Well, whatever Germany plan in the finale, its good for Britain that they want a Sprint. I guess USA and Australia are the 2 other strong teams (rider number wise) who will also prioritise a sprint. Im sure theyll all look for the Brits to do a lot of work, but if its only Britain doing the work, a sprint would be unlikely
Personally i think that Germany and Britain can fight as hell and still will both end without a medal. For me it is rather Belgium, Australia and Spain with the best chances, even Slovakia has better chance to be on the podium.
But the race itself will certainly prove me wrong

Tissot timing is so awesome, they are updating everyone's position every time they go through the line in real time.

No Martens...he was the best german in the race last year.
And the best hilly rider Rabobank had this year.
Such an underrated and underrewarded rider
I mostly agree, but at the same time this route has a 99% chance of a bunch sprint

About Cancellara's possible decline (was this the topic we were discussing it in? I forget), other people have raised a very good point in a few blogs I've read: It may be mental.
He was talking out of his ass this season and very full of himself. Maybe his head wasn't in the right place?
EDIT: Also, he's clearly had a nose job, so....that's odd

That was to improve his aerodynamics, clearly.

Garner was clearly the strongest in the sprint. But what especially Ratto did in the final kilometres was quite ridiculous, just sitting behind Kröger, and then sprinting for a medal when they got caught by the bunch. But well done Garner.
Looking forward to the U23 now. Lots of possible winners, and it should be an open race. |

Wow, not an endorsement for the traditional cycling nations.

I think it was just as strange from Kroger, not trying to push on.
The U23 should be good.

Spoiler
Wait, he was having a nose job in there ? That stinks.
About him, where's that message of yours, quoting Freg Grappe (or was it Fred Portoleau ?) early this Summer ?

This one?

Fred Grappe makes an interesting point. Besides saying the proof of a cleaner peloton is the reduced performances this year, also he says that unlike the Schlecks and Contador who keep becoming weaker as the peloton gets cleaner, Evans has been at the same level since 2008.
Thing is, Martin got quicker rather than Cancellara getting slower

Not that one.
It was more something along the lines of "Was Cancellara on dope in 2010 ? He most certainly was. Is he riding clean nowadays ? I can't tell, but that wouldn't surprise me."

When she launched her sprint she touched the backwheel of Druyts which broke the gearbox of Druyts so Druyts couldn't accelerate that much. It might have been different if that didn't happen but we'll never know. Just glad we finally got a medal.
Pozzato sucks!

Wrong specialist, sorry.
Still...

Not news but I have nowhere to put this
Antoine Vayer, the guy who usually did the power data estimates for Cyclismag was asked if he thinks Cancellara is clean. He said something like "Now? I don't know. 2008? impossible"
When asked why he named Cancellara setting a hard pace at the front of the peloton on the Croix-de-Fer near the end of the 2008 Tour and also says that his performance in the final climb of the olympic race was "Something that my riders [he was a staff member on the pinnacle of doping, the 1998 Festina team] weren't able to do on EPO and steroids" |

Cancellara is that good. He has an off year and people wonder if he's on something.
Also, he did 51.8km/h in Mendrisio and this year did almost the same ~50.xkm/h and almost stopped once...

They are suggesting he was on something, his numbers were really inhuman.
Also this years TT had almost flat profile, so the fast time is no comparable

He was still inhuman strong at the E3 Prijs, Flanders and Roubaix.
He just wanted too much at Flanders (basically a solo of 60km...idiot!)..and in Roubaix everyone was riding against him and he had no team to keep the breaks into sight. (And still he came very very close in the end) |
