Well only in TTs later on in a Stage race. A higher recovery stat would make no difference to his capabilities in a one off time trial, or a TT at the start of a stage race
That was my point, he would go from failing completely in those TT's to having a chance of placing.

Just put some common sense to it, and stop asking nit-picky questions. If the rider's main attribute is sprint, or maybe flat, then yes, they'd gain the + 7 rec. to enable them to win sprints at the end of a tour.
If the rider's main stat is hill, TT, or otherwise, training in sprinting will give the rider a nice little added kick in a sprint, but won't benefit them with any added recovery, as they generally are a different kind of rider.
Also remember, if you were training Delage in sprint one year, his average would increase a fair amount due to the added rec., so the cost to train him in hills would increase.

Also, don't forget that SN holds a veto to anything you do in the game. If you train a rider's useless stat just to gain a useful boost for free, he might (only he could say for sure) veto it on the basis of the fact that it is cheating the system. |

I agree with both of you, but I feel that it's better that the rules be clear now than for somewhere down the line someone to fall foul of the rules and waste millions.
Although I trust SN to ensure the game stays fair for all.

It isn't cheating the system, but a tactic made able by a implemented statgain, and exactly why I ask. Instead of going for riders I could potentially train insane, but then all of a sudden isn't allowed to do anyway...
It's better to get it all on the table rather than having guys like me experimenting illigal moves, because I will experiment and I always have been. I don't necessarily want to go the path that everyone else is, but I don't want to break rules either.

So basically you are saying that you are using something put into the game to make it more realistic in way that was not intended to make an unrealistic stat gain to one of your riders and it isn't cheating, it's just experimenting?

Just a question, since this is a boost for sprinters, why not make it a part of the sprinting training? If thats possible in any way?

Deadpool -> Of course I don't think using a stat boost is cheating. It's free for anyone to do, and whether or not it is a smart move to spend 2 millions on Bernaudeau is definitely not a given answer.
And the reason why I'm asking is exactly to get it out in the open, so we can get the rule discussed. I might not be the only person that have been wandering the thoughts of making a rider with a decent sprint stat go up a notch or two in order to get a free extra boost...

Searching around a bit I came across a rider like Jukka Vastaranta. He is 76 hill and 75 sprint. Training him +1 sprint would cost 600.000 and give him +3 recuperation. That would make him a pretty valuable GT rider. He already is, but it will undoubtly mean that he can do a bit better...
A rider like Marcel Sieberg would cost 1,1 million to train to 76 sprint and that would give him 80 recuperation.
Mathieu Ladagnous would also cost 1,1 million and would be 79 recuperation. He would be quite valuable with 76 sprint and 74 TT. - Luca Ascani is almost the same deal.
Evgeni Popov could become a mini Blaise Sonnery, with strong climbing and very good sprints, and a free boost for the recuperation.
I don't want to check through the db much more, but evidently there are several riders that could benefit from the situation, and to be honest that isn't all that unrealistic I think. From time to another a new piece of equipment comes into the marked and some riders know exactly how to use just that and that makes them much better over night.

If someone was serious about making a maxed 74 sprinter of a level of use to the Pro Tour (ie 78+), and that rider had other useful stats (say 73 hill), then they'd train the sprinter to 78 sprint. There would be no problem adding on 7 rec. to that rider, as it was clear that the training done was to make the rider a sprinter.
If the rider had 73 hill, 74 sprint, and the sprint was only trained to 76, and then the hill was trained, the rider would gain NO rec. or only a small increase, as I would feel the system was being abused in a way that was not intended.
The sprint rule was implemented to prevent riders like Valverde always winning end of tour sprints, over actual sprinters. It's not there to be used as a "shortcut" to make an all round rider, or a puncheur or climber, have more recovery. In essence, anything that tries to do that just won't be allowed.

Alright thanks for clearing it...
I still have the open question as to whether it would give Bernaudeau +7 recuperation if I was to train him to 78 sprint. The main reason for me to do so was to have a rider that had a good shot at going in the leaders jersey of the Tour de France and he would also be a great leader for small flat tours with a TT :-)

If you were to progess him as a sprinter when he maxes, rather than as a TTer, I wouldn't see a problem with giving him additional rec. if you trained him to 78 sprint. If you progressed him as a TTer still, I am unsure, but I doubt it'd be turned down right away.
I suggest, come next season, you check with SN prior to selecting how you progress him to see if you would be allowed to gain the additional rec. if you trained him in sprint.

Yeah well the thing was that it would be ideal to have a 78TT'er and sprinter for the purpose mentioned. There are too many top sprinters with 70-71-72 TT for him to win enough in the TT's with 76 to have a chance to beat any of them...
With 78TT he would basically only have to do an occasional top 3 to be very strong in front. I had Thor Hushovd with 76 the past 2 seasons, he did exactly that despite him doing horrible in the sprints...

If youre looking for a definate answer SotD, youre going to have to wait several months. Theres no need for the allocation of the recovery stat to be examined and clarified for a while

According to developing, I´m wondering as which type of rider is considered Roger Kluge - FL76, TT74, COB75 SP75 AC75
sprinter, cobble rider or time-trialist?

These are the options, he will be an excellent lead out man/cobbled helper whatever you do, but I suspect that TT will give him the best chance to earn points in his own right, especially in something like De Panne
| Flat | Mountain | Hill | TT | Stamina | Resistance | Recovery | Cobbles | Sprint | Acceleration | Fighter | Downhill | Sprint | 78 | 62 | 68 | 74 | 77 | 75 | 69 | 76 | 77 | 77 | 68 | 65 | TT | 78 | 62 | 69 | 76 | 76 | 76 | 70 | 75 | 75 | 75 | 69 | 65 | Cobbles | 78 | 62 | 68 | 74 | 76 | 75 | 69 | 77 | 76 | 75 | 69 | 65 |

I would definately make him a TT'er aswell... He will never be one of the best sprinters, and is already a great leadout man, who can also get an occasional win himself. That wouldn't be changed by an added sprintstat or two.

SN will send you a list of your riders who will go up a level, then you can decide how they improve off a number of options
