Premier Calendar: Changes to format announced
British Cycling have today announced the new format of the Premier Calender series for 2013.
The series will now consist of 8 races over the course of the season, with points awarded to the first 10 riders across the finish line on British teams. However, like the very popular Pearl Izumi Tour Series, the points will go towards a Team Classification instead of an Individual Classification.
The list of races and participating British teams are:

Rutland-Melton Classic
21st April 2013
'Britain's toughest One-Day race' opens the 2013 Premier Calendar, and Rapha-Bianchi come to the race with the team wanting to take the victory.
Rene Mandri will lead the team, where he is supported by Jonny Bellis, Simon Yates and Owain Doull in the sprints.
Simon Richardson, Tom Southam and Dan Fleeman add experience to the team, whilst Trent Lowe will have his first taste of the British Domestic scene.

Mateusz Nowaczek (Bank BGZ) took the victory in Rutland, after a late attack was enough to take home the win. Fred Rodriguez (Jelly Belly) won the bunch sprint to finish second, with Rene Mandri completing the podium.
Simon Richardson was part of an early break of 4 riders, who gained over 8 minutes on the peleton, before being pulled back with 10km to go. Nowaczek would make the winning with 6km to go, just holding off the peleton on the line.

No failed tests at Circuit Sarthe
The International Cycling Union today announced that there have been no failed doping tests reported at the recent Circuit Sarthe-Pays de la Loire.
Suspicion was rife about the performance of a number of riders, who took part in the race, with the main blame being pointed towards doping by many cycling journalists, including French newspaper, L'Equipe.
The news is seen as a sigh of relief for many connected with the sport, proving that any irregular race results could just be due to the rider's fluctuating daily form and not performance enhancement drugs.

Round 2 of the Premier Calendar, and we are in the North East of England for the Tour of the Reservoir, hoping to extend our early lead at the top of the standings.
Adam Yates comes into the squad to lead the team, with Simon Richardson, Dan Fleeman and Tom Southam again adding experience and offering support to him.
Rene Mandri adds an option to the team should it end in a bunch sprint, with a lead out consisting of Philip Lavery, Owain Doull and Jonny Bellis.

Efapel's Rui Sousa stole a victory in the Tour of the Reservoir, attacking a small group of favourites, to comfortably take the win. Russell Hampton (Raleigh) finished 2nd, 13" behind Sousa, with Adam Yates just crossing the line ahead of Tom Zirbel to finish 3rd. It was a good day for Rapha-Bianchi, as they had 5 riders picking up points in the Premier Calendar standings.

 Giro di Toscana

We end the month of April in Italy, at the Giro di Toscana.
A hilly course, so we will look for Davide to lead the team for the victory. Linus Gerdemann and Nathan Earle will support him during the race, with Trent Lowe playing a free role.
Damien Howson, Damien Monier and Fredrik Ludvigsson will work as domestiques, whilst Rasmus Quaade will complete the squad he continues his build up for goals towards the end of the season.
Diego Ulissi (LAM) sprinted to the victory in Toscana, taking the win by only half a wheel on the line, ahead of Oscar Gatto (FAR) and Moreno Moser (CAN). Villella just missed out on the podium in 4th, after he hesitated in the finishing straight and mistimed his sprint.
