Did Alaphilippe crash or had a technical issue on the descent as well by the way?
He had to chase back into the group in the first shot on the flat, and I doubt he just got dropped. I think he might have made the jump to the two chasers without that spent energy.
Think he may have been held up by Thomas' crash.
Thomas was in ALaphilippe's wheel. Alaphilippe had some rash on the side. Think he crashed together with Thomas but got immediately back up again

even the people that quit daily return to celebrate a 2nd place result in a race that is effectively a sidenote result. is that how people feel whenever a dutchie wins and ruben appears out of nowhere?
yes I'm salty about Van Avermaet winning and salty about Nibali not winning and Majka not winning, what's it to you

I'm trying now to theorise what the reaction would have been had Nibali won the race, because he is gonna race for team, sponsored by a country that doesn't recognise human rights.

If Fuglsang had finished second? Probably the same as it is now. The real complaining wouldn't start until next week, when we realized that Bahrain would "own" a gold medal.

Nibali definitely was the strongest, but also happy for GVA after what happened to him in spring. |

The rider of the day for me is Kwiatkowski. I have now a lot more respect to him than before. Absolutely masterclass what he did out there. |
