First bike ride of the year, put it on Strava, and I get a few '2015 KoM's and lots of other Top 5s for the year
Wasn't riding particularly fast, so clearly one of the first to ride them on Strava this year! New feature as far as I'm aware, and I guess will be quite good later in the year - but a bit funny at the moment to get loads of trophies for an average ride.
Yes, just spotted a blog post up about it.
Good move I reckon, gives some lesser targets to go for when you know you have no chance against records set from thousands of rides going back as far as 2012 or even as you age and know you can't compare to PR's you set 3 years ago.
Also a little extra motivation to get out in January
Edit - They seem to have introduced training plans on premium too which might be interesting. Will see what they send through to my email on that score (not that I've got that much time to strictly stick to it anyway).

Its been a while since l posted here. Hope everyone had a nice festive year.
Rode of the Sydney Harbour Bridge last week. Was quite brillant. What wasn't brillant was snapping one of my gear cables. Lucky l was about 10 seconds away from finishing my ride when it happened. Took the bike in for a full look over. I aint great with the whole mechanical side of the bike, so getting every part of the bike looked at was probably a smart move. Hopefully should get my bike back in a day or two. |

So thanks to a dodgy car driver the attempt to knock off the Festive 500 in one ride and also take the longest Everest fell short, car buzzed me to close and caused me to wobble and my forks hit a very large rock and cracked the left side. Not very happy about it as I was flying along at 320 ks and 6600 vertical

Just thought I should let you guys know that I changed my Strava name to Ricky Bobby. I noticed a few of my opponents starting following me so I went into incognito mode.
Anyway, SA Road Champs is in a month's time. I'll make a nice write up before-hand, but to let you guys know I believe I can win (the junior category) in both the TT and road race. I know a podium is within my capabilities, but I'm going for the win.

Well good luck then Aidan. You still plan on riding the Junior WC this year?

After I moved into another town, I checked for some strava routes. As there are maximum a handful around, I must live in the middle of nowhere. Far, far worse than where I used to live before. And still pan flat everywhere...
As this one is just for 3-4 months, I am already looking forward as the next area has lots of hills and better cycling paths.
Will try to give my bike more chances this year but will have to wait for better weather I guess as there are storm warnings the next few days. |

Looking at the records around my area and one is held by New Zealand Cyclist James Oram who I believe rides for Bissell, not a bad target haha.

Always nice when things are working smoothly. Talking of which I currently have a serious rattling, almost like buzzing, coming from my brake hoods. I'm hoping a well placed blast of light lubricant will quieten things down but if anyone has experience of sorting this particular annoyance then please let me know. Shimano Claris groupset if that helps.
I vaguely remember it being a problem when I first got the bike but can't remember whether it resolved itself or if I did something to sort it :/

So, since the weather is fine lately, I've come to quite bitter solution: I'm postponing the opening ride of 2015 on the bike, instead I keep running although legs are hurting quite a bit lately and riding would be the better option by far.
Anyway, my lame excuse for not going out for a ride is, that I forgot my sunglasses, both of them, at my parent's place and they havn't arrived yet. Of course I could buy new ones, but what am I going to do with them once the old ones arrive in my post? You know, buy sunglasses for a day. Might as well burn 30 Euros.
This made me wonder: What's your guys lamest excuse to not go for a ride?
And no, Strydz getting hit by a truck or just having done an Everesting ride the day before is not an excuse at all.
