I do like your posts in the Clinic, just biting my tongue for now.
Whilst the clinic is a good idea for a forum, it is everything that is wrong with the CN news forum.
Doping discussion is good; when claims are founded, when a rider puts in a good performance, more often than not that get a post in the clinic. If we watch cycling with a cynical eye, we will never enjoy it. Enjoy the racing, then if the issues come up later, tackle them then.

Oh it would be the same in an italian forum if it was Liquigas doing this, or a spanish forum if Movistar were doing it.
I just thought it was funny that with CN.com's resources they can't prepare the server to handle a load that can't possibly be all that high

TBH though they all have shown they could have been capable of this in the past
Rogers with his 3 ITT Worlds
Porte with his white Jersey
Wiggins is the one who mostly came from nowhere in 2009 as he did not have much climbing experience
Froome on the other hand was always known since back in 2006(someone may correct me on the year) when he was leading a UCI Nations Cup stage-race only to fall on the last stage and lose the jersey before the year after for Barloworld attacking over the top of a big mountain on the tour and finishing 14th in the last stage TT he then had a decent year in 2008 before getting Biharzia for two seasons and only coming back in the middle of last year. |

Rogers = ITT/ mountain? Ummm no.
Froome = Had never shown anything before the Vuelta
Porte = decent, but young rider put in by a break, lost time all the time.
Wiggins = Obviously good with 4th in 2009. But dominating all stage races now and beating the like of Nibali, stayed with Evans easily.

This is going to be a looooong Tour, if Sky keep winning.
I honestly prefer Contador vs. Schleck to this.

Yeah it's horrible now sky fans are going to think they destroyed every contender. Not regarding the 90% out due to fall and another 10% out due to bad preparation (sanchez etc)
Basically all Sky had to do is drop Nibali, Menchov and JvdB. JvdB flatted, Menchov wasn't good enough and Nibali was there until 200m.
The rest was never a factor due to yesterday or before the tour |

Lol at people saying they shown what they where capable of. Rogers showed he was a very good ITT rider in the T-Mobile time, T-Mobile was filled with drugs. But he is climbing better now than ever. Froome popped out of nowhere at the Vuelta. Porte is a decent climber at most, he won the Youth classification at the Giro, when he was in the break, where almost all favorites lost a BIG ammount of time.
And now they are doing what US Postal was doing, out of nowhere.
Flashback from todays stage

Rogers was 9th in the tour
Porte was 7th in the giro and top 20 every mountain stage that year in his first year as a pro
Froome : Is the once who was injured for 2 years with Biharzia so results from 2009-2011 are all affcted by this
Wiggins : As i said is to me the most likely as to my knowledge before 2009 he had never shown anything on mountains for 8 years as a pro. |

The thing is. In such steep finish Evans ( biggest contender ) was expected to take some time on Wiggins. Evans who on Fleche Wallone, could't drop Wiggins who is not a great climber on very steep gradients...
Did he take any ?
Today was perfect for Sky. Wiggins wins this in TT and doesn't drop time in mountains ( that's how they see it planned to win Tour ). They achieved that today.
Still long way to go and everything can happen. Crashes, Wiggins can blow somewhere etc.

I have to agree. Still, it was a very decent stage taking the fact that early mountain stages have been shit for the last 5 years or so. Maybe the alps in 2010 as the only exception. As a Valverde-fan and in generel fan of spanish riders it's bad, but looking past that i thought it was exciting.
Given the circumstances, tomorrow will be extremely interesting. Really looking forward to it. And i don't remember who thought Dan Martin could win today, but I think we after all can agree that their tactics today was a bit optimistic. |
