I am not sure things will be that controlled even in the next stage - but I am guessing the hill will be steep enough for some sort of extra selection.
Red Bull seem to be the team that will not attack and then chase when the favourites do - this does push things in the favour of Nico Roche - though if Gadret can somehow remain on the same time and all those piddly small sh** riders placing in the top 15 riders can get dropped then maybe that will be the tactic that will pay dividends.
More likely a group of 11 or so riders (Ginanni, Di Maggio, LL Sanchez, Froome, Roche etc.) get up the road for the finale - if Roche can mark everyone he is favourite for the race win by winning the sprint for third on stage 3.
Roche unfortunately didn't grab any bonus seconds on stage 3 despite him winning the sprint in the favourite group.

I'm pretty damn pissed about betting on this race. What a mess. The term favourite doesn't have any meaning here!
From an outsider point of view, well this has been some extraordinary racing with so much surprise. Too bad I'm not an outsider here.
Anyway what an awesome stage from Afonso and especially Borges. There are a lot of expectations resting on these guys shoulders.

Bellis seemed intent on making life as hard as possible for himself on that stage. Pirelli look to be in a strong position for a good points haul and with De la Fuente now race favourite, Bianchi are charging towards the top of the CT standings

A great ride from Rovira again, absolutely brilliant. It would be amazing if he could hold on to that 3rd place overall, wonder how much he will loose on the MTT.
Too bad the breakaway wasn't caught, but with riders like Fuente and Busche, it was always going to be hard. Another bad thing for us were Larsson getting dropped, if he had kept up he could have done well in the fight for 11th, I think.
But all in all, we've got a lot more than expected from this race, hopefully Rovira can finish it off, with a top 5 overall. That would be great. |

Another major AI failing there. What we doing letting riders like that get so far up the road???
Nice report though - enjoyed the read. I think Ginanni will do ok in the MO TT and if he does, it really is a race he should have won. |

What a masterful balls up there.
STOP CHASING and GET IN A BREAK you imbeciles!
Cracking report though had me on the edge of my seat seing Gadret dropped time and time again. Pirelli having a blinder here and Bianchi rescued from the ashes.

Losing 19 minutes is all part of Sanchez master plan
Should be a synch to pull that back in the TT

Great report!
I feel sorry for Larsson now, that's his 4th 2nd place on an individual time trial. And in total, he has been 25 seconds away from 4 stage wins instead. Poor Swede
But great to take a 2nd place on the stage, and Rovira keeping 3rd overall. Can only cross fingers he'll keep that podium spot on the final stage.

Nice to be right about something - I thought if the race had gone according to plan, the gaps on this stage wouldn't have hurt Ginnani too much. Hopefully the flat final stage will have a hilly finale. |

This is great, I can't remember the team having so many riders at the top of the classification! Ianetti has especially been amazing while Busche's move on stage 4 was a masterpiece. Good to see Roche performing well though I doubt he will take the Point Jersey.
Now for a non eventful final stage please

Decent effort from Veloso there and congratulations to JL Augustyn, hopes perhaps of another South African winning the final stage perhaps?
More likely a hapless chase from the Red Bull boys of course as we have come to expect. Parcours look a little lumpy so its probably a good thing if we are at the front of the pack.
This was a great little report full of detail btw - TTs can be a little tricky to report on. We have three cracking reporters slugging it out here Capo/Suisse and Dauphine.

So to sum up this race for Cerne:
A 2nd place in stage 4
A 3rd place in stage 5
and just outside the podium in the final GC
And the worst of all, the feeling I could have won this if it weren't for the crazy AI.

Average results so far for my team, as expect
But the reports are also great to read,
The first man out on today’s stage is Serafin Blanco. He is an absolutely useless puncheur, but will one day turn into a decent climber.
And thanks for adding in some CSC into the report as my racing results haven't been enjoyable to read at all lately.

We kept 3rd overall, which was the only thing that mattered on that final stage. A great Giro del Capo for us.
And good reports, all the way through, CountArach

Thanks guys, I'm glad everyone enjoyed the reports.
I'm quite happy with my results here. 9th on GC with Guatier in 17th and 2nd in young rider category for a few bonus points. I would have liked some points from scorring in stage positions, but that's alright. I didn't get in any breaks either, which really ruined my chances in that regard.

Glad to see JL pick up a stage win in SA. Not a bad race for us I suppose.
Nice work from Pirelli here in GC (3 in the top 10). |

Close one.. congrats to Rapha for this stage, but maybe Dowsett should have given this one to Bobridge In general, another low-key-race for Oz, but this 2nd in final stage is - at least - something..
And, yes, it has been mentioned before, but: great work with the reports, Count! It always a pleasure to read.

I think it's more accurate to say that this race just went horribly wrong.
Thanks though for the reports Count and congrats to Team Bianchi. |
