From a design-point, belgian jersey is definitely one of the most beautiful. He reminds me quite a bit of Boonen in young years.
And hooray for "comeback"

FonsDeSpons - Thanks
baia - No, your comment was not one of those reactions I was talking about. Glad to hear you're still very much on board, though!
The Hobbit - Yeah, seems so
TimoCycling - Thanks
Shonak - Yeah, lovely jersey, isn't it? I wish to give credit to the maker, but I don't know who it is. So mystery-maker, whoever did the Belgian Jersey for Orica in the 2014 V1 Database, thank you!
sutty68 - Glad to hear
VoetsT - Yeah, Roelandts will give him big support in many finales! |

Tour de Pologne - Stage 1
Oh it feels great to be back here! Last year I surprised friend and foe by finishing second on the General Classification. This year's profile is more of the same, which means I came here with great ambitions. Let's hope for one place better than last year!
Profile
The first few stages are pancake flat. With the hilly stages in our minds, it's important to grab as many boni seconds as possible. Let's win today!
I spend a great deal talking to Gallopin, today. The new French champion is a real great guy. We spoke in English, since my French is just terrible.
I was brought perfectly by Carroll, our British sprinting sensation, and finished off the sprint with a victory! What a way to start!

This year's field here in Poland is not of the highest level. I'm possibly the fastest sprinter here so I should be able to grab a few high places in the flat stages. The hilly stages will be tougher, with Voeckler, Bakelants, Velits and Moser, just to name a few.

Our Tour de France was a story of both success and failure. Porte did amazing, after his third place in the Giro, he managed fourth here.
Goss was just on his way to make his comeback, a new career, when he fell out with an injury, most unfortunate.
We didn't win any stage, but we can't be disappointed about our Australian star Porte!
Rui Costa amazed everyone by winning his first grand tour, in quite a wonderful effort from the Portuguese ex-World Champion. He went on to win San Sébastian, too, a week later.
Anyway, I have a feeling the Tour of Poland might be just as great as last year. My form is way up, my jersey is giving me wings and the field could be much worse.
See you around!

Nice to see you are continuing Ian. Sorry if my comments came across as negative at all. They were never meant in that way. Yes, Matt is winning a lot this season, but it is not like he is winning every sprint and every cobbled race. I was shocked (and worried) when he could suddenly climb in a race (can't remember which one) and nearly beat Uran, but I think that was just peak form and a weak start list.
If Matt turns into a Boonen type rider, then I will be one happy follower

I must say that Matthias is looking good in his new jersey and the signing of Roelandts will be really important to defend his title as national champion and of course in the Flemish races. |

the_hoyle - Thanks for explaining your comment Yes, he did climb extremely well in last year's Tour of Poland, but it's worth mentioning that both stages were still hilly and Matthias peaked for the Tour of Poland then. Uran's hill stat was only 77 at the time and I'm sure he wasn't peaking quite as much for Poland as Matthias was.
It'd be great to have another Boonen, of course. But then one who can also take Sanremo one day
Shonak - Exactly my thought
FonsDeSpons - I think Belgium went crazy for a little while with VDB's podium. Maybe he can do better next year!
tpinot - Roelandts will be a key player, I think. He can ride a finale and open the race early. I'm also negotiating with another Belgian rider, one of my favorite in real life, actually. Hope to reel him in! |

TimoCycling - Porte made us proud! Yeah, Matt loves Poland!
TheManxMissile - I'll be looking forward to that comment but no pressure about reading this. Only do it if you find pleasure in it! Thanks for commenting, though! |

Tour de Pologne - Stage 2
Aww, I already lost my national jersey. But it's for a leader's jersey, so I won't complain too much. It's great to win the first stage, but I'm not done with Poland just yet. There are plenty of chances here for a guy like me and I plan to grab them!
Profile
Another real flat race with a fast finish. Avoid falling and sprint to the victory, that's the plan of the day!
We took the race into our hands. With only 6 riders at the start of the race, this is harder than in other WT races.
Bradley Carroll, our 20 year old British neopro, launched me perfectly again. We're really getting along better and better, the more time we spend together. I hope to race with him a lot in the future of my career, he's a great guy to have on the team!
And we keep a perfect sheet, 2 on 2 here in Poland! It was close but a win is a win!

Tour de Pologne - Stage 3
Profile
With profiles like this, you'd forget that Poland actually has a profile, too. A 3 on 3 would be amazing!
Poland is a beautiful environment to ride around in, I can tell you that!
Bradley once again with a great lead-out!
But I didn't have the legs today. I got stuck in Rowe's wheel and didn't manage to get out of it. Too bad, but I stay in the leader's jersey comfortably!

Tour de Pologne - Stage 4
Profile
The first hills of the race. A mass sprint is expected, but finally we'll know how the climbing legs are today. With the two tough stages coming up, the feeling on the climbs today will be more than important.
And what was the verdict? Well, I climbed pretty easily, I must say. But the competition looks in shape, too, so we'll have to see how I manage against a Fuglsang, a Iglinsky.
But overall the feeling was good!
As Bradley was leading me out, I saw the field was quite stretched out. I decided to keep my legs still for just a second or two, enough to create the gap. I really wanted to give Bradley something back for all his hard work, also during the cobbled season earlier this year.
They didn't know what hit them and Bradley was able to take the stage quite easily. Way to go, lad! His second victory, first in the World Tour. What a big talent, this guy!

Well, so far so good! With two stage wins, one win for Brad and the top 2 in the GC we're pretty satisfied with our race so far. But there are two tough stages coming up now. Can I repeat my stunt from last year? I certainly hope so, and I will do my best to be right up there again.
Find out soon,
Matthias |

Just catched up again and that drama
My own opinion on that (a bit late but yeah):
Of course, the wins come quickly but there is nothing wrong with it. You can have a story about a domestique or about a champion and as long as the reports and the writing are good the story is good, too. And yours is excellent. Please continue the way you want as then the story will remain at its best.
A bit more to the story:
Bradley really, really is a good addition to the team. He will surely be a very important man for you whenever Matthias is meeting the very best sprinters in the next years...
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

That's an impressive lead out, and a nice thing to do.
Would have been awkward of it failed though...
Anyway, great wins, lets see how long you can hold your lead. |
