Tour du Gévaudan Languedoc - Roussillon
With only two stages here in France, both of them will be very important. The first one contains very few really flat parts.
First noteworthy thing is a nasty fall, with several members of our team going down. But Grijalba and MesÃas make sure Bilbao and Ochoa get back to the front of the pack.
Meanwhile Caicedo is on the road with breakaway specialist Di Grégorio and some less known guy, trying to grab as many KoM points as possible and dreaming about winning today's stage.
But their adventure is over with 5 km to go. Right when both groups are reunited, Gonçalves attacks! This might have been the ideally timed!
Oh yes! Gonçalves passes the line at such a high pace that he starts celebrating way too late. Behind Barbero makes a splendid 1-2 for us.
But the second stage to Mende, host of many Tour de France stages in the past, will give us a hard time trying to keep the leader jersey. Caicedo once again joins the break as most of the KoM points can be earned today.
The last climb is much, much steeper than it looks on the profile. So steep that real specialists are the only ones capable of creating a gap. Caicedo is reeled in and immediately Del Pino accelerates, shadowed by Betancur.
Over the top, only a few riders manage to bridge. They are Bilbao , Moser and Elissonde while Del Pino falls back.
Moser attacks at the right moment and strikes twice: he wins the stage and the general classification. Bilbao wanted to wait for the sprint but he did not get that chance. 1 | | José Gonçalves | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | 3h31'23" | 2 | | Carlos Barbero | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | + 24" | 3 | | Fernando Gaviria | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 4 | | Pello Bilbao | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | s.t. | 5 | | Koen Bouwman | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 6 | | Carlos Betancur | IAM Cycling | s.t. | 7 | | Benoit Drujon | FDJ | s.t. | 8 | | Diego Ochoa | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | s.t. | 9 | | Allessio Bottura | Movistar Team | s.t. | 10 | | Marco Haller | Team Dimension Data | s.t. |

Surely a great result in our last stage race of this season. Hopefully I was not the last one in the history of our team

IL LOMBARDIA - RACE PREVIEW
Bergamo's Citta Alta (High City) at sunrise. This is one of the oldest cities in Italy, showing traces of Roman, Celtic and Etruscan civilization. Today, the Old Market Square (Piazza Vecchia), Bergamo Cathedral, the walled Citta Alta and the Botanical Garden are only a few out of many curiosities.

It's been a long season and most of our riders are tired. We don't expect much of this race but still we'll try to show something in order to convince the sponsor to keep us inside the peloton next year. A top 20 finish is our main goal.

Il Lombardia
It's time for the final WT race / monument of the year, the Race of the Falling Leaves, 256 km from Milan to Bergamo, spiced up with some brutal climbs including the Madonna del Ghisallo.
A quartet gives Fraile a hard to time bridge, but they start the first climb, Colma di Sormano, together. We recognize Lammertink, Van Rensburg, former teammate Lasca, Preidler and Fraile. The gap is almost 7 minutes at this point.
Meanwhile co-favourites Alaphilippe and three-time winner RodrÃguez have to pursue after a fall. But they both manage to come back in the pack.
On the way up to the Madonna del Ghisallo Lammertink has been dropped already, with Lasca and Fraile also having a hard time. But Lammertink does come back in the descent.
But it's over for him once and for all at the next, longer climb. He's reeled in by the pack...
and Lasca has to let the other three go as well.
The pack has come very close anyway. When Arredondo accelerates, the breakaway is over. A lot of riders must resign now and will have to come back if one day they want to win this race.
Over the top, 23 riders are left. Intxausti knows he should tackle the next two (super steep) climbs at the front, so he holds the second place approaching the Castello della Moretta climb.
Strangely it's Majka who attacks there. Nobody follows but in the descent Urán starts to chase. The gap is almost a minute. At the back Intxausti is waiting for the gap to be closed and hoping he still gets the chance for the final shot.
But at the steepest part of this race, he knows this is the time to make his move. Beñat says goodbye to the rest on the climb towards Bergamo Alta and bridges to Majka on his own.
Together they start the descent, but Majka seems to have major difficulties to keep Beñat's wheel. A gap has been made.
And this gap growing allows Intxausti to celebrate the moment when he realises he's just secured his second monument of the season. He points at the sky, dedicating this win once again to his late friend, bless him, Xavi Tondo.
Majka holds on to the second place while Urán beats Pinot in a sprint for the last podium spot.2017 Il Lombardia results: 1 | | Beñat Intxausti | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | 6h32'25" | 2 | | Rafał Majka | Tinkoff-Saxo | + 48" | 3 | | Rigoberto Urán | Astana Pro Team | + 2'02" | 4 | | Thibaut Pinot | Etixx-Quickstep | s.t. | 5 | | Wout Poels | Orica-GreenEDGE | + 2'38 | 6 | | Nairo Quintana | Movistar Team | + 3'26 | 7 | | Bauke Mollema | Team Katusha | s.t. | 8 | | Davide Formolo | Etixx-Quickstep | s.t. | 9 | | Leopold König | Team Dimension Data | s.t. | 10 | | Julian Arredondo | BMC Racing Team | s.t. |

Though he's unavoidable in our eyes I'm pretty sure Quintana will get it after having won both the Giro and le Tour this year
I hear you! This is even the very first time I managed to win Il Lombardia, that +5 form was welcome

Thanks Shleck! It looks like we'll be joining the WT next year! At least if the situation on the previous page gets resolved

Japan Cup
With a lot of hills to climb in this circuit race, the route normally should suit a puncher or a climber with some skills on the flat. But it could also come down to who's still motivated so late in the season.
Sixty kilometers to go Parra has bridged to the initial break of the day, which is down to 2 riders at that moment. But none of them 3 will make it to the line.
At the last climb, Guerreiro attacks, countered by Arredondo and Manfredi. They enter the last kilometers together...
But it's the Colombian who shows to be both the strongest and the smartest. Behind Barbero pulls off a great sprint and grabs second, with Guerreiro holding on to 5th. 1 | | Julian Arredondo | BMC Racing Team | 5h00'48 | 2 | | Carlos Barbero | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | s.t. | 3 | | Jordi Simón | Movistar Team | s.t. | 4 | | Allessio Bottura | Movistar Team | s.t. | 5 | | Ruben Guerreiro | Caja Rural - Seguros RGA | s.t. | 6 | | Gianluca Brambilla | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | 7 | | Carlos Betancur | IAM Cycling | s.t. | 8 | | Kenny Elissonde | FDJ | s.t. | 9 | | Odd Christian Eiking | Roompot-Oranje Peloton | s.t. | 10 | | Shan Shuang | Roompot-Oranje Peloton | s.t. |
