Somewhat disappointing to not see Alarcon attack. He clearly had much energy left, as his sprint was quick. Big congratulations to Rapha, taking what must've been a somewhat surprising victory.
And nice report, Bushwackers, I'm looking forward to the final one, hopefully Alarcon is more active there. |

Nice reports, looking forward to stage 5. Hopefully Krazzo and Raisin move up in GC to secure more points. |

Looking good so far with two guys in top 10 GC, hope they will do a great last stage too. |

Nice effort by Lewis, if he defends his Top-15 in GC, I will be happy.. and if Gate can defend his KoM-lead, well...

Team D2 staggered by Mountains in Stage #5
After having several good rides early in the tour, Team D2 were crushed by the strength of the CT climbers on stage #5. Maher Hasnaoui was the lone rider who had a good day. Hasnaoui jumped into the early break and just before they were pulled back he rode away from the peleton and helped establish the main break of the day. Until the climbs turned steep he rode well and stayed in the break.
When the big climbs of the day arrived Maher was not up to the task, but he did not break. He slowly slipped behind and finally was swallowed up by the peleton. On the day he finished 45th and he lost an additional +8'56, but he was still the best D2 finisher.
In the GC Klima is the highest ranked D2 rider in 4th position and Hasanoui is now 45th. In all for a young 23 year old who started the season with 1/0 expereince he has shown he has the heart of a stage racer. All he needs is more expereince and training. In 2 or 3 seasons he will be a threat on these short CT tours. |

Good to see Carrara attack - not a threat on the overall so would have been nice to see them let him go. Maybe the next stage.... |

Great stuff on a climb I thought wasn't steep or long enough. Alarcon knows how to make it exciting, as I was sure stage 5 was the stage to make a difference
Thanks for the reports, Bushwackers, I'll echo Smowz a few posts earlier, as I've also enjoyed the combination of great pictures, well-written text, and the humour on top of it through the whole race. |

How can you NOT defend thr KoM in such a stage?? Stupid AI...
But nice effort by Lewis, pretty satisfied with his overall performance and tactics here.

Great reporting throughout, and a top showing from Rapha. Stage win and 4th overall from Ndbri is more than expected, and Jiriakov was great too!

Absolute washout of a race for Vespa and Carrara.
Nice reports though Bushwackers - thanks for them - very entertaining. |

Very entertaining but informative reports, really enjoyed the race reading on a iphone.
I kinda knew that Moinard would lose his race lead on the final day, he finished 3rd on GC which is roughly where I suspect Gadret would have finished had he not been held back by team orders.
Still a couple of stage wins (and a decent 2-3-4 on stage 2) and a reasonable GC result I think gets a decent points yield - which may as well be the JRB mantra .
It was a sucky race for Vespa but a decent enough one for Aker Sols and this late season surgers Emu Export. Despite taking the race lead it was not a particularly brilliant race by Pirelli for me. One word for the D2 team - outclassed.

Slightly disappointing end to a race that started much better than expected. We really didn't have anything in the end to threaten the best riders in the peloton, so I guess a nice stage win from Ianetti and a couple of days in the leader jersey will have to do!
- Great reporting Bushwackers, it was a pleasure to follow this event.
