Presidential Tour of Turkey
GC favourites:
*** C. Meyer (OGE) M. Nieve (EUS)
** J. Nokkvason (CCC) J. Acevedo (CSS) J. Gadret (ALM)
* F. Pellizotti (COF) W. Barguil (BEL) M. Landa (EUS)
Sprint favourites:
*** M. Kittel (BEL)
** F. Brookes (BAR) M. Guido (COL)
* L. Howard (OGE) M. Matthews (OGE) G. Ciolek (MTN)
Startlist:
Welcome to the first stage of this year's Tour of Turkey. Today's flat stage will start and finish in Alanya. Expect the sprinters to battle it out at the finish line.
110 km to go
After a fast pace in the first 25 kilometers of the race, a breakaway of two riders has a 2 minute gap over the peloton. The two escapees are Calabria (TNN) and Feunard (CSS).
85 km to go
The only intermediate sprint of the day is won by Feunard. The peloton had increased the speed just before the sprint and had almost closed the gap. However, Kittel has to settle for just 1 point. After the sprint, the peloton slows down immediately. Calabria and Feunard quickly increase their lead again and with 70 kilometers to go they reach their maximum lead of just over 7 minutes.
Sprint:
1. V. Feunard (CSS) - 5 points
2. F. Calabria (TNN) - 3 points
3. M. Kittel (BEL) - 1 point
60 km to go - lead of 4'30
45 km to go - lead of 2'45
30 km to go - lead of 1'45
20 km to go
20 kilometers left for the leaders, but with Bardiani, Belkin and Orica chasing them, it will be an almost impossible job to stay away. The gap to the peloton is just over a minute.
10 km to go
The gap to the breakaway is only 25 seconds and all the sprinters are at the front of the peloton, except for Ciolek. He is in around 30th position and he will have to waste a lot of energy to get to the front.
8 km to go
Voltali is fed up with his useless companion at the front and goes solo. The French tourists are going absolutely crazy at the finish line. It is unlikely Voltali can pull this off though. The complete 'Green Machine' of Bardiani is at the front of the peloton now, followed by Belkin.
5 km to go
Voltali is caught and the French tourists pack up their stuff disappointed. Back to the beach for them. A lot of green is at the front of the peloton now, with both Belkin and Bardiani making their push to put their sprinter in pole position.
2 km to go
Brookes is in pole position, but his lead-out has spend a lot of energy already. Renshaw starts his sprint now. Ciolek is nowhere to be seen and is out for the stage win.
1 km to go
An amazing lead-out from Renshaw, moving Belkin in the lead. This will be an easy victory for Kittel. Leigh and Guido are on his wheel, while Brookes has dropped back a bit. A gap has opened up behind Richeze, so these 10 riders look to be fighting for the points.
Finish
Victory for Marcel Kittel! He just powered away from everyone and takes an easy stage win. Guido could have done better if he had been on Kittel's wheel at 1 kilometer to go, but he still did a great job for the 2nd place. Brookes still got 3rd place, after a mistimed lead-out.

Scheldeprijs: Rubbish. Would not have raced here if I had known about the cobbles though
Turkey: Rubbish. How on earth did the two best lead-outs get dropped?

Really looking forward to seeing how Nieve will do here. He have been generally disappointing for me and he needs a GC podium here if he wants to ever be a leader for the team again. That means that it has direct influence on my Tour de France selection.

Good sprint from Leigh, hoping for good things from him and maybe Pelucchi here.

