Of course when a break wins, none of my riders are in there.
Basso should just crash out or something, because this is just embarrassing. |

So, anyone for the Dauphiné?
Nice to see Josh active again but maybe attack on the hill next time, not on the flat against Cancellara
BMC are just pointless. Can I sack riders mid-race?

Shall we sack a domestique in the TdF then?

Nothing could make Evans win this race. All I ask is for one of my nine riders (yes, we do have nine. Though most of them have been anonymous, I can assure you they are all still going) to attack.
But I'll admit he's doing a heck of a lot better than Basso, who is just embarrassing himself.

Was about to rage that Hesjedal let Porte get back when i realised he ain't gonna catch Porte anyway.
But really nice report, enjoyed reading it.

Silly day to stop going into the break, but surprisingly Verdugo have closed in on the top 20 so it's not all bad for us

Kreuziger... Why u no follow attacks?
I swear he's just been losing about 30s to a minute on all his main contenders stage after stage... Somehow he's still hanging on to that 5th place though

A brave effort from Cancellara .... again, but after two weeks in the Giro he couldn't go with Battaglin. (That second stage win doesn't look like it will ever come)
Kiserlovski continues to hold a great 6th place in GC.
-- Fell sorry for Evans. He did finish 2nd in this very Giro, maybe the database doesn't do him justice stats wise. |

What you need is a special someone to help out. Perhaps someone with unique motivational methods. Who has stood the test of the pro peloton and driven riders to results the community didn't think was possible. Perhaps you need ....

On which terrain did Quintana NOT lose time yet?
Still hoping for a Top 5... (would also take the win but saying that to "the press" wasnt the most successful way till now...)
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

A much better stage there. The 3rd for Rosa moves him up to 16th in the GC and a better performance from Pellizotti sees him move much closer to Kelderman.

Stage 17
A rather dull stage ahead of the three mountain stages coming up next? It looks at least like a classic transition stage. Well, the road to Caravaggio to Vicenza won’t cause much suspense, crashes aside, but it can turn into a breakaway fight or a GT fight too. But with the emergence of so many hilly sprinters here, it’s also likely that the peloton wants to see a bunch sprint for their sprinters before they have to endure the mountains.
Of course a breakaway forms itself relatively early. C.A. Sörensen (TST) is again in it after yesterday and really wants his victory. Similar goes for Johnny Hoogerland (VCD), Tom Dumoulin (ARG) and Gorka Izagirre (EUS). There are also Machado (RTL), Fedrigo (FDJ) and Sella (AND). Their lead is already 3 minutes at this early point.
Coverage is cut short as the race is a dull affair. The lead gets up to 7 minutes onto the peloton, but it decreases in the later parts of the stage. The sprint isn’t contested, but still won by Gorka Izagirre ahead of Dumoulin. At that point, only 4 minutes remain for the lead but the remaining way is around 50 kilometers still.
Three minutes lead, 20 kilometers left, on the way up the climb of Corsara. The peloton heads down into the climb a few serpentines down the road, while Izagirre leads the break. He looks very strong today.
Whenever the gradient goes up, you can be sure there’ll be a GT fight. But is today really the best day for it? Uran attacks, and Kreuziger is sure to follow. Gerrans and Quintana make a move too! While the four of them make a group, Hesjedal is trying to follow them on his own. With Quintana and Kreuziger in the group, Uran is of course not inclined to work.
Great ride up here from Kreuziger and Quintana, who both obviously want to show everybody that they are still here and very dangerous to anybody. Uran struggles to hold the pace, while Gerrans has already dropped. Hesjedal looked to catch up but he hasn’t yet and seems to have gone a bit over his limits. An attack from the peloton sees Betancur esacpe. Kreuziger’s lead onto the peloton, with Nibali, is 1’30 already!
Gorka Izagirre looked the strongest by taking huge turns throughout the stage and now he shows the reason why that was the case. He attacks, and does the proud heritage of Euskaltel – Euskadi justice. The basque team had a great streak of breakaways, with a little pause yesterday though. Maybe they just wanted to relax a bit and to be motivated and fresh for the upcoming tasks?
We have Basso here, who managed to make thejump with the last group, consisting of Kiserlovski, Porte, Pellizotti, Gesink(!) and Evans. Kelderman and Trofimov are far back. Up ahead is Nibali almost alone. He has Scarponi (LAM) and Betancur (ALM) ahead of him and looks to catch with them.
13 kilometers let and Sella and Fedrigo have caught up with Izagirre now. They have a decent lead of 20 seconds onto their competitors, but they’ll have to continue to work together.
Kreuziger and Quintana are racing great here today, but their lead decreases onto Nibali. Only a minute left. Nibali enjoys some great assistance from Scarponi, and they are close to catching up to Hesjedal and Uran up front. Gerrans is there too somewhere in between. Betancur is not inclined to help the chasing effort though. Behind Group Nibali, Porte is riding alone as he has set himself apart from Group Kiserlovski, where Pellizotti seems the most eager to make this work. In fact, the group broke up in the downhill, and now Pellizotti, Evans and Kiserlovski all ride on their own. Behind them is the peloton with Trofimov and Kelderman, where both teams are hard at work to lure back everybody in.
An attack 3 kilometers from the finish line, puts Gorka Izagirre in a great position, but Fedrigo is fast to counter his move. None of them is a particularly good sprinter, and neither is Sella who comes back again too. The others are not willing to get behind Izagirre and so Gorka has to open up the sprint…
It’s Fedrigo who gets the stage win for FDJ after cleverly taking Gorka’s wheel and being clearly the best finisher here in this sprint. A great victory for the win since the Giro hasn’t been particularly kind to them so far, but this may turn the odds for them in week 3 for good now and motivate Geniez further. Izagirre and Sella complete the podium.
Here’s hoping for valid time gaps this time around but there aren’t any. Understandable uproar in the quarters of Saxo Tinkoff and Movistar, where their captains are denied necessary seconds for the overall fight. Especially for Movistar this is now the third time of unjust time recording. Nibali’s group has been 45 seconds behind, but due to Hesjedal, Uran and Hesjedal finishing in between, there weren’t any recorded. After such an inspirational ride, this is a tough set-back for both teams. Scarponi and Quintana still further improve in overall classification though. Pellizotti moves back into Top 10, while Kelderman drops out of it.

Great AI there .............. Judging by the report the riders who were out in the break all day must have climbed the final hill faster than Kiserlovski (who was 6th in GC going into the stage). Yes good AI ...................
Well atleast Machado makes the top 10. |

I'm going to grab 11th and 12th, it's UCPCL all over again
Or maybe Kelderman is saving himself for the next stages? Yes, it must be that! And Gesink is only pretending to be a complete retard! We can do this!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Really enjoying Gesink's antics. If he continues Pellizotti will hold on to that top 10. Androni with yet another 3rd and Sella again. It is time for a stage win now. But more importantly please let Franco hold on.
Can we see the youth classification after next stage?

Well, it's fairly obvious isn't it? But sure yeah, I'll post it with Stage 18.Youth classification sees Betancur ahead of Quintana and Kelderman. Rosa is 4th.
