All Danes, very impressive! Well, maybe later in my career, once I have a bigger budget. Am a little frustrated atm because I got myself a new sponsor who offered me a budget of 310k/year starting next season - and yet now, in July, I'm apparently still limited by my previous budget and can't spend more than 260k on wages. Goodbye Boswell, who so sensationally won the Vuelta last year by 1 second over Mollema.

Got a quick question on how to make the most of side winds. I was racing a stage in the Tour of Qatar, wasn't paying attention as I had the game in x8 and next thing I know the peloton has upped the tempo, creating a break in the peloton and I am left 2 or 3mns behind unable to catch the rest.

And it dawned on me that I never used that tactic when there was high winds. My question is pretty simple, how would I use the winds, if need be, to catch the rest of the peloton and to create a bit of a gap, a bit like Contador and Tinkoff did a couple of years ago on the Tour.

Jesleyh
It's pretty easy actually. When there's just a lot of side wind force, you should just put your best rouleurs at front and protect your leader, and then make a lot of pace.
You can plan when to do that with the mapfunction(spacebar -> Map), so I'd put my men at front just before that moment arrives, so they won't lose too much energy trying to get at the front.

The tactic does not always work, but I managed to pull it off a few times, yes. It's great fun actually Grin

Team Huawei - Red Bull
i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u660/jesleyh/Junk/Asiacareer_zps30f116ad.png

Yeah, as I do once in a while, I started a career in Asia, building up a full-Asian team. The Huawei pack looked very appealing to me so I used that.

Gonna keep this an Asian team as long as possible, what helped is that I upped the regen production of those countries a little bit Wink

CT team obviously, combining some talent with experience(Eugen Wacker being 39, for instance Grin).
Promoting does not seem realistic, but it is the goal for the second year.

How do you make sure a certain sponsor takes over after the current season?

I'm talking about a team that is not the user's one and I'd like to use Lachi's Editor.

If you're looking for a way to have a certain sponsor in the next year of your career:

1. Go in dyn_sponsor and change Contract End-year to the current year
2. Go in dyn_team and edit value_i_sponsor_future with this algorithm. You can find the sponsorid in the sponsor table. The bugdet is the total budget for the whole year and you must divide it for 1000.
(65536*IDsponsor) + (budget/1000)

So, for EXAMPLE:
For sponsor "Matt's Bakery" that has id 10 you must execute this:
(65536x10) + (9999000/1000)
655360 + 9999 = 665359 (the value you will put into value_contract_future)

The unexpected and unintentional ascent from nobody to star in just three month - a short story about the meteoric rise of 20-year-old Mike Whitman, who managed to find the right breakaways to not just win stages, but even whole stage races.

In 2022, Whitman went into his second season as a pro. He's certainly talented, already good at everything except sprinting and cobblestones, but he was only planned as a helping hand for the team's leaders. In his first season his only notable result was a 15th place in the Tour of Bejing, thanks to his above average time trialling ability.

In the second season he's asked to assist his leaders in all stage races from Tirenno-Adriatico to the Dauphine. The game awarded him his first professional win by crossing the line first in the opening team time trial of Tirenno-Adriatico and thus also the leader's jersey, though he lost it only a day later and worked for the team for the rest of the race.

But things really changed later that month when he rode the Volta Catalunya. After the two mountain stages 3 and 4 he was about 15 minutes behind the race leader Herklotz, when the team allowed him to try his luck at a stage win from the breakaway on the 220 km long 5th hilly stage. He wasn't strong enough enough to win the stage, but Team Sky apparently failed to realise how much of a threat he was for the general classification, he gained 20 minutes on the peloton and was suddenly in the lead by nearly 5 minutes at the end of the stage, which was more than enough to be crowned winner of the race two days later.

Unsurprisingly, from then on the team allowed him to try his luck with that tactic in every race. Next up was Vuelta Pais Vasco which traditionally has no mountain stages but tough hilly stages on narrow roads and Whitman was inside the top 20 when he was allowed to get into the break on stage 4. He not only won the stage this time, but again had enough of an advantage to win the whole race. And he wasn't done just yet.

