I'd be shocked if Contador won the TT, not that much practice coming off the suspension, and a strong field of competition. I wouldn't laugh it off, but he probably wouldn't be in my top 10.
Can you actually name 10 riders you think would beat him?
He is in good enough from to win the Vuelta, and come 2nd in the - albeit hilly - time trial there. And its one of the weaker TT World Champs fields for a number of years - perhaps since Grabsch won.
Looking at the startlist, I'd usually pick the following five to be at his level.
Martin
Froome
Pinotti
Kessiakoff
Larsson
And, depending on form, I could see any of these doing a stronger ride than him:
Durbridge
Grabsch
Malori
Konovalovas
Velits
Brajkovic
Phinney
TJ
Maybe I shouldn't have said tenth...I'd probably have him sixth, after that top five. I still would be shocked if he won though, even with the Cauberg. |

Wiggins for the ITT. Vanendert or Rodriguez for the road. One of the schleck brothers could also produce and upset. And RadioShack or Sky for the TTT.

Wiggo isn't riding.
Vanendert isn't riding, and Rodriguez might not be the top option on a loaded Spain team that everyone will be marking.
Frank is still in purgatory, and I don't think Andy is back from his injury. If I'm totally wrong and either are riding, they won't be in anything even resembling form.
Both Radioshack and Sky sent B-level teams for the TTT, and although they could manage something, don't look like the favorite. |

Id disagree - I see it as Martin vs Contador. Froome seemed a bit knackered by the end of the Vuelta, else he could be a threat.

I disagree concerning several names on that list.
As SN said, Froome seems to be running out of form at last, so I doubt he'll be a contender.
Larsson hasn't been anywhere near his 2008 level in the longer time trials this year. I'll be surprised if he hits the Top 5. Not sure about Kessiakoff either, since he's not Vuelta / Suisse class in the flatter TTs.
Durbridge, perhaps. Grabsch, Brajkovic, Malori and Konovalovas beating Contador? No way. Especially not the last two. Konovalovas won a Giro TT three years ago thanks to lots of luck, and hasn't got any notable results since.
Phinney and Van Garderen are definitely serious contenders though.

I don't know about Kessiakoff, the profile is kinda of hilly, and he can do a good performance. Don't see Grabsch finishing in the top places, the profile is too hard for him. |

This must be the weakest Lux squad for years...
At least since the Schleck/Kirchen period.
Looking forward for Suisse. Without Cancellara it will be completely different but Albasini, Zaugg or Schär can perform well here I guess.

Wiggins really for RR? Why not TT then? And this is a pretty weird team imo as Cavendish, Stannard, Rowe, Swift will struggle on the climbs. Froome not in form. So I guess it`s all for Tiernan-Locke? |

Form reason for Wiggins I think. He can help out a bit in the RR, but probably isnt in the sort of TT-winning form he had earlier in the year anymore.
Though he withdrew from the Tour of Britain today, so maybe wont even do the RR.
I think the main reason Cavendish wants to ride is because he won it last year. The problem is, some of the stupid British media think he has a chance of defending it ... ToB reports full of stuff like 'Cavendish wins as he prepares to defend his World title'

Was supposed to be irony.
I have no doubt that Cavendish will be one of the first to be gone/abandon. In especially as he has no Eisel with him. ^^
