies.
As for the roster, PCT rules will mean that trimming to both the squad size and squad budget will have to take place. JJ Haedo, Alex Howes, Philip Vandaele, Preben Van Hecke are among the names that will not be offered a new contract. Jack Bauer will be returning to Meiji, though a permanent swap is desired. The team's big earners will also be under the microscope.
Heineken presented by California Giant Berry Farms is very optimistic about the future. Relegation is a hit to morale, but the team is getting stronger and that gives us hope.

We, B3B, like the look of Howes for our squad. There might also be interest in Vandaele or Van Hecke as replacements for Bucciero

Although on the decline in his twilight years, securing JJ Haedo's experience combined with ability to still battle shoulder-to-shoulder with the young whipper-snappers certainly interests the staff at this potential CT start-up. Holding out hope that JJ would be swayed by the opportunity to race for a team based close to home.

Heineken-Cal Giant Announces Goals for New Season
Recently relegated Heineken-Cal Giant appears to have taken to it's new division with a force of energy scarcely seen since the team's manager became acquainted with the elixir of life, Ben and Jerry's. But if you look at the team's goals it should become apparent that the team's management took the path of mediocrity, after failing every single one of the team's objectives in their lone Pro Tour season. That said, they are still fairly ambitious, especially given that the expectation from sponsors is an immediate bounce back into the Pro Tour.
Top 5 PCT standings
Top 5 Tour d’Andorra
Win Tour of Vancouver
Top 5 American Tour Standings
Top 5 Vuelta al Tachira
The safest person on the roster is Ryan Eastman and though the young American had a decent year in the Pro Tour, further development is still needed. Janez Brajkovic, should his wage fall to semi-reasonable levels, will likely remain on the roster. Janez's countryman, Kristjan Koren was an integral part of our promotion effort and he will likely remain in the team. Sebastian Langevelde will have a limited amount of utility, so his place is less certain and, should he remain, will lead the the cobbled classics.
Depth is important in the PCT and the team is pretty happy with what we have. Long time riders that will remain on the team are Peter Stetina, Tyler Brandt, Thomas Peterson, Ethan Weiss, and Taylor Tolleson. Dutch riders Pim Ligthart and Ronan Van Zandbeek will also stay. Frenchman Arnold Jeannesson, Aussie Michael Matthews, young American Evan Huffman, and Belgian Veteran Pieter Ghyllebert are unlikely to leave.
Riders who are looking for a loan into the Pro Tour are Iranian champ Abolfazl Gilanipoor, Aussie sprinter Steele Von Hoff, and American all rounder Kiel Reijnen.
Riders likely to not be offered a contract during renewals are Alex Howes, Preben Van Hecke, Philip Vandaele, and JJ Haedo. Steven Cozza is another fence sitter.
A name that has, here-to-fore, gone unmentioned is Italian Filippo Pozzato. What happens with Pipo is still up in the air.
In the upcoming transfer season Heineken will be looking for a lead sprinter, and potentially a Puncheur.

According to Iranian press, Abolfazl Gilanipoor has lately been in contact with a unnamed Asian team. Do the Heineken management know anything more regarding this? |

Heineken responded to the rumors linking Abolfazl away from the team and said that anything is possible in this day and age.

Some tough goals here, but as the team coming from PT, you should be more than able to achieve that, given your strong climbing team.
The guy that has his future uncertain is very interesting for our Metinvest-Emirates team next to other punchy options. I would like to talk during transfers.

AMEXpc would like to express interest in Sebastian Langvelde. If hi salary is reasonable let's stay in touch in the transfer season.

Quickstep will keep an eye on Sebastian Langeveld and Kristian Koren situation at Heineken-Cal Giant, with rumours of definite interest.
...................................................................
Good luck in the coming season, I can definitely see quite an easy promotion coming up for your team, good goals too, more than achievable and give a nice budget to work with.

Aeropostal are very looking with very interest into Ethan Weiss, though, by beeing probably unreachable for us, we may back off if it's told us that he won't be sold. |

Langeveld could certainly find a home with Team Hornbach. Will have to phone him if he wants to work from Holland again.

