Sergio Barrio has apparently stated that he would like to become a team leader in his next team. A role, he said, he could fullfill in a Continental team like for example Iberia. He said that he always had a good relationship with the UPS manager and hopes that he thinks of what Barrio said in negotiations during transfers.

This is the first news that I have heard of the existence of a "UPS" team, but Sergio is well aware that under the current state of affairs here at UBS, he is on track to take over in Schumacher's place as leader in the hilly classics if his progress continues. We have been with Sergio throughout his career, but if a good enough offer comes along, I would let him go to a team that can benefit his career progress, as he will most likely serve as a domestique here for at least a couple more years.

It has come to my attention that UBS Rider Vorontsov would like to ride for a russian outft next year. Can these Rumors be confirmed?

Vorontsov is a valuable helper that we have worked to develop, but he will definitely be available for trade if the right offer comes along. I'd like to see him riding for a Russian team as he would probably be more comfortable.

PFG - Armavia have looked outside middle east to find their new leader. Some sources actually claim to have seen manager Bjartne and PFG's agents in Tunisia and many suggests Armavia to bring in cash to secure Rafaa Chtioui in a transfer.
What would be UBS' response to this? |

Sorry for the delay! Rafaa Chtioui is a very valuable rider and will be key for us after the announcement of the TTT in the Tour de France. I have him listed as "depends on wage request", but in his case it means he will definitely be staying at UBS - BMC as long as we can reach a suitable agreement with his agent. So it is highly unlikely that he will be leaving the team.

We understand Rafaa's value in the team and will not chase him any more unless UBS should change their mind.

Riders Released
With the renewals phase underway, I can give the first update as to the future roster of UBS - BMC. Unfortunately David Lelay, Kevin Lalouette, and Rubens Bertogliati have been released. The first two have been released to accommodate the team's shift towards a more Swiss identity, while Rubens was released to free up space for a younger generation of Swiss riders that we hope to develop. We greatly appreciate everyone's contributions to the team in 2012, and we hope they all find placement on teams in 2013.
