Good result with Docker.
I have a question: What speed of development you use since all your riders have become a lot better?

@all: Thanks!
@tsmoha: Yeah, he didn't even try in the sprint. And a badly timed crash on stage two costed him a lot of time as well.
@baia: Bad shape, that's all.
@Spilak: As Freitas said, 0,5.
Amstel Gold Race is the first and also the youngest of the three major Ardennes Classics. However, what it lacks in age is made up in action. Neither FW or LBL has the same amount of hills as Amstel. Many well-known riders has prevailed on top of the Cauberg hill in Valkenburg. Jan Raas (5 victories), Eddy Merckx, Rolf Järmann and Philippe Gilbert (2) has been the most successful ones. Maybe a third straight for Gilbert today?
Real life result:
1 Philippe Gilbert OmegaPharma - Lotto 6h30'44 2 Joaquim Rodriguez Katusha Team + 2 3 Simon Gerrans Sky ProCycling + 4 4 Jakob Fuglsang Leopard Trek + 5 5 Óscar Freire Rabobank Cycling Team s.t. 6 Björn Leukemans Vacansoleil - DCM + 7 7 Ben Hermans Team Radioshack + 18 8 Robert Gesink Rabobank Cycling Team + 19 9 Paul Martens Rabobank Cycling Team + 26 10 Andy Schleck Leopard Trek + 28
Andy Schleck's attempt to ride solo from the top of the Keutenberg was closed down up the final climb to Cauberg when Rodriguez made an early move. Gilbert was the only one who could follow and later jumped around Purito for a second consecutive win. Rodriguez took second ahead of Gerrans, Fuglsang and Freire.
Skil squad:
After his great results in the recent races, Docker gets the chance to lead us in a big race here. De Kort and Sprick will be lieutenants with the possibility to get promoted if Docker isn't feeling well. Curvers will once again be a joker and might get the chance to try an attack late in the race.

Gilbert is seeking revenge from a disappointing Ronde and with the possibility to take his third straight win here I think he'll be hard to beat, shape or not.
The elder Schleck and especially Evans will be the main challengers together with Samuel Sánchez and recent Basque champ Kreuziger . I'd be surprised if the winner is anyone but one of those.

@tsmoha: Me too. But the result was surprising, in a good way. Good daily form + weak startlist can do a lot to your chances.
@Yves S: No need for exaggerations.
17.04.2011: Amstel Gold Race
Hills, hills and more hills. That's the best way to describe the route. It's basically up and down short climbs all day. That plus the long distance will assure that your legs will hurt in the final part of the race. The two final climbs, Keutenberg and the finishing one to Cauberg will be the decisive ones. A strong attack on Keutenberg can secure the win, but it might be smarter to wait for the final sprint.
A thirteen man group made the day's long breakaway. Yuki Doi in there together with a.o. Max Monfort (Leopard), Sergio Pardilla (Movistar) and the controversial Ezequiel Mosquera (Vacansoleil). They had a maximum lead of eight minutes, but were in control all the time.
With about a hundred kilometres to go we decided to try something, so Curvers attacked and quickly got a gap. Nobody was interested in following him and nobody was interested in chasing him down, so he increased his gap rapidly.
Thirty kilometres later he caught the back of the breakaway group with a little help from team mate Yuki Doi. Still about four minutes back to the peloton, and no teams chasing.
Curvers relaxed at the back of the breakaway group for a little while to regain the energy his solo ride costed him and then went off again up a hill. None of the early escapees had anything to respond with so it's back into timetrial mode.
Many kilometres later our sole leader reached the foot of the penultimate hill, Keutenberg. His former breakaway companions were all brought back and the favourite group were now chasing Curvers a minute behind.
Immediately as the Keutenberg kicked up in gradient, we got the first serious move of the day, as Cadel Evans launched a blistering attack. drawing fellow Aussie Simon Gerrans with him.
Curvers was still leading at the top though, but not by much. Ten km's to go and just a few seconds advantage to Evans and Gerrans, who also got company from Schleck.
Five kilometres later, Curvers was finally gobbled up. About fifteen riders left in the front group, one of them being Mitch Docker. Even though he could barely follow, he was at least in the group, after being on the right side of a split caused when we caught the early escapees.
Docker placed himself on the wheel of Cadel Evans, who lead the group when we entered Valkenburg. One guy who didn't look happy at all was Gilbert, who desperately searched for a way through after sitting in a bad position.
Docker started falling backwards immediately as the sprint kicked off. Evans was still in a good position, but got challenged by a very fast Kreuziger and Gerrans, while Gilbert was still caught behind.
Kreuziger was by far the strongest and just motored away from the others in the end. Gilbert came through waaaay too late and crossed the line in third place, just behind another surprise, Gerrans. Very surprising winner.
Docker then? Well, he might have lost some ground in the final, but thanks to his great position in the beginning of the sprint he managed to hold off Vanendert for an absolutely faboulous 9th place. Amazing.

