Dumb jandal, forgetting all about TTT
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Giro del Trentino

Welcome to the first stage of the Giro del Trentino, which starts in Arco and goes to Riva del Garda for a team time trial with 13,4 km in it.

The first team that starts are Neri Sottoli, who probably have looked at the profile wrong because they put hope in their sprinter: Chicchi. The riders likely to finish the highest in the GC will probably be Failli. They set the bar at 18’00”.

Second off is Champion System, where Grawunder and Pinotti are the biggest engine for the train today in support of Kim Po-Ding. They have no trouble beating Neri Sottoli with a time of 17’16”.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0272_zpsnggevoou.jpg

Cofidis puts hope in Pellizotti to perform in his home country, however it’s seems unlikely that the Itailian will crack the top 10 in this race seeing the competition. With a time of 17’46” (2nd) they have a average start.

CCC Polsat uses two riders from the UCI talent development in Nokkvason (who’ll be the team’s leader in the mountains) and Di Silverstro (who’ll lead the team in the TTT). With decent support Nokkvason has a chance to crack the top 10. They start with 17’53”, good for 3rd place

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0273_zpsgk1whxct.jpg

Next up is probably the team of the overall winner, Movistar. With Nairo Quintana at the start of the race. Overall victory seems just a matter of time. With a time of 17’36” (2nd), they lose some seconds to Kim Po-Ding

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0274_zpsmztyv0m0.jpg

Team Sagan without Sagan also known as regular Cannondale is hoping that Caruso can lend some of Sagan’s strength to finish in the top 10. If Caruso doesn’t succeed however, Team Sagan will still be Team Sagan. Cannondale finishes with a time of 17’50” (4th).

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0275_zpsdyydj8lw.jpg

Katusha isn’t having to greatest of the season so far with slightly disappointing results. They hope that Spilak will finishing in the top 10 and realistically perhaps even a top 3. They stop the clock at 17’43” (3rd).

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0276_zpsv2mk91l2.jpg

MTN will probably have trouble finish in the top 10 with Kudus, Berhane and Pardilla in the team’s line-up. If there is a possibility for a breakaway GC win, MTN is a favorite for it. They set a 17’56” (7th).

NetApp can be considered being the development team, seeing how much König has developed and now is preforming at BMC. Dominik Nerz has the potential to be the next one. He has to prove himself though and in this race he can already make a name for himself. They set 17’50” (6th)

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0277_zpsxi7ehcbx.jpg

With Colombia’s persense here would seems understandable but they riders they have send are just weird. Sprinters Barbero and Romero being here is just weird. Pires probably will finish the highest in the GC. 18’06” (10th) is their finish time.

Caja Rural has Alarcon in the team and they are hoping that they can have him finish in the top 10. He has decent support although the appearance of the two Haedo are probably not the best use of their race days. 18’12” (11th) is their time.

Sojasun is in the same boat as MTN, hoping for a breakaway upset with Hivert, Feillu and Pauriol. They need to play catch up as they set a time of 17’48” (5th)

Vacansoleil is hoping on a miracle of Visconti to finish in the top 10. Tankink and Hoogerland as his best support means he’ll need to do a lot on his own. Their time is 17’46” (5th)

Giant has transformed from sprint team to GC team and with Hesjedal, Poels, Jungels and Peterson it already shows. With Hesjedal in their leagues they have a contender for top 3. They start with 17’23” (2nd) gaining some seconds on Quintana already

Lampre is hoping on a revival of Scarponi and Ulissi to show how good he really is. If that happens a double top 10 might be possible. They start good with a time of 17’38” (4th)

Euskaltel needs a good result from this race as they don’t have the greatest of seasons yet. Their leaders are De las Campos and probably has the best support of the whole race. this support though does give some time on the other favorites in the TTT though with 17’44” (6th)

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0278_zpsfo7t8u73.jpg

IAM will be looking towards La Bestia for a top 10 and Reichenbach will probably works as support. With a time of 17’54” (13th) they already lose a good chunk of time.

The rider where the public is looking toward the most is Italian national champion Cataldo. However Owniak probably will be the team leader this race. with 17’46” (8th) they lose some time but nothing to serious

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0271_zpsccqxxmlu.jpg

Team Champion System spend most of the day on the hotseat and no teams were able to beat their time set early on. Pinotti will take the first leaders jersey although the manager will probably not be too happy that Kim wasn’t at the first five finishers, meaning he lost 2 seconds on the rest of his team.

Happens in MG as well, very annoying bug that the best time trialers never can keep up with the rest. Kim at 4 seconds, Grawunder at 7, I hope that's fixed in PCM15 cause it's just rudiculous.

Thanks for the report, good to see this going again Smile
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

brewers90
Oh dear, looks like poor old Kim's going to be obliterated by anti-aircraft missile after that performance. His leader will not allow this.

About where I expected us to be. No real loss. Time to attack now please.

Not a bad start for us, had expected worse. Hopefully Caruso will attack and not be rubbish like Basso.

I'll take that result for Cofidis.
Come on Franco Pellizotti lets surprise everyone and crack that top 10.

Kinda happy about the result and nothing to great was lost, however perhaps some few places higher for Owniak would've been good, everything is as predicted so far Grin

CCC also with a good TTT, considering we don't focus on this and secondly that the field is quite strong here Smile

Sad about the equipment not working for this race, but thanks for the report anyway Grin

I'll take 6th place on a TTT anyday.

