Starting to belive that living over 3000 mts somehow matters
Well obviously. This is perfect for Colombians or any riders living a lot at high altitudes like this.
As said on the previous page there is little long-term advantage to those born at altitude and given that most of the riders here will have done some altitude training recently, there shouldn't be a huge notable difference. Further, it assumes that all Colombians live at altitude, which is simply untrue. Not only that but people like Quintana live at a fairly low altitude in Europe.
Quintana spend two months before Tour in Colombia in 2013. He did the same thing too after Cataluyna too. If not the cold today Colombians would own this massively today.
But how is this different to other professionals doing altitude training?
From all available data there isn't a difference, you can find some stuff out there saying different but it isn't very credible

So while Lefevere comlains about the weather, Movistar pace the peloton. Seems rather clear that Quintana wants to make today's stage, or at least the climbs, difficult for everybody to gain an advantage for Val Martello.
CN Ticker mentioned that Uran seemed rather nervous and shook his head various times at the start and during the early part of the stage. OPQ obviously not happy about this stage. Maybe they are nervous to lose Pink today, who knows.

Maybe Lefevere would prefer it all to be held indoors?

Anyone with any experience on this:
The way things are now, at what time do you expect the riders to finish? I have to go away at 15:45 and I won't be back until 16:50, do you think I'll catch the finale? I sure hope so |

Dangerous part is mostly the downhill, whilst in the flat parts it will be raced conservatively in small groups likely. A fast paced stage like Bari can cause horrific mass crashes though and is way more unpredicatable. Here they know what they have to expect and what they have to deal with and can react accordingly. Climbing in snow isn't the end of the world either, it looks awesome though.

These roads are also used to the wet weather, they are not nearly as slippery. |

he attacked to get the KOM points on top of the Gavia, then litterally stopped on the side of the road to wait for the team car and change his clothes. |

Good to see Niemiec keeping his word and actually doing something after the Monte Cassino crash. |
