PCM.Daily Fantasy Cycling Season 2018
roturn
Tour de Luxembourg
Spoiler

Pasqualon with a really impressive form recently and winning another event. This time in HC category. In general a race or week for 3rd tier riders.

Abishek with a good duo of Tratnik and Krieger (who finally seems to have found his talent of younger days).

Boucles de la Mayenne
Spoiler

Marco with the big pick here in GC winner Van der Poel. Easily best of the league here with NicoVirenque following.

GP Citta di Lugano
Spoiler

The GP Lugano stepped down from HC to .1 but still croatia scored HC like due to the winning 1-2 Pernsteiner and Sbaragli.

In general a strong Bahrain performance with 5 riders in the top8.

roturn
None of those four are 100% correct, but it should be mostly accurate with late changes only.

Tour de Suisse
2018-06-09 - 2018-06-17

The second Tour de France preparation race in June. Not as mountaineous maybe as the Dauphinee but with a big ITT coming up on the final day and with a huge startlist around Quintana, Landa as strong Movistar duo.

Spoiler
Spoiler
- 56% of the peloton are in the Fantasy League
- Top Riders: T.Wellens, M.Landa, J.Fuglsang, W.Kelderman, S.Oomen, S.Kruijswijk, R.Kreuziger, F.Gaviria, J.Degenkolb, T.VanGarderen
- Watch out: M.Albasini, S.Spilak, E.Mas, H.Pernsteiner, R.Taaramae, A.Amador

Tour de Slovenie
2018-06-13 - 2018-06-17

Might be 2.1 only but the starter field impresses. Led by Roglic Abishek has easily the top rider here.
Impey for sutty another excellent rider while Kittel, Ewan, Modolo, make it a solid sprinter field with Groenewegen being the undraftable here.

Majka, Formolo as GC riders next to Roglic.

Spoiler
Spoiler

Rund um Köln
2018-06-10

Sprinters or puncheurs? Definitely must be good in both. Sam Bennett as former winner is here to get another one.

Kittel as biggest sprint challenger but might not have it after the hills.

Watch out for Krieger. He is coming with great form from Luxembourg.

Spoiler
Spoiler

Ronde van Limburg
2018-06-10

Small league startlist but some of the best here challenging undraftable Bouhanni, who has found his form recently.

Dupont, De Haes, Claeys, Ligthard, Van der Poel...lots of potential winners here.

Yeah, Atapuma isn't doing anything in Switzerland. Pfft

De Bie just came 4th in GP Kanton Aargau - Gippingen and I reckon he's on some good form for Köln, maybe some of our guys in Slovenia can steal some points with quite a few riders for us. Smile

Thanks Roturn! Grin

Tamijo
Suisse, first time to see Kelderman after his fractured collarbone in Tirreno.
Hope he stays in the saddle this time.

roturn
Criterium du Dauphine
Spoiler

A strong TTT and then Thomas continued to show good form in the mountains to dominate the Dauphinee.
Only Adam Yates, Dan Martin, Bardet and a strong Buchmann were as strong in the mountains, though lacked the skills in the TT to really contest for more.

League wise that`s huge points for hillis of course as also for jandal.

NicoVirenque is getting decent points from young Buchmann, who is having another solid development while also Caruso is in form before the TdF for Marco and Impey is back for sutty to keep him up.

Rund um Köln
Spoiler

Having the race winner never is bad. Hence jseadog with Sam Bennett takes the prime here while jaxika got lots of points by Raim, who did beat several bigger names.

Kittel for alexkr basically underperformed yet again and "only" 32 points for him.
Young Lienhardt, Krieger and De Bie also in the top10 and hence double digit points.

Ronde van Limburg
Spoiler

Again, the race winner Van der Poel is giving the win. This time for Marco. Special mention to sutty. Even without Impey he got good points here from the duo Merlier/Blythe.

trekbmc
Wow, Galliopin is really having a bad season, Rosskopf scored something at least and De Bie as usual is consistant as one of our best riders. Smile

Thanks Roturn! Grin

Well done sutty. Impey one of the riders of the year so far. Yet again performing. 2nd today on stage and gc after the uphill finish in Slovenia beating the likes of Roglic, Majka, Formolo.

What would i do without Impey Cool

Results

Tour de Suisse
Spoiler

ivaneurope had a standout Tour de Suisse. Not only the best individual league rider in Fuglsang as 2nd in the GC but also doubled his points due to strong performances by Gaviria, Vichot and in parts Sicard. 431 points in total and hence almost twice as much as runner-up Aquarius, who had the highest average per rider due to Enric Mas mainly and some smaller points by Van Garderen.

Marco with 199 pts scored a lot but he also had the most riders in the race and hence a rather average average only.

Küng and Kragh Andersen as probably the biggest non GC scorers. Both with 100+ races for alexkr and Croatia.

