Why did he go so hardcore? Aru went super slow in the prologue and look at him now
Maillot Jaune stage 5 or even 3. Unzué said his time was top-5 material in the first check.I think he knew his chances were better than ever and he wanted it too much.
Man fuck rain. I'm not even a Valv fan but I would love to see him kick some kenyan ass.
Indeed. But in the end, his own fault, it had been worse of some random rider took him out or something. |

I feel more depressed by the day looking at how the race unfolds with my man out... Knew from day 1 Quintana wasn't up for it and it was Valverde's last shot, he knew it himself, Unzué knew it, but they all downplayed it because of Quintana.
Nairo really is a confusing guy to figure out. Dominates the races he should that aren't GTs, but has never really looked strong in one outside of the last week of the '14 Giro and the second half of the '16 Vuelta. Maybe I can give him credit for the last week of the Tour when he gain minimal time on Froome. Still, for his apprently prodigious climbing skills, he's never really lived up to the expectations set before him.
And this will almost certainly go down as a year of what ifs for him. The capitulation in the Giro, this year's Tour...instead of this being the year he took over the mantle of "Best GT Rider" he's really fallen back to the pack. |

The guy with two top 10s in GTs at the age of 32?
Probably a top 5.

I don't believe Richie would have won after what I saw from him in the race so far, but he would surely have had a shot against this Froome. Heck, the late Joaquim Rodriguez would have smoked these followers today. |

Valverde would not have won this Tour, for the same reason he has never won the Tour and barely wins any GT's at all even.
But for some reason you are adding it up all in your head to make it fit and make it wish this was the year. I know he's the best rider on the planet for the last 10 years. I know it sucks he fell. But I also know Valverde has his limits, and these would have surfaced once again in this years Tour de France, regardless of how Froome and Quintana are doing. He would not have won the Tour. Stop. |

Pff if Sagan hadn't been DQ he would've won the Tour.

Tell me where Valverde would have been dropped. Sure, Aru would have won on La Planche, but 7 men crested Chat and 10 on Peyresourde. Froome doesn't have an extra gear. I seriously doubt he would have been dropped on those climbs, but ok, I know we will never agree with each other. But its stupid to suggest he wouldn't have a shot - when Aru and Bardet have, when Urán is within 1 minute....
Lets leave it there... |

The only thing he had to overcome, giving how it has turned out so far, is the Alps. But I will never know and thats the thing that sucks the most. Together with the fact that he can't even race the superbly designed Vuelta. |

I hope TJVG form of his life will join Lance on his daily podcast at some point in time. They should be good pals. Then he can say he is targeting the Vuelta and allegedly is in the form of his life and we can have a good laugh. |

If Bardet is not docked 20 secs before le depart tomorrow LottoNL and Cannondale should put all their riders in front of the red car tomorrow so the race can't start.

It's actually quite funny. I hate seeing him do well at least as much as seeing Froome in yellow, and literally the only reason for that is that Alak loves him.

Valverde is basically a better version of Dan Martin so he would have been very close to yellow at this point no doubt. Perfect racing for him no doubt.

Dan Martin - Coca cola light

I like Bardet so I'd rather everyone gets nothing (and that's what's deserved) but this is a shambles The fact that the UCI can apparently say when Uran did it it's not OK to take it from anyone though it obviously is and then when asked about Bardet it's OK because it wasn't a team member, ignoring the fact that Bennett and in the end actually Uran as well took it from spectators not team staff is plain wrong and bias (I know you can't expect much but this sucks )
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Benoot is the best U23 flandrien and the 2nd best U23 climber in the world.
Reminds me of Spilak in 2008.

No one should be docked anything. So what if they recieved water on the site of the road. I get the rule for team cars, but grabbing a bottle while riding past, come on. |
