Gratz Strydz! Only 8845 more Everest's to have as many as the metres climbed each time?
Also quick comparison of your suffer score for each of the 3 efforts - which ranked the hardest of the hard the most epic of the epic?
Also also do you have a set time for each ascent or heart rate you aim at or just take it as it comes?

for the first time since july had a long ride for once and boy does it hurt including the thoughest climb I've ever done (beating the Cauberg ) while the climb on paper isn't too tough (400 meters, 39 meters of elevation, 16% max, 7~9% average) the main problem I had were the roads itself. instead of usual paved roads it used stone roads (no real cobbles though) and I just can't ride one those. I'm still wondering why I wanted to do it twice

Been quite a while since I have been out, but since I got my heel injury I haven't been able to run, so I decided to take my bike out instead, since I don't have any problem riding.
Tried to do (40 seconds of effort, 20 seconds of rest, repeat 10 times, 5 minutes recovery) x 4
It didn't seem to work very well since I didn't feel it became really hard, even though I tried to push during the intervals. Afterwards when I look at my numbers, my heartrate is around 165 that's not really enough to really gain something. I did my favourite climb, also the longest around my home. It's 2.3 km with 3-4 % of gradient. I pushed all I could, but my max heartrate only just topped 180.....
If I do running intervals I usually hit 190 - 193. Meh my body just isn't made for cycling. I know I should train some more endurance since that's what I'm really lacking, but I don't really ever feel progression and I like hockey way more.
1 hour 54 minutes, really flat with an average speed of 24 km/t Holy shit this was bad :s When it's this bad, there is on the other hand a lot to build on
Present:
Tinkoff-Saxo - AG2R - Colombian riders
Past:
Francisco Mancebo - Illes balears - Carlos Sastre - Kelme - Robbie McEwen

Found this quite an interesting read on the subject https://www.slowtwitch.com/mainheading...grate.html
Summary extract: "What I hope to impart is that it isn't set in stone that your heart rates must be 10 or 15 beats lower while on the bike versus running. If you can't get your heart rate up while cycling it's simply because you're a better runner than a cyclist. The idea is not to attempt to raise your heart rate for the heck of it, but to raise the level of your cycling ability so that your well-trained cardiovascular system can get off he bench and into the game."
And from a lesser source "Theory is that the leg muscles of a runner-turned-cyclist are comparatively weak, and it’s then ultimately muscle power that limits cycling performance, not aerobic capacity."
But I also seem to remember other arguments that the bike bearing your weight will also decrease the effort your heart has to make...
In your case seems like the most plausible reason is the limiting factor is in your leg muscles rather than your heart but don't take my word for that - I'm certainly no expert, just merely interested and have read a little bit of related stuff before.
Oh and even read elsewhere that upping your cadence can even help some in this instance?! It worked for Lance...right?

Hi, i have a question about cycling, so i will ask it here.
A few days ago i crashed with my bike(was my fault) and it seems to be broken. So for now i want to buy a new one. I want to spend around 600-1200€. I know it's not very much, but with my actual student "income" i have to step down a bit .
So i hope that someone knows a good bike in this category.
It should be a road bike.(i think thats obvious, but i better post that too.)
Thanks

I'm loving my entry level Allez which would come in at the bottom of that price range (especially with us currently being in the 2014 sale period).
https://www.specialized.com/gb/gb/bike...llez/allez
Bear in mind it's entry level which means aluminium throughout and a weight of approx 9kg.
For the price I'm very happy with it - like the black and red paint job, the Claris groupset and even, surprisingly, the puncture resistant tyres that have seen me cover 5000km puncture free so far.
It just needs a set of SPD pedals added is all. |

Here in the UK it's currently going for £500 in the end of season sales so about €640.
Also online shops here are selling for that and seem to ship to Germany for €35 or even free I think if over £500 in the case of the 2nd link?:

Looks quite interesting. I was searching for a BMC(because my old one was a BMC), but i think there is no BMC bike in that price range...

that just got me wondering, what bikes do you guys ride? or in case you don't have one anymore, what was your old one? or if you're like me and never owned a road bike, which one would you like?

@Luigi: My old one was a BMC GranFondo GF01. And my new one will probably be that Specialized above...if there isn't anything better in that price range...

I've been ridden on an Argon 18 Gallium for the last teo seasons and am really happy with that, but the price is definitely something else than you want. Maybe the best Merida model next season, I would like to but don't like that it only comes with Sram... Concorde tt bike as well.
@Paul: How bad is your bike looking? Every unbroken part should be kept, if you don't have any great deals up in hand already. Also, keep in mind that most frame producers have a price deal for a new bike if you broken yours, and if you are happy about it, you should go to the shop selling it or just ask BMC on the internet, who will probably give you this special offer for staying on their bikes. I've done it twice with Argon 18, once on the web and once straight to the bike shop. Got a new frame for about 40% of the original price, even if I crashed it myself. |

Both wheels were simply done, the frame was broken...my saddle was missing, and we have gone to the local bike store and the guy in the store looked at it and said, that he couldn't give us money for this "rubbish", so we gave the bike a friend of my dad, because he trades with broken parts of everything that has wheels...
He said it is worth around 50€ and that he will inform us if it is sold and will give us the money for which he sold it...
He sold it for 94€.
