Did de Vreese finish higher than Rowe? He was around, Rowe completely parked on the Kwaremont.
P.S Nobody mentioned Sky's monumental fail yet.

Well, really no point talking about them is there?

Not the best De Ronde in years, but still pretty interesting race. Kristoff is just beasty and deserved winner. I also dont think that Etixx decided for the best possible tactics with Å tybar again had to play the anchor role for Terpstra, when he looked so strong.
Sagan not in the best form this year, but still great feat to chase GVA pulling his beasty attack and finish 4th.
Excited for Roubaix now, i hope Å tyby will pull something out and Sagan too. Kristoff himself said he is not so optimistic for Roubaix and Vanmarcke will look for revenge.
Benoot, wow.

Haha
Wiggins clearly viewed them as a marginal loss as well going by the look of disdain on his face as he cast it aside with his usual élan.
In all seriousness, not sure what happened to Thomas, his attack on the Kwaremont faded quickly after looking promising and he ended up 14th(? iirc, PCS hasn't got down that far yet). Maybe they've switched him to the Tour programme early

Terpstra very strong today but you can do nothing against that Norwegian monster. The new Hushovd! |

Yeah guys like Vanmarke and Thomas didn't have it today. Vanmarke in wrong places, that usually though is mark of a guy not at his best.
Sky rode like rabbit in headlights, far too many times at front. Thomas fired his bullet on Kwaremont but bar that was just defensive from them. For it was one race too many for him.
Van Avermart looked as strong as terpstra at least he jus missed the moment, BMC often do.
Etixx again second, for me terpstra was in tricky situation. Okay Stybar and Thomas had similar at E3 with Sagan but that was 2 vs 1. Here after Paterberg I dunno I would have thought it would have been better to sit. But it is always difficult to beat strongest.
Something with Katusha they seem to tactically do well, I don't recall seeing much of any riders of theirs on front at any point. MSR Paolini just ran out of gas 100m too soon.
Kristoff for me has looked strong all season deserved and nice winner great rider a nice addition to Flanders winners. The way he ride Paterburg and just kept his cool at end. He is doing the rides we thought Sagan would do right now.
No idea what to expect next week it is of course a different race. Boom looked better today and Stybar couldn't really go for it, Degenkolb perhaps?
Finally that young Belgian great ride.

Wow Kristoff! Really excited for Roubaix now, perhaps not the best but a very entertaining display, in the end he watched Terostra like a hawk.
For Tiesj Benoot! What a great race from the young gun!
And lastly, unlucky for Jesse Sergent, but at least he made the break!
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Wait a few years, Skjerping (Cannondale - Garmin) second on the youth RVV last year along with probably Norway's biggest classics talent Bystrom, this is only the beginning. Kristoff's coach said their next project is to improve his climing skills, see you in Liege in a couple of years! |

Disagree, Kristoff is stronger than Hushovd ever has been! And it's mad to think about this guy is only 27, imagine what he could do with more than 2 guys dedicated for him in the future
And I dont know why nobody believed in Gerraint Thomas, he performed well in my opinon!
Can't wait for Roubaix next week, but highly doubt Kristoff will make the double with the team he got around him and everybody ``finally knowing`` how strong he can be, not just in the final K's.

Fun fact:
Styby lost his fake teeth with 70km to go. Fake teeth courtesy of that horrible Eneco crash he lost his original ones. |

Despite having a great race, I'm still not satisfied with the cobblers. Again the decisive move was made on normal roads. I'm still waiting for someone to destroy the field on a cobbled section. Varmarcke's attack in Omloop was good and Van Avermaet's attack on that last Pater was impressive as well, but nothing like Cancellara or Boonen yet. On to Roubaix then!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Without Cancellara and Boonen those races becomes unpredictable and the winner win without a large margin because most of the attacks happen in flat and not on cobbles |

Boring flanders, good final 30k though.
Although I really dislike Terpstra, I can't join the haters today on his tactics. I think he did the best possible. Not riding sooner would've caused him to finish even worse. Attacking would just mean Kristoff countering easily, it doesn't work with a 2 man group when the other guy has already proven to be stronger/as strong as you (Paterberg). Terpstra just had the bad luck that the strongest man in the race reacted to his attack. Regardless of tactics 2nd was the best possible result for him today.

The new Hushovd? Lol. Kristoff is so much better it's not even funny anymore.
How many monuments did Hushovd win?
Yeah.
Exactly.
Zero. |

ruben is correct once more. Kristoff last years power show..as top 3 sprinter at dead flat stages. Classics ace..amazing rider.
How BMC missed that talent? Now he just needs veteran Paolini to beat strong classic teams. |

The sky is the limit for Kristoff right now he is such a complete sprinter. Already 2 monuments in his palmares while a guy like sagan can't even do anything. He can't even use his strength to his advantages. |

Team Sky wrecked there own chances of a good result by spending too much time on the front and then leaving Thomas on his own for the finale |