Tour de Slovenie
Spoiler

A race for the Sloveniens. A trio of them as well top scoring here. GC winner Roglic with huge points for Abishek while dominox picked Mohoric and Pogacar right. Later is a very young talent with massive potential.

Majka as maybe biggest name alongside Roglic and Uran GC wise lost in the TT and drops down to 4th in the league.

Route d'Occitanie
Spoiler

The former Route du Sud saw a dominant Valverde and a continuation of the sprint battle of the Cofidis duo Bouhanni/Laporte. Actually first did win this here and hence more points for the undraftable.

Leaguewise a good opportunity for the 2nd/3rd tier Sky train riders and hence Elissonde with a decent podium and 71 points for OZrocker, which also deliver him the title.

Rochenbach for Croatia and LL Sanchez for hillis following with 50+ scorings.

Elfstedenronde
Spoiler

A good Sutty race again without Impey even. Blythe wins the Belgium classic ahead of Vermeltfoort (kaxika) and Hofstetter (dominox), who continues to be an impressive pick and is surely a rider to watch for seasons to come.

Jensen next ahead of Krieger, who also shows great form recently and might (finally) step up his game.

Fyen Rundt
Spoiler

Gome win for Mads Pedersen and hence nice 80 points for Abishek. Looij and Guldhammer as only other scorer here in a small startlist league event.

Startlists

Adriatica Ionica Race
2018-06-20 - 2018-06-24

Spoiler
Spoiler

The (apparently) new Italian race is used as NC prep race for many Italians and also is coming handy ahead of the Tour de France.

Sprinters such as Viviani (Jaxika), Trentin (Tamijo), Wippert (Sutty), Consonni (ember), Minali (Aquarius), Cavendish (sutty), Sbaragli (Croatia), Nizzolo (trekbmc) are at the start alongside allrounders Canola/Visconti (hillis), Gavazzi (jseadog), Ciccone (alexkr), Raim (jaxika), Bambilla (trekbmc) or Hermans (ember).

Special race for ivaneurope`s Cunego as it is his last real race of a long career. Only the Nationals to come after this, hence expect some attacks by him.

Ollfardh
Looij saving the day in what will be my worst season ever.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

trekbmc
Well we scored almost nothing that update, come on Autumn! Pfft

Maybe Nizzolo can do something finally in Adriatica, he's done nothing so far as our top pick.

I still feel so dumb for trying to get Laporte later than he deserved. Sad

Thanks Roturn! Smile

dominox
Yay! Being first in the rankings has officially ended for me. Cannot wait to see how far I will slip at the end of season Grin

roturn
Post NCs there will be rankings for ITT and RR NCs. All together and not seperated between countries.

But on a first view, trekbmc is doing impressive. Of first 7 ITT NCs, he already did win 3 with Cerny in Czech, Grivko in Ukraine and Rosskopf in USA.

Only other winner is Abishek with Campenaerts in Belgium. Actually he also had Barta as 2nd in Czech.

So clearly the two big winners so far.

roturn
Dwars door het Hageland - Aarschot
Spoiler

Neilands with a big win prior to the NCs. Though jaxika with the 2-3 of Viviani and Vermeersch takes the top scoring as also Dupont did deliver.

Baugnies, De Bie as well with some scoring.

Halle - Ingooigem
Spoiler

Van Poppel as well showed good form recently with Jakobsen continueing his great neo-season. Also De Bie and Hofstetter with huge consistency in 2018.

dominox ahead of individual winner Croatia with the top scoring.

Adriatica Ionica Race
Spoiler

No one drafted race winner Sosa. Seems as if Androni can find the Colombian jewels year for year and in the post Bernal era in the team, young Sosa is another rider that seems to be a future great.

Top league rider was Ciccone, who also has a big season so far. Hence alexkr takes the win ahead of Jaxika, who has the 2018`s top pick in Viviani by the look of it.

National Championships RR
Spoiler

Hard to say how the NCs scoring is made. Some have a lot more scoring than others and while it might be obvious for smaller Nations, also big Nations differ.

In the end 5 big winners here with #1 scoring in France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands and Belgium while Norway was #2 scoring and nobody picked Germanys winner Ackerman, which is also #2 only scoring.

Team wise AbishekLFC scored the most with 426 points ahead of jaxika and bbl312, which both are a bit over 300 points.

Lowest scoring by ember 69 and jseadog 15, which couldn`t even pass the 100 points. Average is 215 points scored.

National Championships ITT
Spoiler

4/5 #1 category winners for the league. Not sure about the fifts, Italy as CQ isn`t listing the ITT. Then Great Britain and Germany with #2 category winners also in the league.

In otal trekbmc scored the most in the ITT NCs with 191 points followed by jandal and Tamijo in the middle 100`s area.

NV with a donot and Marcovdw just tiny bit ahead of him. Average would have been 80 points.