Thanks for the comments and bananas!
La Flèche Wallonne is the second of the three big Ardennes Classics, and also the easiest one, being 50 kilometres shorter than the other two and way less hilly. However, the hills it has aren't just any hills. The major one is the finishing one, Mur de Huy, with percentages of up to 20%. We often see a big field entering the final kilometer and riders finishing one by one. That says a lot about how hard the Mur is.
Real life result:
1 Philippe Gilbert OmegaPharma - Lotto 4h54'57 2 Joaquim Rodriguez Katusha Team + 3 3 Samuel Sánchez Euskaltel - Euskadi + 5 4 Alexandre Vinokourov Pro Team Astana + 6 5 Igor Anton Euskaltel - Euskadi s.t. 6 Jelle Vanendert OmegaPharma - Lotto s.t. 7 Fränk Schleck Leopard Trek s.t. 8 Daniel Moreno Katusha Team + 9 9 Christophe Le Mevel Team Garmin - Cervélo + 12 10 Paul Martens Rabobank Cycling Team s.t.
The dominant Gilbert continued his Ardennes streak by crushing the others up the Mur, claiming an easy victory. Rodriguez once again finished as runner-up, while his fellow countryman Sánchez took third.
Skil squad:
Basically the same squad as in Amstel, but with Fröhlinger replacing Chaigneau . Docker will again be the leader, and hopefully Sprick will have a bit better daily form than last time to be able to chase a good result as well.

Seems like most favourites decided to focus on this rather than Amstel. The startlist here is way harder than the one in Amstel and all the favourites who were there are also here in FW.
Kreuziger surprised everyone on the Cauberg, but I still think that Gilbert 's bad position costed him the win there. Today we'll see whether Phil does have the legs to win a big classic.
Lurking behind the two main favourites we have Evans and Schleck fresh off Amstel and now also Purito Rodriguez and Cunego .

Great top 10 in AGR. I really hope to do similar or better in PCM11. In PCM10 I always had big problems with stronger riders than Docker to reach the top10.

Thanks roturn and vangerner. It was mostly luck that scored us this great result, as the catch of the early escapees caused a split in the peloton which distanced a lot of riders who I think would have beaten Docker if they would have been in the first group.
20.04.2011: La Flèche Wallonne
The "short" route between Charleroi and Huy doesn't include even close to as many hills as the Amstel route does, but it does include the Mur de Huy, which is climbed three times. As I said in the preview, we'll most likely see a big peloton entering the final kilometer together and finishing in pieces. The Mur is brutal.
Yuki Doi in the break again today, together with Lithuanian champion Navardauskas (Garmin), Pinotti (HTC), Pauriol (FDJ) and Richie Porte (Saxo).
An from Mick Rogers (Sky) about halfway into the race saw him and Dries Devenyns (Quickstep) catching up with the breakies and forming a seven man leading group.
Even later in the race, Curvers jumped with another late move instigated by Simone Ponzi (Liquigas), who also got company from Van Avermaet (BMC), Moreno (Katusha) and Marcato (Vacansoleil). Seeing the strength of the names in the group it was a bit surprising that they were allowed to go.
The new escapees soon reached the early breakaway and quickly got rid of most of the group. Neither Doi or Curvers were able to follow the amazing speed of this group.
The leading group had built up quite a nice advantage and some teams started to get worried. Leopard and OmegaPharma now sent up a few riders to close down the gap.
But was it already too late? With ten kilometres to go Devenyns dropped the others in the leading group up the penultimate climb and went off solo. Still an incredible gap of three minutes to the peloton!
Many favourites saw the win starting to slip out of their hands, which caused a large amount of attacks up the last climb before the Mur. Gilbert, Rodriguez, Schleck, Evans, Gerrans and Sprick all tried to break free.
But it was way too late, and Dries Devenyns managed to just hold off Ponzi and Van Avermaet to take the biggest win in his career. An even more surprising winner here than in Amstel, but nice for Quickstep.
In the sprint for minor places it was once again Kreuziger who were the fastest ahead of Evans, Gilbert, Rodriguez and Schleck. What's up with the young Czech at the moment?
Docker couldn't repeat his great result from Amstel here as the Mur proved to be too hard for him in the end. A 22nd place isn't exactly what we hoped for, but with a stronger startlist it's not strange that the results get worse.

Thanks baia. I also think the result was pretty okay.
The Gran Premio Llodio is a small Spanish one-day race held in mid-April. It's a quite hard race which usually attracts some well-known names looking to top their form for Liège-Bastogne-Liège, which is held the day after this race. Spanish domination here is usual, so maybe the same this year?
Skil squad:
Almost exactly the same squad as we used in Flèche Wallonne, but this time we've given Curvers a little rest, while Chaigneau has taken his place. The ones we are looking to score us a good result are Sprick and Docker , who both should be able to profit from their great form.

Nieve is by far both the best climber and puncher in the race. That plus home soil does make him very dangerous, and I can't see anyone beating him.
23.04.2011: Gran Premio Llodio
The day's major climb comes in the first half of the race and therefore probably won't be decisive at all. The crucial part will instead be the double climb late in the race and maybe also the small hills on the way down to Llodio. I'd say it's likely that we see a small group battling it out for the win.
We jump directly to the action, as an insane pace set by De Kort absolutely destroyed the peloton up the second of the two late climbs. Sprick and Docker are also in the group, but the latter one is struggling quite a lot. We also have a mid-race breakaway in front, but their advantage is decreasing rapidly.
With 5 km's to go we finally reel in the last of the escapees, Rob Partridge (Endura). The pace immediately drops a lot, so Sprick puts his cards on the table and attacks!
The others had nothing to respond with and Sprick could cruise into Llodio to celebrate a magnificent solo win. Nieve, Fothen and Moreno overtook Partridge right at the line after he tried another small attack. Docker didn't have his best day and was dropped up a climb together with De Kort. They led home the next group, a minute and a half behind their team mate.