By the way I don't think our season so far has been that bad. In fact it's been better than last year looking at points and rankings position Wink

Giro del Trentino – Stage 2
Limone sul Garda – San Giacomo di Brentonic

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0268_zpsbhogardo.png

After yesterday’s victory Champion System will need to keep track of the peloton and will hope that Kim Po-Ding is able to beat opponent Nairo Quintana, Damiano Caruso and Ryder Hesjedal. Although a breakaway win seem unlikely but if they have a solid gap at the foot of the final climb, things might go difference from what people expect.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0279_zpskldbst3w.jpg

We have a first try, first succeed breakaway and it’s a big one. 8 riders in total and they are Hoogerland (VCD), Gusev (COF), Berhane (MTN), De Marchi (CAN), Feillu (SOJ), Rebellin (CCC), Asquez (CJR) and best rider in the GC Maté (KAT). they are probably looking for the KOM jersey, as a rider finishing in the top 2 on both early climbs will receive more than the stage win.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0282_zpskst921cw.jpg

At the intermediate sprint the already have 7 minutes while Maté picks up the points for the respective points jersey.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0283_zpsdkz1pfzg.jpg

Asquez has no trouble picing up the points in front of Hoogerland and Rebellin. The gap has gone down to 6 minutes while Maté is the first rider to drop and to be caught by the peloton.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0284_zpsyu7cweh6.jpg

Asquez repeats this feat at the second climb meaning he’ll wear the KOM jersey tomorrow. Berhane and Hoogerland are second and third. The gap is down to 4 minutes and they probably will be caught before the climb.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0285_zps4hksmim7.jpg
the peloton has the breakaway in sight

The pace is not high enough according to Failli (Neri Sottoli), he’s trying to get clear from the peloton and make an amazing solo.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0286_zpsiowlbzud.jpg
I couldn’t afford a Neri Sottoli jersey

We’ve started the final climb and Gusev and Feillu have attacked from the Peloton. They only have 2 minutes left to the peloton while Failli hasn’t caught the breakaway yet.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0287_zpsrbkxv0n8.jpg

The peloton has also exploded, Scarponi is the first to attack. Pellizotti counters but can’t get in his wheel. Scarponi has no trouble catching Feilli.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0288_zps3oactvbp.jpg

Quintana immediately shows the old man his age and goes over Scarponi. Pellizotti is able to hang on his wheel while Scarponi, De Las Campos and Spilak are just behind him.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0289_zpsfw4tejag.jpg
Owniak (BMC) and Hesjedal (Giant) just watch

Quintana won’t stop at the breakaway and now only Feillu is in front of him. In the “best of the rest” group meanwhile we see that Spilak, Scarponi, De las Campos, Pellizotti, Owniak and Hesjedal have found each other, will need to try to hold the chasers off. La Bestia, Kim, Caruso, Acevedo and Schwabe will need to do the opposite however.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0290_zpsdef5fpgb.jpg

The two peloton chase group have joined up with eachother although Schwabe is dropped and Le Bestia isn’t looking to good. They still need to catch up to the breakaway (22 seconds), the riders that have attacked from the breakaway: Feillu and De Marchi (48 seconds) and Sole leader Quintana (1’12”)

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0291_zpsthi4yhoc.jpg

Quintana still leads the race while the chasers has joined up with the breakaway. Asquez is in front of the chasers while Caruso is barely in front of the expected: Owniak, Kim, Scarponi, Hesjedal and Spilak, Pellizotti and De las Campos

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0292_zps5qv6tkw0.jpg

Owniak seems to be the strongest behind Quintana today. He closed up with Caruso to from the 2nd group with Scarponi not being able to do so. Behind Scarponi we have Kim, Hesjedal, Spilak and Asquez

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0293_zpshqelj7dl.jpg

Nario Quintana wins the first stage and takes over the leaders jersey from Champion System.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0297_zpsny8ti6oe.jpg

Owniak beats Caruso for second place.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0294_zpscqddskur.jpg

Scarponi will take 4th place.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0295_zpseemldiou.jpg

Spilak beats Kim and Hesjedal for 5th while Pellizotti, La Bestia and De las Campos finish 8th, 9th and 10th.

i1302.photobucket.com/albums/ag121/SSJ2Luigi/EPIC/PCM0296_zpsziaqf1o4.jpg

Quintana takes the stage, the overall, the points and youth classifications leads. Owniak will wear the Green, while Aquez leads the KOM competition. Kim will wear the white again. Champion System keeps lead of the team classification.

CCC with a poor stage and the AI will **** up this race for us onwards :/

Owniak close to his first stage win and time to wear the leader jersey. However due to Quintana's presence, he will have to learn from the master Smile

Great to see Caruso on the podium, our top 10 goal should be a wrap. Smile

De las Campos could've done better, but 10th is not too bad.

Though not spectacular it's always nice to get a top 10. Certainly much better than 11th.
Now for Cristiano to hold on to his GC and we'll be fine.

Thanks for a nice report.

Well Alarcon not good enough in this sort of field yet it seems, Asquiez having a great day out in the break though.

Quintana above the rest, but the rest of the podium seems wide open Smile
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

La Bestia ok (remind me when he turned Swiss?) but Asquez Banana great day in the break and points lead?! Trentino xml is weird but I'm not complaining.

Also, he finished 11th ShockAngry
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."
