mvhoogdalem
And Aeroflot has fallen off the clouds Frown I knew a breakaway would win here, so bit disappointing to not see one of my riders in it Wink

STAGE 16. A sprinter's stage on paper, but in this tour nothing is for certain.

i1346.photobucket.com/albums/p690/TheRider11/160_zps12389765.jpg

i1346.photobucket.com/albums/p690/TheRider11/PCM0779_zps1de9ec3d.jpg

The start is barely underway before Latvian champ Saramotins(BSE) goes on the attack, no doubt motivated by the success of the breakaway yesterday.

i1346.photobucket.com/albums/p690/TheRider11/PCM0782_zps8bfd3c5c.jpg

Riders in drips and drabs eventually pull away from the peloton and with 120 kilometres to go we have an 11 man break containing: Dean (TNA), Havik(SSL), Jorgenson(IKO), Ludvigsson and Veikkanen(KLO), Magallanes(TCL), Saramotins(BSE), Vigano(RBL), Sagan and Velits(STM) and Puccio(BZQ) who was best placed on GC @ 36:41.

i1346.photobucket.com/albums/p690/TheRider11/PCM0781_zpsc02d1cc5.jpg

Little of note happened for the first half of the race apart from odd crash. Zingle(SSL) crashed likely suffering from his exploits on stage 15.

i1346.photobucket.com/albums/p690/TheRider11/PCM0784_zps9f451dca.jpg

With 74 kilometres to go the break had an advantage of 8:00 when the peloton reached the sprint point at Beaumarches, which was heavily contested Hinault(SCD) coming out on top. Surely there would now be a chase from the peloton....

Points for points at Beaumarches:

But there was no chase taken up by the peloton, was this because no one was capable of chasing? The break holds its advantage at 8 minutes and even gain a maximum of 9:30 with 50 kilometres to go, Nokia Ekspla were on the front of the peloton.....From relatively early on it was obvious.........

i1346.photobucket.com/albums/p690/TheRider11/PCM0789_zpse0b4d790.jpg

The break was going to win. With 8 minutes advantage with 30 kilometres to go. Despite riders such as Van Niekerk(KLU) setting a real high pace in bursts for some reason, which did reduce the gap significantly.

i1346.photobucket.com/albums/p690/TheRider11/AF_zps431bd61f.jpg

i1346.photobucket.com/albums/p690/TheRider11/PCM0791_zpscfe75dc0.jpg

Like yesterday, it was again a great opportunity for teams who have yet to win a stage. With 2 riders each surely Slovak Telekom and Koenigsegg Libero would be in pole position.........

i1346.photobucket.com/albums/p690/TheRider11/PCM0794_zps3b8b35d0.jpg

Into the final, no attacks. MAGALLANES is the first to take up the sprint from way out...he has surely started to early.....

i1346.photobucket.com/albums/p690/TheRider11/PCM0795_zps917c3e4f.jpg

Saramotins comes out of his wheel and is holding well out front....but Vigano gets alongside........

i1346.photobucket.com/albums/p690/TheRider11/PCM0803_zps20783d0d.jpg

and will win by half a wheel's length, another really close finish.

i1346.photobucket.com/albums/p690/TheRider11/PCM0805_zpsbc72c8f9.jpg

WIN FOR VIGANO. 2 IN 2 FOR REDBULL. Saramotins gave it a great effort and finished second, Dean finished well for 3rd place. The sprinters teams have to ask themselves, why were they not riding especially Kulalu and Standard Chartered, both who have a full complement of riders...

Most classifications stay the same, except team classification, Telecom Namibia now leads Quilmes by 2'14

i1346.photobucket.com/albums/p690/TheRider11/PCM0799_zpscf33c934.jpg

RUJANO. With 1KM to go there is a crash. KOM Jersey wearer Rujano(PVE) is involved in the crash, the 3 kilometre rule.......is not enforced Rujano will lose a good 3 minutes, Zaugg(NEL) was also caught up and abandons.

17th in the classification still waiting on Di Luca or Vogondy though

Jesleyh
No. You gotta be kidding me...
Rujano reminds me of Gesink a bit, always losing time on unimportant stages.

@The Rider- are you thinking of doing this again. But add in the giro or the Dauphine or something. Cause this is pretty great.

Perhaps Wink:

-But I will use a different route.
-New rules for picking riders.
- Sponsors from more obscure countries if I can find the jerseys..

We have one of Qatar. Wink

I hope to see you writing a story again after this. Maybe a one-rider story, or a story with a team of a country trying to promote cycling in that country. (f.e. you start a team with Sahin Sucuklari and try to train young Turkish riders). But I don't really care what you'll do, as long as you come back with another story thing. But before that, first finish the Tour of the Chosen. Wink

Now it makes sense why the best sprinter of my team still in the race constantly attacks Banana

Cheers mate, but for the Tour of the Chosen I couldn't use the Qatar one as there aren't any Qatari's in the database Frown, a story after this one....maybe...Wink

STAGE 17 COMING UP TONIGHT, I think it is the hardest stage on the tour!

ps. fcancel..... keep the banana's coming!

I know, you told me. Wink I think you try to break a record with the Tour. Riding 21 stages in 1/1.5 week. Pfft

Dean could have sprinted there., a little too far back.

And that sucks for Rujano. Not very fair with the 3km rule. But PCM is stupid like that.
