Kinda what was to be expected, alltho I would have liked Breschel and Zaugg on the team instead of Tosatto and Paulinho.
Its kinda scary how weak a roster Saxobank-Tinkoff really have, 3 riders with a Giro in their legs, Majka, Roche, Rogers , a spansih waterboy who does absolute nothing and is only there because Contador is a sucker for his friends, Tosatto who can do absolute zero other then bring water on very flat stages.
If Contador wants to win he will have to do it alone this year.

I don't agree entirely, Paulinho and Hernandez are good helpers in the mountians and Tossato and Bennati and Morkov are good on the flat to keep him out of trouble and wind. I still agree it's not a great squad but not too bad either.
David Millar was randomly left out of the tour team by Garmin for who? Jack Bauer? Feel really bad for him. He was one of the their only guys put on the list early and they had told him he had a tour spot.
Pretty stupid considering guys that beat him have done nothing either.

Millar doesn't ride le Tour? Wasn't there actually a film crew meant to follow his every move at le Tour and they even encouraged people to take photos and make movies of Millar. Well... kinda funny

I like this team very much. Too bad Alex Dowsett couldnt make it, but whatever, only one time trial and none TTT. Erviti and Plaza gets the waterboy roles, Rojas for the sprints, Visconti may be good for a win on a transition stage and the rest are able to help Valverde in the mountains which make for a real good allround squad. I dno about Gadret and Intxausti's shape (which are the two guys that are supposed to help him the most, allthough Gadret looked fine in Dauphine while Intxausti abandoned - he should be ok, but surely not 100%). Herrada and Izaguirre are the young guns, i hope for some breakaways in the mountains and the hilly stages from Izaguirre. I have very high hopes for Herrada, definetely interesting he gets the nod!
Cant wait now. The team that i like the most didnt leave any of "my guys" out. Now its up to Valverde to perform.

Bauer has done much more than Millar in the last 11 months. 13th in Bayern-Rundfahrt, stage win in Herald Sun Tour, 2nd in Japan Cup and 5th in Tour of Britain vs literally nothing.
I'm surprised that he was left, but not disappointed. Probably I wouldn't take him as well if it is me to decide.
Procyclingstats says the roster is: Talansky, Acevedo, Bauer, Howes, King, Langeveld, Navardauskas, Slagter, Talansky and Vansummeren. In theory, I think it's the least powerful Garmin's squad in mountain since 2010. But we will see. Maybe Slagter, Howes or King will be able to ride a race of their life. But I'm afraid Talansky may have only Acevedo in the group of 50 or 60 riders in mountain. I'm beginning to think that their Vuelta roster may be better than this.

It will have Hesjedal and Martin, maybe Cardoso, so I would say it already is.
Surprised Danielson was left off. He has been subpar this year and is obviously on the other side of the peak by a long way, but with this squad he would still help Talansky a bit.

It took me a while to realise it, but me too. It looks like clear cut off from the iconic generation of the team. Vande Velde and Zabriskie retired, Millar and Danielson left home and Hesjedal targetting Vuelta. Vansummeren the only guy in Garmin's TdF roster who is in his thirties.
But well. King climbed clearly better than Danielson in Suisse so what makes anyone think it would change for TdF? Looks like a good call to me. Maybe Tom will be able to prepare better form for Vuelta. Shame his last year's form is gone, he finished in the top11 all one-week races which he participated in then. He is one of my favourite riders so I would love to see him doing well.
I really hope Slagter looks better in the Tour de France than in Tour de Suisse, because otherwise things don't look too good for Talansky, though,

Danielson would never go to the Vuelta, because he'll no doubt be at the USA Pro Challenge. that's why it's surprising to me. He won't ride a single GT this year now.

That would make sense to appear at the USA Pro Challenge, but well, he expected to be at the TdF and he is not so he might have his plans changed.
I'm not sure if Garmin did the right thing to give him a long-term deal through 2015. But well, his 2013 form suggested he still had something left in him.
I'm quite disappointed, because after Vaughter's comments from last year, that Garmin was going to change into a GC team, I expected a stronger (quantity in case of Giro and quality in case of TdF) climbing support for GTs and it's not happening. It still looks promising for Vuelta, but one injury, one drop in form, one surprising missing and it may not look that good as well.
But I must say I'm glad at least that Howes and King got their chance. I want them to be solid mountain domestiques, an asset for the team in a year or two. Their TdF presece suggests things are heading into the right direction.
And Lachlan Morton disappeared again. Will he recover again after being nowhere for a while like he was doing in the past? Or is he not progressing quite as some would expect?