Nice to see some action even if its 11th place in Scheldeprijs.
Great to see youngster Maui Kalatoa in the top 10 in Turkey. I hope Pellizotti can carry his Trentino form to Turkey.
Thanks to the reporters for getting us moving again

The second stage is again a flat stage of 150 kilometers around the city of Alanya. Kittel proved to be the strongest sprinter here on the previous stage, but maybe the others can surprise him today.
100 km to go
At 5 kilometers from the sprint and after 50 kilometers of racing it looks like the breakaway has given the green light. They are only 1 minute and 20 seconds ahead of the peloton though, so Friedemann (CSS), Tekeste (MTN), Megias (TNN) and Zakarin (RVL) are not clear yet. 25 seconds behind the leaders is Gerard (BSE) trying to reach the front of the race.
The sprint is won by Friedemann, in front of Tekeste and Zakarin. The gap to the peloton has increased to 1 and a half minute. Gerard reaches the front shortly after the intermediate sprint.
Sprint:
1. M. Friedemann (CSS) - 5 points
2. Y. Tekeste (MTN) - 3 points
3. I. Zakarin (RVL) - 1 point
55 km to go
Bardiani kept chasing the breakaway after the sprint and with still 55 kilometers to go everyone is back together.
20 km to go
Absolutely nothing has happened in the last 35 kilometers. Bardiani and Belkin are leading everyone towards a bunch sprint.
6 km to go
With 10 kilometers left Bardiani had set up a great sprint train for Brookes, but they have some trouble now and dropped back. Kittel was on Brookes' wheel, so they both have to spend some energy to get back to the front.
3 km to go
Kittel has found his way back to the front, but he only has Leezer to lead him out. Selig, Leigh and Guido are on his wheel. Brookes is a bit further back, while Ciolek once again is nowhere to be seen.
2 km to go
Leezer is gone from the front, so Kittel is in the wind already. Fortin is doing a great job on the inside and he has brought Brookes back in contention for the win.
1 km to go
No one is able to get closer to Kittel yet and he even opened up a small gap to Leigh. This will be an exciting final kilometer.
500 meters to go
Kittel is still in front, but Brookes looks to be closing the gap. The win will go to one of these two. The others are fighting for the third place.
Finish
Brookes just overtakes Kittel in the final meters and wins the 2nd stage of the Tour of Turkey. An amazing sprint from Kittel, but being in the wind for so long was too much for him.
Orica's Howard takes the final podium spot, while the jury does not count the gaps. A big disappointment for Meyer, who could have done a great job in the General Classification.

Rund um den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt
Spoiler My first PCM15 report
Welcome to the 2014 Rund um den Finanzplatz race in Germans financial mentropolis Frankfurt. In this summary we will shortly show you what happened today in the race.
The startlist is very strong, one could think this is a world tour race. The three top sprinters Cavendish, Kittel and Greipel are all here. Especially the two Germans will fancy the win today in their home race. They both brought a strong backup from their Dutch teams. Add to that other strong sprinters like Carlo Calzone or Bryan Coquard and we will surely have an entertaining race.
Plenty of hills in the first parts of the race could favour more punchier sprinters like Adrien Hanzen or Thor Hushovd, both BMC.
The race is right on in the bad weather right at the beginning basically all major sprinters are involved in a crash and see themselves in a group two minutes behind the peloton already after 20k. Riders involved: Greipel, Cavendish, Kittel, Fenn, Hushovd, Coquard, Calzone, Henderson.
Noone is forced to give up though and soon later everything calms down, making it possible for everyone to join back the peloton. The days early break consists of Fraile(Caja Rural), Teklehaimanot(Lampre) and Bernaudeau (Europcar).
Just when we thought the hills wouldn't be used for attacks Julien Simon (Saur) uses the last bump for an attack with around 50k to go. The break is just about 2 minutes ahead.
But as it was to be expected the bi sprinter teams weren't going to let a break win and so everything is back together with already 30kilometres to go. Of the better sprinters only Richeze(Lampre) couldn't keep up over the last hills when the pace was upped.
With three kilometres to go there was one last desperate try to make an attack for the win by Bak(Vacansoleil) and Kusnezov(Movistar)

Kittel then launched his sprint very early (top of the picture which I forgot to take..) on his wheel Martinez Machado and Modolo. Cavendish also well placed and Greipel further down.
In the end he ran a little out of steam, but still enough to hold of Cavendish and taking the win just behind lapped Zachary Bell. Felline a surprising 3rd and Greipel not even in the top 10 after it looked for a moment that he would get close.

Strange to see Fabio ahead of Adrien but a podium's a podium. Nice to see us back in action again.
