Giro D’Italia 2021

Heroes win stages, teams win GC. One more proof the cycling is a team sport, but there's always an opportunity to acts of bravery as we've could see it today.

Let's save the history of PCM together!

Just write me a PM if you have something for old PCM Editions (from 2005 to 2014) - databases, stages, shirts etc. and we'll share it.

Bernal making out with his gf on live TV makes him a lot more sympathetic lmao
"He made a bigger comeback than Easter Sunday."

I remember in 1990-th there were 22-23 stages in Grand Tours, so another one and Damiano could win Smile Well, congrats to Egan, and 4-th place for Aleksandr - it is also worthy.

0.053 seconds separating Almeida from Martinez, this was the cherry on top of the cake for all the Portuguese hysteria of this Giro. Pfft

Nonetheless, regardless of having to help Remco in certain stages, this was a great comeback from the kid, and even I doubted Almeida would be able to perform like he did, especially on the third week. Physcially and mentally strong - I hope he chooses the right team for 2022 - because he can finally be Portugal's GT contender for the future.

Hats off to Castroviejo and Martinez. They were absolutely impressive. I don't like Sky/Ineos tactics but at least this time Bernal set things up with his aggresive wins in stages 9 and 16 and going into attack on Zoncolan. So, hats off to him as well. It's a very well deserved win.
Also hats off to Caruso for his great tour & Taco Van der Hoorn for his stage win. And for Lorenzo Fortunato, stage win and 16th overall is quite something.

Seconded. though the ammount of hysteria in social media is

Overall, I enjoyed this Giro. Some nice surprises and attacking riding from Bernal, which did not turn the race into a snorefest and INEOS train. There's a lot to discuss after this - especially regarding the handling of the stage design and weather - so we hope that the organization has taken some notes over it.

Less than 1-week after winning the Giro, Bernal has tested positive for Covid.

Given the incubation period of the virus is upto 14 days this does raise an awkward, but never provable, question for RCS/UCI aver possible others exposed and how effective their own testing was.
On the upside for Ineos, the race was won anyway, and none of the Giro team, afaik, were scheduled for Le Tour. Plus there's enough time to isolate and clear negative tests ahead of the race.

But a reminder to cycling this is still an active pandemic! Keep a close eye on testing, as we could well see knock on impacts heading into the big GT.

For Bernal's sake, I hope he's alright. I can imagine Covid might be worse on a young athlete while they're trying to recover from such a grueling 3 weeks.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

Ngl Manx, you had me in the first half there.

Agreed BBL, hopefully he'll be alright.

It definitely raises some questions, also bacause of Bernal's lesser performance in the last few days. I don't think it's an Ineos thing though, any team would do a little test fraud at that point.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
