So, what do you guys reckon for tomorrow? It seems like a very difficult stage to call IMO.

So i havent seen a second from this years Giro so far, only two gifs from Kittel slaughtering the oposition in flat stages. Have i missed something worth mentioning, any abandons and such things? Looking forward to proper italian Giro now we are out of exile in Netherlands.
Btw. great PCM Daily drama on last five pages, i enjoyed my morning cofee reading it, just some things i have to say.
I feel bullied by TMM introducing a snitching system here, but as i should report it to him, i will be just bullied more, what can i do?
I want to be part of that Waglon killer crew, where can i sign up?

Jean-Christophe Peraud being brought down by a teammate going around a roundabout is the only abandon of note. Outside of that the gifs you mention sum up the 2 NL stages nicely

5 years now. Still greatly missed in the peloton and with family and friends.
Unfortunately in those 5 years more have followed, making this sport something so beautiful, aesthetic and all the same somewhat strangely sad. Cycling is all about emotions. At least for me as a fan. The good, and the bad. |

Geniez going for most combative rider award. Apparently he was mad with Hubert Dupont about something. Geniez got a 200 swiss franc fine.

Yeah, it is so nice to have him in one of the leader jerseys. It's like the first time a Swedish rider does something in a GT since Kessiakoff won a stage during the 2012 Vuelta.
Other than Ludvigsson, Kessiakoff and Bäckstedt, have Sweden produced any other results in grand tours? Gösta Petterson finished the Tour 3rd in 1970 and won Romandie that year. Then he won Giro in 1971.Tommy Prim finished the Giro 4th in 1980,2nd in 1981 and 1982 then 4th in 1985 again.
Gustav Larsson won a stage in Giro 2010.
Also Glenn Magnussopn took a stage in 1996,1997 and 1998 Giros. Also Alf Segersall won a stage at 1983 Giro.

Like I said - You are seeing ghosts. And clearly it is not fine by you since you are the only person highlighting it all the time. If it really didn't matter you didn't even check those figures... And thruth to be told - They don't matter, unless you are very young, imature or struggle with low self esteem. What people like/don't like shouldn't be that important.
For the past 3 days, all my post have literally been disliked by Waghlon and numerous others, while the counterargument havw been liked. Waghlon even told me that "if you say you don't like my posting style, I'm just gonna go ahead and dislike all your posts, hah!". If thats not childish, I don't know what is.
Obviously people care what other think. Its how we work, we are human. Calling me young, immature and to say I struggle with low esteem is kinda low IMO.
Anyways, I just leave it be, no reason for me to continue any further here considering you either don't want or aren't capable of pointing out where my argumentation has changed and why its somehow different than what Stromeon lay forth which you seem to agree with. I am with Riis123 here.If the route is horrible the riders can't make the race.
Berg en Dal could have been closer to finish in stage 2.But they amde pointless loops in Nijmegen. They could have done Oude Holleweg as well, though the road is narrow.
There are tons of climbs the organizations don't climb.
The Vuelta for example added Ancares but in the completely wrong sense.
There are stages that Descender and Libertine Seguros did in the Race Design Thread and they are great.1st is Descender's,2 2nd is Libertine's
(Profile of Ancares climb)
For example, the Tour has fed us with Alpe d' Huez for 29 times in last 40 years. We want to see different climbs. Not the same shit.
Use the French Basque climbs for example, use Lusette-Aigoual combo for example. We want to see Couillolle,Cayolle,L'Aberouat and many more.
And the amount of TT kilometres is too low almost all the time which is another factor at defensive racing.
The design is very important on exciting stages.Because if the design is horrible the race is mostly horrible and fans don't enjoy that, which means there aren't more fans.
About stages 2-3
Stage 2:Nothing.Kittel won way too easy.
Stage 3:Cunego losing 6 mins.He will go for stage wins then.Good choice.
Roglic losing more than 7 and a half minutes
Hopefully he goes to the breakaways now.And then pull a Sella in the Dolomites and have an epic race
And very sad for Peraud
And meh to the sprint.Kittel won way too easy again. He simply crushed them.

Surely all three were always going to lose big chunks of time anyway so losing it early means if they have the legs they can go out in some breaks

If I remember correctly Kruiswijk and Hesjedal lost a lot of time early last year and top 10'd anyway due to breakaways so not all is lost. |

Problem is neither of those 3 guys are close to those 2 climbing wise, maybe Niemiec on a good day, but those are stage hunters anyways |

I am perfectly aware of what you are trying to get to, but I disagree. Quite badly in fact. Not with the fact that poor racing will limit the amount of fans. But.......
If you make a poll in Denmark about which climb they are looking the most forward to, then it would definately be l'Alpe d'Huez. No matter what other climbs that are possible. If you ask which climb they would be most likely to travel to if they would visit Le Tour, it would be l'Alpe d'Huez.
And then you might say - "Yes, but those aren't the real fans". I agree. They aren't as cycling fanatic as you and me, but they are numbers, and numbers make money. It's as simple as that. The best music isn't number 1 on the charts. It's the most catchy tune, the one everyone can listen to. Not the most interesting, the best written or the most talented guy/girl.
When we talk about how to make money, it just so happens to be that you want to (and need to) please the masses. We can discuss (like I said previously) forever on end, which climbs, routes, hills, cobbles and such that would make for a possibly epic battle. But it just doesn't matter as most people are only watching a fair few races pr. season, and they want what they can relate to. History. What they know. What they have seen. What they have heard about.
