Ronde van Vlaanderen Race Discussion
wackojackohighcliffe
A race of phenomenal performances - Chavanel in the break then hanging on to Cancew then being there at the finish and still nearly winning, Cancellara huge attack drags Chavanel along sits up attacks again and again and again, Thomas pulling Flecha back countless times, Schierlinkcx being up there and so much more.

Truly a modern classic.

Shame about the winner although we did at least get to see the hilarious celebrations in the team car.Pfft

Best race ever, with best winner ever imo.. But great GREAT race!

I said it many times, and now most people will agree with me - Garmin-Cervelo the biggest failure of the year.

I totally agree and despite having bet Cancellara liked to have seen Chavanel win

Could have been the best race ever if it had the best winner ever...
Team Europcar !!

Man of the day Cancellara-Chavanel

Agreed.
Chavanel really doing a great job today. The strongest i have ever seen him.
As for Spartacus...well, i'm a fan, and as such disappointed that he didn't win Sad I think what happened today is similar to what happened at the WC in Mendrisio. He was by far the strongest today, but was marked out. In my opinion, he deserved the win.

That's the difference between Kim Andersen and Riis. The first has the riders, while the latter has the brain. I still don't get why Cancellara stopped riding, though Chavanel was truly impressive.

Christ what a race!!

Congratulations to Nuyens but Chavanel and Cancellara really deserved a better result.

Chavanel, even with the bad luck he had, finished really close to 1st place.
He was on the attack all throughout the race, and really deserved it.
I personally think Cancellara attacked a bit too early, and with better tactics, he could've won without a lot of difficulties

To many stars in one team, this is the problem for me

wackojackohighcliffe
1 Nick Nuyens (Saxo Bank Sungard)
2 Sylvain Chavanel (Quickstep Cycling Team)
3 Fabian Cancellara (Leopard Trek)
4 Tom Boonen (Bel) Quickstep Cycling Team
5 Sebastian Langeveld (Ned) Rabobank Cycling Team
6 George Hincapie (USA) BMC Racing Team
7 Björn Leukemans (Bel) Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team
8 Staf Scheirlinckx (Bel) Veranda's Willems - Accent
9 Philippe Gilbert (Bel) Omega Pharma-Lotto
10 Geraint Thomas (GBr) Sky Procycling

Flecha should not be leading for them next year and G should not be concentrating on the track next year.

Jonathan Vaughters tweets:

"Before everyone is overjoyed with their judgements: we had no one left to ride. That was Tyler asking me if he shd pull as a last ditch."

Where was you hushovd, klier, hammond, or haussler ?

One reaction -

I have to admit, I had lost faith in everyone but Chavanel and Cancellara, right up until the last few kilometers.

Nuyens was a big surprise.

Quickstep fail ...
Boonen with an absurd attack, and in the end didnt help each other