---

Full ranking update likely to come before my holidays tomorrow or Wednesday when CQ publishes their CQ update.
Same as with a provisional TdF startlist.

roturn
Ranking Update hopefully still coming today. Right now CQ site is down and hence no chance to get the data.

Hence the Tour de France startlist.

Tour de France
2018-07-07 - 2018-07-29

Tough to have another race with such amount of undraftables. Only 4 of the top23 riders are in the league and this doesn`t even count Dan Martin, Porte, Zakarin or Gilbert, who are listed later. Then again also you barely get 120 riders starting from the league.

Those 4 riders in the top area are Landa/Bernal (both jseadog1), Roglic (Abishek) and Benoot (Matt).

Though more riders here have great chances for a high GC or score. Adam Yates (jandal), Thomas (hillis), Fuglsang (ivaneurope), Poels (ember), Majka (bbl312), Latour (Ollfardh), Jungels (dominox), Van Garderen (Aquarius), Caruso (Marco), Barguil (Croatia), Kruijswijk (Marco) are all riders that could get close to the top10 or more.

Sprinter wise Gaviria (ivaneurope), Impey (sutty), Degenkolb (Ollfardh), Kittel (alexkr), Cort Nielsen (NV), Laporte (jandal) are likeyl the top bets of the league.

Last but not least I hate my own team for sending exactly zero riders to the Tour. Good that I can`t watch a lot anyway.

jandal7
Big lineup for jandal's jinxes Shock
Amador - Maybe some GC points and stage in the minor region (especially as I assume Movistar will want him in the top 20 for the grid start. Lovely rider who could do well, but not a load of points I guess
Arndt - Guess he is a leadout rider and with no flat ITT won't get loads of points. However hoping for him to repeat his good result last year from the typical last flat stage breakaway win in Pau this time.
Bauer - All in for Yates at MTS, so domestique. Could get some TTT points or a lovely breakaway win to avenge Nimes in 2014 <3
Bodnar - Again (very unlike a jandal team) the lack of a flat ITT means less points
Clarke - Maybe will get some free roles for points scoring or surprise on stage 5 or 6.
De Gendt - top 10 on GC, KoM win and 2 stage wins if he gets what he deserves <3
Erviti - Could do well on the cobbles but will be protecting Quintana and Landa. If Valverde is in yellow after Mur de Bretagne he could go off with him Fuglsang/Nibali style <3
Gorka - Domestique for Nibali. Same category as Amador but not as proven over 3 weeks
Laporte - My pick for stage 1 - Vendee and a hard sprinter's day if it's windy, what's not to love? Then really has some good form this year and could pick up some very nice points <3<3<3
Smith - Hope he builds on his potential shown last year with some nice bunch sprint results and maybe in the hilier stages if he has the legs/free role
Taaramae - Who knows? Could see him with a quiet top 20 with good legs or some breakaway results (or both!)
Yates - third big prong with De Gendt and Laporte. Could do very nicely on GC if he finds some good form Grin

Go boys BananaBananaBanana

15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Quite a bit later than expected but as CQ Ranking was not available in the time of the new update and then I was away on holiday, here a bit late pre TdF update which are the 6th ranking update post June!

Ranking Update #6 - June

3 big events. The Tour de Suisse, the Criterium Dauphine and the Nationals. Those three likely had the biggest points scored while smaller events in Köln, Slovenie, former Route du Sud and the Adriatica Ionica Race alongside others added some more opportunites.

First of all dominox had a good enough month to remain in the lead but while it was a 500+ gap, it`s now down to under 200 points.
May`s 2nd in NicoVirenque though isn`t the one having chased the most, in fact he drops down to 4th as AbishekLFC jumps up from #3 to #2 and Jandal from #4 to #3.

AbishekLFC indeed the manager of the month with 1455 points scored. A lot of those in the Nationals, where he showed great strength in the RR and TT events while also having the winner in Slovenie with Roglic.

Runner-up are hillis with 1186 points scored and Marcovdw with 1067 while the leagues average was 851 points with a minimum of 462 from ember, who was in the top3 of May scoring!

At the bottom Ollfardh had a solid June and climbs 3 spots. New last is matt with sutty and Croatia not far ahead though.

Ollfardh`s talented squad here is looking a lot better with ~70% than the total standings while matt and ivaneuope are still below 40%.

League average is 58%!

Craddock, who is on hype train right now in the Tour de France remains the top rider in the improvement ranking. De Bie following and in fact with a much better total, which some kind of making it his breakthrough season it seems.
While Moser is still on the podium, it`s the next, that impress the most. Hofstetter and Jakobsen with their breakthrough in the neo-season? Will be interesting to see if they can keep it up next years and then Impey with his best season at all!

Also a bit below Formolo, Bilbao, Terpstra, Carapaz, D.Van Poppel, Schachmann with huge performances this year.

Same with Majka, Calmejane, Meintjes, which were expected to do better than their season so far.