Heineken Presented by California Giant is pleased to make the team kit available for review by the press. aidanvn13 obviously did a sterling job on this years kit and the staff couldn't be happier.
In other news, the process of renewing and cutting riders has been completed. Exact terms of deals will remain confidential for the time being.

Steele Von Hoff €50,000
Arnold Jeannesson €60,000
Abolfazl Gilanipoor €59,000
Filippo Pozzato €580,000
Sebastian Langeveld €100,000
Pim Ligthart €65,000
Ronan Van Zandbeek €60,000
Ryan Eastman €290,000
Tyler Brandt €72,000
Ethan Weiss €70,000
Thomas Peterson €50,000
Peter Stetina €60,000
Kiel Reijnen €52,000
Taylor Tolleson €60,000

Steele Von Hoff, Abolfazl Gilanipoor and Kiel Reijnen will be looking for experience in the Pro Tour.
Filippo Pozzato has been retained. He remains an excellent rider, like a better version of the Fabian Wegmann that dominated the Continental Tour in it's first iteration. Pozzato finished 20th in the individual points rankings of last year's Pro Tour season, however he will be made available during the transfer season.

In an interview with the American cycling magazine, VeloNews, Heineken-Cal Giant manager Levi4life openly discussed his riders' race schedule.
He began by discussing Slovenian Janez Brajkovic. Brajkovic joined the team for last years foray into the Pro Tour and has been retained for the team's return to the second division.
Janez is going to be a key aspect of any push for the Pro Tour. He will begin with a trip to Italy, the Giro Del Trentino. Then he will lead the team in Corsica and Vancouver. Sibiu is the next stop, followed by Pays de Savoie, Andorra and USAPCC. Nestled into that calender is a trip to Colombia for the team's sole PT wildcard race of the season. Brajkovic stands a good chance of laying down a good marker in Colombia, and a strong showing will show that Heineken belong in the Pro Tour.
22 Year old Ryan Eastman joined the team a long time ago in a galaxy far away, and remains central to the team's plans going forward. Eastman has grown up in our program and will have the opportunity to lead the team in many stage races over the season. Eastman will stat his season in Venezuela, leading our delegation to the Vuelta al Tachira. He will then head home before leaving a few weeks later for the Middle East. Oman will be his first Hors Categorie challenge of the season. A long break follows, then Cartago Irazu, and Eritrea. Eastman's biggest target of the season is his "home race." The Tour of America runs 21 days and is spent largely in his home state of California. A win will truly announce his presence as a force on the international scene. Eastman will also support Janez in La Vuelta a Colombia.
Dan Holloway is the biggest addition to the team from the recently closed transfer season. He should be one of the most durable sprinters in the PCT and as such we are extremely happy to have him on. Down Under Classic will be his first test, followed by Tour of the South China Sea. Olympias Tour, Dutch Food Classic, Ster ZLM Tour, Denmark, Czech Republic, Eneco, and Dunkerque are also on the agenda, with a finish in Philadelphia.
Sebastian Langeveld and Damien Gaudin will lead the team in the cobbled classics, beginning with Bahir Dar, and continuing with Dwars Door Vlaanderen, Kobenhaven, and Wanze are a few of the races they will share leadership in. Both of these riders will also take part in many of the lead out trains for designated sprinter Holloway.
The departure of Slovenian Kristjan Koren will be felt, however Pim Ligthart and Ronan van Zandbeek will be well eqipped to fill the gap. The two will partner up at De Panne, Trentino, Vancouver, Differdange, Dunkerque, Czech Republic, Denmark, Bayern, and Vuelta a Colombia. Ligthart will take sole leadership at Olympias Tour while Van Zandbeek will give Ukraine the old College try.

Brajkovic is the rider i'm most afraid of in the mountainous races with a time-trial. There'll be some hard fought battles, and we'll meet each other in every of his races except for USAPCC.
Good luck!

Yay, avoiding Holloway in Brazil and a whole bunch of C1 races
And at least Nerz has the two mountain classics and Österreich for himself. I guess that was all I could hope for anyway.
Now if only Bacardi avoided them as well

Well could not have chosen a worse race to put Karpets, since he will find Brajkovic in almost all races, except in USAPCC and Sibiu

There's hardly a way to avoid a double-header in PCT anyway...