This year's Romandie was too tough for him, he didn't manage a result there, but next up was the Giro. He managed a 10th place on the first hilly stage without getting into the break, he lost 2 minutes on the next hilly stage and 12 minutes on stage 8 up to Monte Terminillo. His first chance in a break came on the ultra-long 12th stage (260 km), where he claimed most of the points on the three cat. 2 climbs, but the break as caught and he ended up 82nd, 5 minutes behind. Still, that made him the team's candidate for the climber's jersey.

A lot of points were up for grabs on stage 15 up to the fearsome Monte Zoncolan. He gained 81 more points on the stage, managed a strong 2nd place behind Izagirre and gained back over 12 minutes on the race leader. He lost a lot of that time on a mountain time trial and the next mountain stage, which only had two cat. 1 climbs, the mountain jersey would be decided on stages 19 and 20, so he bided his time.

He got into the break on both stages, handily won enough points to claim the prestigious climber's jersey. And like in other races before, the other teams apparently didn't realise what a threat he could be for the general classification. He didn't win either stage, though he did come in 2nd and 3rd. And he gained nearly 20 minutes on stage 19, which placed him 12th in the GC. And still the peloton didn't bother chasing him and the break hard enough on stage 20, he lost 2 minutes to stage winner Aru and 2nd placed Henao, but he still gained over 11 minutes on the rest - sadly, not quite enough to win the Giro, but enough for 2nd place! Which he easily held on to on the final TT stage in Verona, which was only 15 km long.

To round off his fabulous performance that year, he decided to attempt a solo ride to victory on the short final but mountainous stage 8 at the Dauphine. He attacked right from the start, wasn't bothered by that fact that nobody decided to join him, didn't wait for the breakaway when it formed and held off all chasers by 5 minutes. Since he was down in the GC by 20 minutes he didn't have a chance of breaking into the top 10, but still, what a performance.

His racing netted him 387 points in the WT ranking and the star reputation. Admittedly, I smell a new Cunego, it'll be next to impossible to reproduce such results in the future, he still has room for improvement but the better he gets, the less likely he'll be let into breakaways.

Apologies if this is already on this thread but I'm just curious to know which riders turn out to be world class a few seasons into a career.

I am currently playing a career (with 0.5 stat development) and into the 3rd season, Florian Senechal has developed into one of the best cobblestones riders of the games (up there with Cancellara, Boonen and Vanmarcke).
Alaphilippe is also turning into a very good sprinter and still has a few progression stars.

In my third season, I can see that the Yates brothers have progressed a lot, as did Caleb Ewan (but none has progressed as much as Senechal for example), so I'm just curious to know which other young riders, that are not established (so no Kwiatkowski, Sagan etc...) turn out world class later in the game?

You can easily see it yourself by opening your database with an advanced editor like Lachi's editor or pcm fast editor and sorting by the column where the potentials are assigned. The scale goes from 1 to 8 and 8, btw Wink

So, I kinda gave in into buying PCM14 on a recent steam sale. Must admit I'm pleasantly surprised. Spent a couple of hours playing with Lotto Soudal (JESDG DB) yesterday, and for what it's worth I havn't done such a long session in PCM13, ever.

It's amazing how much more fun a clean menu brings to the table. I actually enjoy scrolling through the manager-parts again. 3D racing seems to be decent too, some great racing actually so far but I wait with my assessment for a full season before I jump to conclusions. At least Omloop and Kuurne looked to be fine classics so far. I've significantly reduced graphics in order to have fast loading times. Otherwise the loading times would be unreal.

Got Hansen in 4th at Tour Down Under. Van den Broeck and Monfort did a 1-2 in Volta ao Algarve and Greipel won a stage in Herald Sun Tour.

