I'd be amazed if he'd actually taken it at all, at any point in the season. It's suicide for one of the most tested riders on the planet.
Maybe he took another product which contains traces of it? Apparently traces are still used in many modern performance enhancing drugs, though don't quote me on that. |

Could this not be a bit like the Landis case? In the off season he takes Clenbuterol, then, when he thinks it's out of his system, he banks his blood for use within the tour. Then on the rest day in Pau he uses this blood, believeing that it is clean, only for tests to show traces of the steroid.
That didn't happen to Landis. That theory was based on Landis only testing positive for testosterone once, on stage 17.
It was abandoned when the court revealed to the public that it was just a lie by Landis, he in fact tested positive several times during that Tour.

Spoiler That article is reporting on Contador's time trial win :s
The only mention of a positive is Millar's in 2003 and isn't anything to do with Cancellara.

FOR GOD'S SAKE MAN
Don't you know not to post spoilers on topics that aren't about the race you're talking about.
Thanks a ton. Really.
God damn it.
At least edit your post to take out the spoiler. Bah.

Oh OK, my mistake. but you get the gist of what I'm implying.
Do you have a link to an article explaining that. I'm extremely interested in the Landis case and hadn't read that. Cheers. |

He must be bad at french, the only mention of doping in that article is a reference to Millars old doping ban.

The information is a bit all over the place in the news, so it might be best to search for the pdf of the court's final deliberation, as it contains everything.

OK cheers. So do you believe that it is merely a case of contamination? Or something more devious? |

Don't know.
To me it's an Al Capone case. He's guilty, so he has to be nabbed, no matter for what.

interesting, I agree with him, assuming all the facts the quoted were correct, however, like Isso says, Contador needs to go down.

"(...)any unexpected presence of CLENBUTEROL offers the doping authorities legally to accuse an athlete in any case, while the athlete has restricted possibilities to defend himself legally. While it may be very easy said than done, only if the athlete proves beyond all doubt otherwise, a defence may be successful"
In other words, Contador's done

Unless he saved some of the beef he ate in the tour, and it actually had Clenbuterol.

He was in that many doping rumours. Anybody knows that he was doped. So even if it was food contamination now, this is just poetic justice

Now we only need to get rid of Andy Schleck, so that the TdF GC battle gets exciting again. |

He is saying that he an 4 more eat meat from Spain day 20 in dinner and day 21 at lunch and the other one of the team who have to do the test was vinokourov and he eat meat from the hotel.
He said that he tested negative all the other days.
He said that the UCI have confirmed him that they believe that was an intoxication with the food and they have to ban him because of the rules.
More or less
