Thank you very much for the organisation, Ollfahrdh. I'll take that top-10 as a result of being a bit unlucky with the draw position and just not picking the best riders at all myself. Looking forward to the next season. If you have the time and goesting to do it again, I'll be there
The game was definitely a lot closer than it was last year. In the end, I would say the most consistent team won. Let’s go over them one by one!
Ollfardh Paladins – 4th: Quite a few risky picks here, while some worked, others didn’t. Same problem as last year as the first draft round was bad again.
Biggest star: Thomas Pidcock with a big win in Strade Bianche.
Biggest surprise: Gerben Thijssen with a breakthrough year.
Biggest flop: Peter Sagan, not scoring a single point and ostensibly not even caring anymore.
Fab’s Fainthearts – 6th: They were really missing a consistent scorer to be more competitive. Ganna didn’t ride enough races and De Lie / Ewan didn’t score enough.
Biggest star: Filippo Ganna with a 2nd place in San Remo.
Biggest surprise: Filippo Ganna again, R14 pick not missing his classics debut.
Biggest flop: Caleb Ewan who is losing his status as top sprinter.
KB Cobblers – 3rd: Despite a slow start, this team lived up to their name and scored well on the cobbles, finishing on the podium!
Biggest star: Soren Kragh Andersen, showing his transfer to Alpecin was not a step back.
Biggest surprise: Nathan Van Hooydonck scoring more than just the assist points.
Biggest flop: Yves Lampaert kinda went missing this year.
IE Tulips – 12th: With many riders not living up to their expectations, it was a struggle to avoid last place for them, but they succeeded!
Biggest star: Edward Theuns, shining in those smaller races.
Biggest surprise: Sjoerd Bax, showing the importance of assist points.
Biggest flop: Biniam Girmay, who was destined for greatness, will have to prove himself again next year.
UU W – 7th: A great team leader, but lacking depth behind him, meaning they finish right in the middle.
Biggest star: Mads Pedersen, not getting that W, still the best of the rest behind the big 3.
Biggest surprise: Sep Vanmarcke didn’t crash, meaning he was a consistent scorer this season.
Biggest flop: Arnaud Demare, his classics days seem to be over.
Marcovdw Grandmas – 10th: An unfortunate combination of sprinters and older cobblers unfortunately did not pay off
Biggest star: Guillaume Martin kept the team alive for most of the game.
Biggest surprise: Marc Hirschi, who despite an heavy injury at the start of the game scored great in the final races.
Biggest flop: Sam Bennett, who abandoned most races he started in.
Nemolito Pacifiers – 9th: The defending champions never really got it going in this game. They should write a play, “Waiting for Remco”.
Biggest star: Remco Evenepoel winning another monument!
Biggest surprise: Matteo Jorgenson will be someone to look forward to next year, nice pick!
Biggest flop: Fabio Jakobsen never came close to sprinting for a win.
Bikex Red Lanterns – 2nd: An excellent draft got countered by crashes and injuries. Probably the most unlucky team this game.
Biggest star: Tadej Pogacar, Lord of Kwaremont.
Biggest surprise: Milan Menten with a breakthrough year.
Biggest flop: Dylan Van Baarle and his crashes.
Cunego 59’ers – 5th: Despite leading the game early on, their lack of Ardennes riders saw them drop to 5th in the end
Biggest star: Christophe Laporte with some huge results this year.
Biggest surprise: John Degenkolb returning to the top level, very unlucky in Roubaix.
Biggest flop: Dylan Teuns couldn’t find his 2022 level again.
BBL’s Bombers – 11th: After a rocky start, the manager vanished when the team needed him most.
Biggest star: Mattias Skjelmose is one of the best puncheurs at the moment.
Biggest surprise: Neilson Powless showing he can do cobbles.
Biggest flop: Michael Matthews with a rough classic season.
LLDS Wolves – 13th: A good draft but yeah, let’s just hope LLDS is ok.
Biggest star: Laurence Pithie, nice to meet you!
Biggest surprise: Some excellent names in the draft who kept them off last place for a long time.
Biggest flop: Jasper Philipsen not selected for most races.
Jaxika Hussars – 1st: A great team leader combined with some excellent depth. Deserving winner of the game!
Biggest star: Mathieu Van der Poel adding two new monuments to his list!
Biggest surprise: I really liked what Van Gils was doing.
Biggest flop: Probably Groenewegen, but they didn’t even need him.
Laurens147 Hornets – 8th: Despite having Van Aert, they never got competitive as the rest of the team let him down.
Biggest star: Wout Van Aert, despite missing the big win.
Biggest surprise: Romain Gregoire will be someone to watch next year.
Biggest flop: Bryan Coquard didn’t do much this season.
