What a stage.
It really uses the potential of the Dolomites. That erases a lot of my disapointment from the Stelvio's stage |

Speaking of the Giro, the first 3 stages have been confirmed, they are all in Denmark:
https://www.feltet...ro-etaper/ (danish)
Basically, it's a opening prologue, of 8,7 km, it's said to be quite technical. The second stage is 206 km long, and it starts and ends in Herning. The third stage is 190 km, starting and ending in Horsens.
The article also says 8th of May will be a restday, before continuing racing in Italy on the 9th. |

Stage 1 of the Giro d'Italia 2012 (Herning-Herning, 8,7 kilometers, ITT)

Stage 2 (Herning-Herning, 206 kilometers)

Stage 3 (Horsens-Horsens, 190 kilometers)

Looks boring, but should be some good stages. Could be VERY interesting with the wind on stage 2. If its a windy day on that day, its going to be crazy. Stage 3 is with some narrow roads, so could be very a very nervous peloton both days (= possible that there will be a lot of crashes).
First the World Champs, then the Giro-start. I love being dane these years. |

Stage 2 looks potentially interesting. Also great to see more chances for the sprinters.

Awesome! Stage 2 starts 2-3 km from where I live.
The Thorsminde part of the stage is going to be great, although the wind probably wind won't be important be, as there's a dune between the road and the sea.
It's a beautiful area though:

Good to see an ITT prologue again. Crap to see such dull stages, I hope the wind can spice things up a bit.

With the Netherlands stages in mind, this could get quite "interesting" (some would say dangerous) if it rains / there's a lot of wind. |

TDF 2012
They just made the most boring route ever.

I really hope they change some of the profiles anyhow. At least some small mountain stages like the one in Super Besse 2008, which is categorized as flat in this overview.
Otherwise indeed a damn boring route. |

oh yes, 90km worth of TTing
Schleck doesn't stand a chance (yay!)
Alberto or Evans (or Nibali - if he doens't ride the Giro) for the win then? |

The battle for the win of the TdF 2012 is between Tony Martin and Fabian Cancellara!! No Toour for the climbers, so Evans, Contador, Wiggins...
What a dull route. Googled something about the mountain stages:
- La Tousuirre:
Average: 6.5 %
Length: 17.5 km
Height start: 560 m
Height top: 1705 m
Gradient: 1145 m
Maximum: %
- Saint-Jean-De-Maurienne top Annonay-Davézieux: finish location is a long way from the real Alp-climbs, so when I'm right nothing spectacular.
- Pau - Bagneres: ?
- Bagneres - Peyragudes: when the finish is on top of the Peyragudes, then this is some info about the climb: (www.climbybike.com)
Average: 4.3 %
Length: 20.6 km
Height start: 705 m
Height top: 1592 m
Gradient: 887 m
Maximum: %

If these are not just rumours at least we can be happy that ASO mistankenly leaked the route because then they may take some of the many complaints about it into consideration before their presentation of the route the 18th of October. |

la Planche des Belles Filles is a ski resort at 1100 m altidute, so that will be a medium mountain stage at least. |

I'm glad there's more TT'ing, but I'd like to see the profiles before making any judgement.
However, on paper, it does look pretty dull. |

Ofcourse some of the 'plain' stages are actually medium mountain/hilly stages.
But even then it's still a route for ITT-allrounders, rather than allrounders and definately not climbers.
Still, Tony Martin stands little chance the way he climbed in 2010 and 2011 |

I really like the route for next year. With more TT km and less mountain stages, the tour will be more exciting.
The climbers will have to gain more time on lesser mountain stages so the mountain stages will be very exciting. Also an explanation as 'we are waiting for the Alpes/Pyrenees, won't work next year!. Good job!
