Groves with a nice little win for us today btw. Eases the pain of the Laporte selection that wasn't a selection a bit Grin Very excited for tomorrow, good luck everyone!

Stupid Bahrain idiot, that's at least 5 of my riders crashed, 2 out.

And yeah, hoping Higuita won't win GP Indurain today after his last-minute decision to start there :S

At least he didn't win, but when he finally gets a really good result (2nd), of course he's not in my lineup... Can't really blame myself for that, though, as he still wasn't on the startlist at the deadline for the block. I definitely did suppose that one (or more) of my riders doing Basque Country would take GP Indurain as a warm-up, but I'd have needed a very lucky guess to pick the right one ^^

Today there were no hopes given the startlist, but a zero-pointer in a monument definitely is the worst-case scenario. But it just confirms my bad draft strategy, so what...

Not a great race for me either. That idiot took out Sheffield, Sagan, Stuyven, Ballerini and Wellens. While some of them were clearly affected, the biggest damage is that Wellens will be out for the rest of the game. Too bad becuase he was really a new rider after joining UAE. Getting some assist points out of him today at least.

So I was down to Pidcock and Vermeersch (although Sheffield came really close to the front at some point). Pidcock was good but not good enough to follow and Laporte didn't feel like chasing I guess. Vermeersch had a great ride but I think Roubaix suit him more. So just 12th for me and only Thijssen riding on wednesday.

I'm also among those for whom De Ronde was less than ideal. 14th and 19th is all I got. Three more riders in the Top 27 just missing out on points is a shame, as is Mohoric crashing out, of course. Hopefully, this doesn't affect him for the rest of the classics season. My hopes for Roubaix aren't super high and Zingle at Paris-Camembert is the only one I got for the two CT races (though he could do well), so this might not be the greatest block for me.

kandesbunzler26
De Ronde should be a quite good result: 6th, 8th, 11th and 17th. Plus two team mates from van der Poel. Though there was hope for more as Küng, Wright and van Hooydonck were in the break before the big three went ahead. PR will hopefully end similar, if not better. Apart from that only Lampaert starts in Scheldeprijs and probably no one in PC.

Block 6 results

We can't get around it, Laporte was a big miss and hurt the 59'ers, as well as him missing out on the first place of the rider rankings. Few changes in the rankings because of this. Back in France, Mozzato scored well for the Red Lanterns, in what was otherwise a low scoring race.

On to the double classics on saturday. In Spain an undrafted Izagirre won ahead of an unselected Higuita. So Skjelmose at 3 was the best scoring rider, but the 59'ers the best scoring team.

In the Netherlands the complete top 5 was predicted, not bad for such a small race! Kaden Groves relieved some of the pain of his manager, with also the Hussars and Nosepickers scoring well.

For the rankings it means the 59th see their lead shrink instead of grow. The Hussars are the second team above 1000 points. The Red Lanterns had the best round here and are closing in on them, a big Ronde Van Vlaanderen could mean great things for them! (this is called foreshadowing)

The Cobblers didn't have the best round and drop to 4th. Behind them, neither the Paladins, the Hornets or the Fainthearts made use of that, so they stay in the same position. The W used their great Dwars Door Vlaanderen to close the gap.

After that, there's a really big gap to the Nosepickers who are struggling with only Eenkhoorn scoring this round. The Minions once again only score minor points and see the Bombers closing in on them. Finaly at the bottom the Tulips come a few points closer to the Wolves.

Ronde Van Vlaanderen looked to be highest scoring race ever, with only nr. 15 Mikkel Bjerg not drafted, unfortunately the Bombers missed the deadline and miss out on 180 points between Asgreen and Trentin Sad

In the rankings the Hussars take the lead, but the Red Lanterns are right on their tail. The Hussars have a surprise guest at Scheldeprijs though, who knowns what he'll do there. The Cobblers go up to 3rd, knocking the 59'ers off the podium. Then there's a significant gap to the Hornets, Paladins and W. The Bombers win one spot, but it could have been 2.

You had Powless, as I copy the previous list in case you miss a deadline. Powless was good enoguh to overtake the Grandmas, if you have the other two you would've overtaken the Nosepickers as well.

Great to win that last block, even if it didn't award many points. It's great to see that I'm doing well despite some of my management decisions having been rather questionable.
I will probably loose some ground in Roubaix even if van Baarle will be fit.

Fabianski
Ewan has become such a slouch... Fortunately, Welsford once again delivered in Scheldeprijs - and Walscheid in 7th makes it 3 in the Top 10 and a very good race for us.
Still waiting for the first win, though. Maybe Ganna wins P-R then

Also glad I picked Thijssen over a monument rider, 5th is great for him.

So Scheldeprijs didn't have much of an impact, as the winner was not slected by the Wolves. Their luck finally ran out so they get overtaken by the Tulips and drop to last place. At the top, the Hussars increase their lead and the Paladins jump over the Hornets once again. The Fainthearts scored very well here and close the gap to the W.

Cycling up that hill

12/04/2023 Brabantse Pijl CT+
14/04/2023 Classic Grand Besançon CT2
15/04/2023 Tour du Jura CT2
16/04/2023 Amstel Gold Race WT1

As we leave the cobbles behind, we finish up with 2 blocks of hilly races. Some of you have stronger teams than others for this, as there are still quite some points to be earned. We start off with Brabantse Pijl, Amstel Gold Race and two smaller French classics.

The startlists are good for the big races, not so good for the smaller ones. Deadline coming up very soon already, tomorrow wednesday at 10:00 am CET.

Got really unlucky with Dege/Laporte/Mohoric in PR. Although pre-race I would've said 7th for Dege is very lucky, so I guess I shouldn't be too upset Grin 18th by Van Gestel adds a handul points, too, which is nice.

Only 5 confirmed starters for the next block so I have to hope some of my French guys go to Besancon/Jura, or maybe Laporte is a late addition for Jumbo at AGR? Either way, Mohoric, Teuns, Costa and Zingle hopefully give me good scoring potential.

Sagan was such a failure this season, not a single point from him. I knew it was a long shot, but still, you would think the man has some pride to get a result in his last season. Stuyven also not getting what I expected from him, so I really need my Ardennes squad to save the game for me.

Eenkhoorn in Limburg, Jorgenson in RVV and Vermeersch in Roubaix with his two teammates on the podium give us some decent points. Nothing spectacular, but should keep us away from the red lantern I hope.
