Strydz getting hit by a truck was probably my lamest excuse ever
but I never use a excuse not to ride as I just ride whenever I feel like it. no planning at all

Hard to think of a true lame excuse not to ride, i'm with SSJ2Luigi and I ride when I feel like it which just happens to be every day
Oh and just a little heads up on a ride I have coming up in 11 days, it will contain 10,000 vertical.... i'm pretty excited

You guys suck for not sharing my existenzial problems of To Ride Today Or Not To Ride Today.
You go man, good luck at taking on 10k. No further comment necessary, really.

What problem? The answer is always to ride, although that might be due to it being my only form of transport anywhere I want or need to go

I didn't do Buller this year as that day I was helping out a mate on her Everesting ride, I'll be doing the Baw Baw ride with the crew later in Feb

...This made me wonder: What's your guys lamest excuse to not go for a ride?
See I have the opposite problem - my (regularly unfit) body is screaming at me to use some common sense and take a break and I'll find some pathetic excuse to not listen:
- I just need another 10k/100m/half an hour for a meaningless virtual badge.
- Riding will help the blood flow to the injury and speed up my recovery etc. etc.
Always have to remind myself I know the right thing to do, take a break, listen and don't do some more damage when sick, tired or injured.
In a way isn't that what you're doing with the running - I can't ride because of the sunglasses...but I'll run more?

I was at Bulla, did Lake Mountain on my own the week after the group went out though and I might do Baw Baw, it depends when I've got a race on.

Nice work mate, let us know if you end up going to Baw Baw and i'll say hello.
Lake Mountain is a cracking climb, that first 4 k's really makes you work for it

Wow, reading about everesting attempts with 5-10 negative and snow/ice at home feels even more insane than normally! More focus on alternative training in the cold north now, cross-country skiing, running and work-outs. But good luck to you, Strydz; and everyone else able to get on the road should enjoy some rides as well. Lucky bastards. |

So, fed up with the barely cycling going on since I moved here, I bought a super crappy hometrainer cheap yesterday. My weapon against the snow. Love it. It fits so perfect in my flat.
@Nils Erik: Have you ever considered a fat bike? I follow this norwegian chick on instagram ( https://instagram.... ) an and she rides around with it in winter. Takes some lovely landscape photos with it too. Seems to be quite a joy thing to do.

Glad you've found a workaround. Is it a nice loud one to please all the neighbours?
The fat bike rides that Gesink sticks on Strava do look wonderful fun - riding through sand dunes and snow certainly has an appeal even if I'd probably end up on the floor half the time at least it would be a soft landing. |

Nah mate, it's even works on batteries wtf. But the only thing I need to hear is my breath, and at least it shows me some basic data, so it's alright.
Yeah I imagine fat bikes to be quite tricky at times but on youtube they look rather easy to handle too - and fun of course. I once saw a blog where guys went through canyons and over very, very rocky terrain with those bikes. Must be something really special.

Indeed. Can't complain as without Dan Lloyd I'd not have noticed. Unfortunately, the Belkin bastards cancelled my order
Fortunately, I found their ebay store, where they still seemed to have some available.
And in other news, I tested out my new Garmin Edge 810 for the first time today. Now downloading some open street maps on it for it for free - rather than pay extra for SD card maps.

Enjoy playing with the new Garmin. Indeed paying for the maps is unnecessary the free ones are great. |

Currently sitting in the airport waiting to board my flight. On my way to Nelspruit for SA Road champs. I'm super excited and I'm in tip-top shape, so I'll be going for the win in both the TT and road race. That being said, to get a podium in either requires and extraordinary effort and suffering. Time trial is on Thursday and road race is Saturday. I'll be sure to let you guys know how I do, if you don't see it on Procyclingstats
