It didn't last too long due mainly to the pace being set by Team UK Youth

The latest attempt at an attack comes from Zawacki/Hincapie Sportswear and he soon has the lead over a minute

He has been joined by Tuckerman/Airgas and Bonnin/Team NSP Ghost and together they have 58s over the bunch

There attempt comes to an end at the ten kilometre marker

The teams with sprinters begin to gather at the front ready for that final push to the line

Meanwhile at the back of the race a touch of wheels sees Piamonte and Beltran both of EPM-UNE and Faiers of Team UK Wales hit the tarmac

Brambilla/Atlas Personal comes around his final leadout man as he looks for back to back victories

But he misses out by the width of a tyre at the line as Van der Velde/Jelly Belly claims the win

The peleton are now putting down a fast pace as we enter the final twenty kilometres of todays stage

Only 22s remain of the lead as the peleton closes in

Lots of bumping and barging is going on as the teams battle for that prime position

Farrar/Team Novo Nordisk is in a good position right on the wheel of Bennati/Team Saxo Tinkoff

And in a closely fought finish its Goss/Orica GreenEdge who comes out on top

The pack are now visible in the background

Chavanel/Omega Pharma Quickstep has managed to bridge across the gap to the leaders

As the pack catches the break Paulinho/Team Saxo Tinkoff goes on the attack

He looks in a good position as he passes under the red kite

And he has time to savour his great solo victory

A fruitful day for the guys today with Tyler Farrar going in the break and getting time which sees him climb to fifth on the General Classification and Adam Blythe taking over the Best Young Rider Classification

7m 8s seperates our four leaders, Dombrowski/Team Novo Nordisk, Ista/IAM Cycling, Roth/Champion System and Wesemann/MTN Qhubeka from the peleton

Some riders are losing contact with the peleton already

The lead has been falling steadily for the last ten kilometres but our foursome are showing no sign of slowing up just yet

Team Saxo Tinkoff are beginning to gather at the head of the peleton

The pack have them back in there sights

Roth finally waves the white flag of surrender as the race all becomes one once again

Omega Pharma Quickstep are beginning to turn the screw as the pace goes up another gear

The red kite looms and Belgian Champion Boonen/Omega Pharma hits the front

But its the Italian Bennati who claims back to back stage wins for Team Saxo Tinkoff

Another good day in the saddle today with Tyler keeping his place in the top ten on GC and Adam keeping the white jersey

A group of five riders have gained a lead of 4m 22s with the best on GC being Taborre/Vini Fantini who is 22nd at 48s

The peleton are keeping them at around the four minute mark

The heat and humidity are certainly having an affect on the riders today

Orica GreenEdge are certainly setting a high pace from the front of the pack and are wiping away the advantage of the break

Kozontchuk/Katusha Team has decided to liven things up at the front by attacking

Its all change again at the front as Chavanel/Omega Pharma Quickstep and Faiers/Team UK Wales try to go clear but only twenty seconds seperates them from the peleton

Wiggins/Sky Procycling attacks and King of the Mountains Leader Paulinho is soon on his wheel

Sutton/Team Novo Nordisk has managed to get himself into the chase group behind which is being led by A.Schleck/Radioshack Leopard

And after dropping Wiggins on the steepest section Paulinho rides onwards to a Great stage victory

It was nice to see Gary get himself in to that select group on the climb up to the finish in Jabal Al Akhdhar and he now finds himself in the top ten on the GC too
