Great GC win with Breschel.
Weird to see Eisel/Farrar in a front group on Willunga Hill and good that you had enough time on Pozzato.
Looks like yet another successful story.
And last but not least a very big congratulation for being the longest story ever on PCM Daily??? Not 100% sure but you just passed my combined PCM11/PCM12 Garmin story by 1 page. |

Thanks a lot!!! I know that the key thing in a long lasting story is the motivation. Right now, I'm motivated to make it 200 pages. When I achieve that (also thanks to all the followers who post replies!!!!), I'll see what's next.
Tour of Langkawi is next!

Tour de Langkawi
Next stop is the Tour de Langkawi. It's the first time we participate in this Malaysian race, and the reason is obvious: our sponsor Petronas is a Malaysian based company.
Last year, Polish Sylwester Szmyd won the GC.

Our team
The favourites
*** Thibaut Pinot (AG2R), Fabio Duarte (Astana), Amets Txurukka (AndalucÃa).
** Rubén Plaza (Movistar), Cayetano Sarmiento (Acqua et Sapone), Brice Feillu (Saur).
* Alexandre Geniez (Cofidis), Yuri Trofimov (Astana), Rafael Valls (Movistar).
Our goals
We have absolutely no GC-ambitions here. We focus on the flat stages, to take mass sprint wins with Marcel Kittel. We think that this is the easiest way to satisfy our sponsor!
Stage 1
The first stage from Dataran Lang to Kuah is only 93 kilometres short and the route is, except for a few short climbs, almost pancake flat. So this is option 1 to win a stage.
And the team works hard to let the stage end in a mass sprint. We manage to set up the best sprint train of all the teams, and with 1500 metres to go, final lead out man Pim Ligthart launches Marcel Kittel perfectly. With this great work by the team, our German sprinter has no problems winning the sprint and takes his first victory of the season in his first race.
Davy Commeyne (Accent.Jobs) finishes in a surprising 2nd place, with Samuel Dumoulin (Cofidis) in third.

It's good to see that the team took a good start, with a change of sponsor, it's always a question mark. The team confirmed the talent lay in their riders, great work |

Stage 2
With Marcel Kittel in the leaders jersey, the 2nd stage of the Tour de Langkawi brings the riders from Kangar to Butterworth. The stage is 173 kilometres long and features some short hills.
With the other teams not helping us (well, you can't blame them as the sprinters got destroyed in yesterday's sprint....), the BOTD gets lucky today. As we miscalculate our chase, the 9 riders of the BOTD will sprint for the stage win. Saur - Sojasuns Tunesian rider Rafaa Chtioui is the fastest of the 9 and takes his first win in 4 years. The 2nd place goes to Claudio Corioni (Acqua et Sapone) and the 3rd to Alessandro Donati (Colnago). Kittel wins the sprint for the 10th place at '46. Because of this gap, Chtioui takes over the GC-lead.

Stage 3
Chance of plans today. We want to be in the BOTD, so we don't have to chase the BOTD. After a failed attempt by Tom Dumoulin, it's the nestor of the team that makes it to the BOTD: Sébastien Rosseler. Our Belgian veteran and his 8 breakaway buddies create a maximum margin of 4 minutes, with Suar-Sojasun doing the work in the peloton. But with better sprinters than him in the BOTD, Rosseler decides to attack 45km before finish place Sitiawan.
He quickly leads by 1 minute, but then the 8 start to reel him in slowly. And with 10km to go, he gets caught. As we saw this coming, we formed a long sprint train with 15km to go, and our domestiques worked their asses off to catch the BOTD. But it is very, very close, as Marcel Kittel overtakes Evan Oliphant (Kingspan) and Alexander Khatuntsev (Itera) with only 200 metres to go!
So the 2nd stage win for Marcel Kittel in Malaysia, with Chtioui still in yellow. But the next 2 stages will shake up the GC, as they finish in Cameron Highlands and Genting Highlands.

Don't forget that Kittel is the only sprinter with Sp above 80 (85) and in a pretty good form. We'll judge this after the WT-races.
