Too bad that you lost the top 10 Sad Let's hope for a better next race

THE RACE

One of the first riders to set a really good time is the time trial specialist from Team Optum Tom Zirbel. He covers the 22.8 kilometre course in a time of 31m 59s

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/007-VALLEY%20OF%20THE%20SUN%20STAGE%20RACE/007-1-PIC1ZIRBEL_zps1915d37b.jpg

Lots of riders have tried and come nowhere near his time but the closest at the moment is Andrew Tennant of Rapha Condor who finishes 52s back

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/007-VALLEY%20OF%20THE%20SUN%20STAGE%20RACE/007-1-PIC2TENNANT_zps96c71b51.jpg

Our Dutch rider Martijn Verschoor, one of the few riders within the team who actually suffers with Type 1 diabetes gives it his best shot but will finish the day in a very poor position of 151st at 2m 10s

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/007-VALLEY%20OF%20THE%20SUN%20STAGE%20RACE/007-1-PIC3VERSCHOOR_zps78127ce3.jpg

By now over half the field has finished the course and still nobody has got close to Zirbels time and then Carter Jones who was just two seconds down at the halfway point comes in to the finishing straight, can he be the one, but no, he finishes 38s slower

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/007-VALLEY%20OF%20THE%20SUN%20STAGE%20RACE/007-1-PIC6JONES_zps565bd560.jpg

One of the pre-stage favourites Joseph Dombrowski of Bontrager Livestrong gives it is all but will finish in 9th spot at 40s

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/007-VALLEY%20OF%20THE%20SUN%20STAGE%20RACE/007-1-PIC10CRADDOCK_zpsd29bd8fa.jpg

Whilst time trialling is one of my strong points, i think riding in my first Professional race got the better of me and i finished a very disappointing 146th at over 2m behind

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/007-VALLEY%20OF%20THE%20SUN%20STAGE%20RACE/007-1-PIC13BOWDEN_zpsbda147ce.jpg

Fellow Britain Ed Clancy of Rapha Condor would get to within 25s of the lead time

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/007-VALLEY%20OF%20THE%20SUN%20STAGE%20RACE/007-1-PIC18CLANCY_zps8b3ffe29.jpg

But Bob Jungels of the Leopard Trek Continental Team would go even better and get to within a single second of Zirbels time

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/007-VALLEY%20OF%20THE%20SUN%20STAGE%20RACE/007-1-PIC17JUNGELS_zpsb256bb48.jpg

The last man to finish todays stage is Huub Duyn of Cyclingteam De Rijke who puts in an impressive time to grab 6th place

i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/sutty68/007-VALLEY%20OF%20THE%20SUN%20STAGE%20RACE/007-1-PIC15DUYN_zps14332d54.jpg
