Valladolid, capital city of the Castile and León region, October 26th, 2017. Forget about the 6th of June, this was D-Day for the Caja Rural family. Ignacio Gonzalez had once again invited us, this time in the top notch Palacio de Santa Ana. Built on the site of on 18th-century covent, is has become one of the most emblematic 5-star hotels in the area.
But we couldn't care less about something than about tonight's venue. In the end, only Gonzalez' message would matter to us. He entered the restaurant, installed in the former courtyard of the convent, ready to communicate the decision of his company. 'Guys, I have heard a lot of rumours during the last days. Rumours about some of you already being approached by other teams, so-called specialists stating that things are over for this team, etc. And before there had already been some serious blows for us, missing both La Vuelta and our World Tour license.
The life of an awful lot of people is stuffed with such blows. On its own a blow doesn't mean much. It's the way you handle them that counts. That's what you all have proven too.
After missing out participation in La Vuelta, you guys concentrated on other goals. The dedication, motivation and willpower you have displayed was heartwarming for us. Third in Fourmies. Stage win and third in the GC in the Languedoc region. A historical win in Lombardia. Second in Japan. Taking into account the results in this season, including Liège, second in San Sebastián and the Basque Country and wins in Vuelta a Murcia and the GP Miguel Indurain, how could we give up on you guys?
Here and now, I am giving you my word. Caja Rural is going to stay in the peleton for at least two more years. Two years of which we will only spend one in the Pro Continental division anyway'. Laughing at his own remark he's heade back to his table, but not without this: 'Enjoy your dinner!'

We're ready to show them we deserve that WT spot!
I have some DB editing left to do, so it might take a while before the new season starts

Jersey presentations 2018 - Caja Rural Caja Rural is the next team to reveal its jersey for this season. Surprisingly, Caja Rural, before both the main and the name sponsor, has been replaced by RuralvÃa, the online banking brand of the Caja Rural group. This was confirmed yesterday evening by general manager José Manuel Hernández.
The traditional green colour has been preserved, Caja Rural and Seguros RGA remain secondary sponsors and the team now has been baptized RuralvÃa - Seguros RGA. The National Champion jerseys for Ion Izagirre and Sam Vandenborre have been presented as well.
All shirts have been designed by Médé33 Productions, settled in Bordeaux, France. The accessoires were realised by the British designer the_hoyle, while the shoes were created by Jan Mayen, another Frenchman.