Guys, here I am once again asking for your advice. I'm on my 4th season with team sky (my second on hard difficulty) anda still having trouble with some things. My recent failure was at the giro. I'm at the 16th stage with the passo gavia anda passo stelvio ending with the climb to val martello. My gc contender is Mollema at 2nd place 3 minutes and some seconds behind Fuglsang. I have no hope of recovering this time but any win is ok as always. So I get to the last climb with Mollema, Kelderman, Dombrowsky, Cattaneo and Gaimon. It's a 20km ride moutain up. What should be my approach??? I tell what I did: Gaimon protecting Mollema, DOmbrowsky protecting Kelderman and Cattaneo upfront setting the pace. I've tried to always keep Cattaneo and Kelderman in front of Mollema and at certain point 3/4 ks uphill started protecting Mollema with Kelderman. Gel for the latter and button effort at 85 with Mollema. As the gel ended for Kelderman, gel for Mollema and continued effort at 84/85. The great gap I got from Fuglsang was 10 secs and as I noticed Iwasn't going to crave a bigger decided to maintain with him. We were caught by the chasers and even Kelderman (who I put in auto) ended in front of Mollema. Damn. Help, please!

PS - At my 4th season I managed to win Paris-Roubaix (finally) with a 1-2 with Sagan and Boom! Smile

I don't know if you do it better then me but I share my method. When mountain comes I set my second best climber on the from and set him on "effor cursor" around 85 or more (it depends how better is my number one guy). Then I put my best climber behind him and set "maintain position". If I have a third climber I set him to protect my leader.

Also helps to make short attack to make a gape between your riders and peloton or group of rivals.

Then my second climber guide my best climber until he has any energy and then I sent my best climber to do his best. The third climber is without energy long time before these two.

It works for me but maybe I did something stupid. I don't know. Grin

New career for me, this time with Sky, goal is to rebuild it to be 100% British/Irish, preferably without Froome...

January already over, and it's been quite good so far. No great results in the Australian NC, but San Luis and Down Under were quite successful.

Luke Rowe couldn't quite sprint as well as I had hoped in San Luis, but Nordhaug climbed better than I thought, winning stage 3. Brought no TT-specialists, so no result there. On the mountain stage Arredondo put some pressure on Nordhaug, only leaving 3 seconds between them. On the same stage Lopez managed to enter the top 10 of the GC. Final hilly stage was for Rowe after a break with 4, beating Canola, Vermote and Benedetti. Arredondo easily took the lead, whilst Nordhaug held on to 2nd, Lopez climbed to fifth. Final stage was a mess and went to the break.

Down Under started well with a win for Swift and a fourth place on stage 2, behind Vorganov (break), Schleck and Gallopin. Schleck crashed out on stage 3, which went to Boeckmans in a sprint, Swift 4th again. Stage 4, guess what? Swift finished 4th... Willunga Hill went to Montaguti who just managed to hold of Roche, Haas, Swift and Gallopin from the early break, putting Roche 3rd in the GC behind Gallopin and Swift. Final stage was a stage for the break, where Rovny proved strongest.

Hate to double post, but oh well...

First half of February has also been quite a success.

The Dubai Tour started with some frustration as Viviani got blocked, meaning Wippert could get an easy stage win. On stage 2 however, Viviani took revenge, taking the yellow jersey, which he held on to comfortably on hte Hatta Dam. The uphill sprint was won by Gatto ahead of Rowe who's in top condition after his brilliant showings in Argentina. The final stage confirmed we were dominating, resulting in a 1-2 for Viviani and Rowe. Field was too weak to get some serious competition.

The Colombian NC were funny too. Urán smashed everyone in the TT, and in the RR Sebastian Henao won from a break which at some point had a lead of 1h and 6 mins.

Finally in this update the Clasica de Almeria. Never had such an easy race on hard mode... Viviani had a bad day, so I had to go for Rowe instead, which was no problem really... At the end Zandio was the only rider from the break left ahead when Gaudin attacked. I countered him Pate, who was leading out Rowe. Tehy got a gap, also with L.L. Sanchez in that group, they never gave up again giving me an easy 1-2-3 as Rowe cruised past Zandio on the line.

Someone ever tried to start 1 year later than the career itself would?
( I mean by changing things in GAM_user).
Are all 2014 then skipped or do they get a random winner?
