The only reason Farrar was "close" to Cavendish was because he always took Cav's wheel. He never really challenged Cavendish.
It's not like if you took Cavendish out the race, Farrar would have started winning the sprints.

I'm sorry that isn't right in 09 and 10 and 11 Farrar had is own train. It is like Pellizotti2 said The best farrar disapperard together with Wouter but he won a tour stage after wouter's death in the same year.

STOP QUOTING!!!
Garmin taking Farrar to the TDF would be like Sky taking Swift. Neither of them can challenge the top sprinters or help the team leader, so what's the point. Yes, they could both get stage top tens but so what! If you're a Garmin fan, you should be happy they're not taking him because year after year, they've been taking Farrar to the Tour and he's done nothing, except for one lucky stage win where Hushovd dragged him to the line and all the other sprinters got taken out by some mad Frenchman at the last corner. He just isn't quick enough. Simple.
You need strong rouleurs like Bauer if you want any chance of a decent GC result. Look at Sky with Pate last year and it will be Stannard this year. They can just pull the peloton along for pretty much the whole day. They're not world class climbers and they don't need to be because the rest of the team can do the climbing (in Garmin's case, Dennis, Danielson etc.). The climbers will be completely fresh when they get to the climbs because Bauer, Millar and Navardauskas have been doing the work whereas Farrar would probably be sitting at the back of the peloton waiting to get a ticket for the bus.
Pate wasn't even in the Tour last year iirc.

Just because he had a "train" doesn't mean didn't follow Cav's wheel when the actual sprints kicked off. Garmin train was not even close to Columbia's.
Bottom of line is he never was a real contender in front of Cavendish.

Cav had his own train during that time too.
Farrar isn't what he used to be but he is definetly getting better. He beat Sagan a few times in Cali and might have won a stage in Suisse if he wasn't cut off by Demare.

No one really. Except for Greipel, who was in the same team.
But, someone said that he was the only one that could come close to Cavendish. Which is not true because he was nowhere near close to Cavendish.

I think Garmin is really targetting the TTT. Vansummeren would be a better domestique than Bauer imo, they just took Bauer because he can timetrial. Just like they took Navardauskas over Vansummeren to win the 2011 TTT. |

I never got it why the UK champ jersey looks like a white jersey with Dutch flag on it. Can't they put a union flag on it instead? |

He will wear the green jersey all the time, so that is no problem, for now |

This will be good. Please explain why they should have invited someone who brought the sport so greatly into disrepute.

Then why ever have anyone who doped return?
He did much more to boost cycling in the US than anyone before, and even now he is still held in fairly high regard by most people who came to the sport because of his achievements.
Not saying he should be invited, but you can't then invite any other ex-dopers, and that includes people like Hincapie.

Because you can't invite alle the riders of that period they all did it.
it is still a great achievement to be 7 times not caught. |
