I don't mind doing Qatar either even though I am entered without a goal, I have a serious team there |

I'll offer up for Qatar as a one off report. Zero interest in the race, plus plenty of reporting experience. Without a lot of WSC i can do more from Part 2 onwards as well

Thanks all for the offers, I'll give Qatar to TMM as his team is not in the race. I might need some more reporters later on though. Jaxika, are ok to do Oman?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Just got back from a trip to Belgium/France for four days so catching up on the results. Rather disappointed with the efforts of the Saxo-Tinkoff boys so far - only 1 top 10 so far, but we have sent rather weak startlists to both TdU and especially San Luis so were never really hoping for much.
On the other hand, really pleased about how Riquelme is doing, having a really great TdU so far - looks like I balanced his stats pretty well

Weather report
30°C, dry and sunny, very hard NW wind
Race report
151kms to go: Immediately after the start, Lastras attacks.
147kms to go: Some more attacks from the pack, Golas, Preidler, Schär, Van Hecke, Stortoni and Bérard try to join Lastras.
133kms to go: Dyachenko attacks from the pack as well. Sutherland and Puccio try as well.
130kms to go: A group of 7 in front: Lastras, Golas, Preidler, Schär, Van Hecke, Stortoni and Bérard.
120kms to go: The other 3 join up, but the pack tries to reel the group of 10 in.
100kms to go: The break isn't giving up. The gap stabilizes around 1min20.
95kms to go: Some hard crosswinds already cause trouble in the pack, but no riders are dropped yet.
90kms to go: Puccio wins sprint 1 after jumping away from the group. Golas comes second.
88kms to go: The pack seems to finally give the escapees some air. The gap is already 2 minutes.
85kms to go: Puccio is rejoined by the other 9 riders.
78kms to go: Belkin, Omega Pharma and Katusha use the hard wind as opportunity for echelons. The gap of the break therefore decreases again.
53kms to go: Even in the break the pace is very high. Only Schär, Lastras and Golas can remain in front.
48kms to go: Golas wins intermediate sprint 2.
47kms to go: Schär is dropped by Golas and Lastras.
40kms to go: All escapees apart from Lastras, Golas and Schär are reeled in now.
37kms to go: Schär is reeled in as well. Lastras and Golas still have a minute.
27kms to go: Kroon, Aru and Flecha attack. Almost immediately they reach the duo still left in front.
25kms to go: At the foot of the Old Willunga Hill, all escapees are reeled in.
24kms to go: Vichot is the first attacker on the ascent itself.
23kms to go: Dani Moreno now attacks
22kms to go: He reaches the top with a gap of about 20 seconds.
20kms to go: Moreno is reeled in already.
3.5kms to go: A quite race now, but that was before the final ascent of the Old Willunga Hill, which starts now.
1.7kms to go: Moreno, Meersman and Gasparotto get a gap of 15 seconds.
1km to go: Moreno launches his sprint, while Vanendert joined the leaders in the back of the group. The gap to Jungels is just 17 seconds though.
0.5kms to go: Moreno gets really tired. Henao suddenly shows in front, together with Gasparotto.
Finish: Moreno hangs on! He takes the stage win with a gap of 36 seconds to Jungels. Gasparotto 2nd, Henao 3rd.
(I didn't take a screen of that, forgot it All was quite clear though.
Meersman surprises by hanging on in the leaders group, seizing the leaders jersey! Moreno's bonus is the mountains jersey after all this.

Had hoped for slightly more than Antón dropping a spot in the GC, but another top 10 and a GC top 10 oretty much secured is decent enough as well!
And Verboven up to 13th. Waffles for everyone if he wins the last stage and jumps to the GC top 10

Meersman keeps surprising! Too bad fpr Riquelme, I was hoping he would hang on.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Wow, that's one close GC . It goes without saying that Katusha won, what a start they have had.
And Schär is a madman. 36th for Oss is our best result so far, the only way is up. |

Meersman attacking on Willunga Hill, that's odd and exciting at the same time. If one of the first 5 riders gets in a breakaway tomorrow or in the first 3 at the finish, we can have a different GC. But with his sprint, Meersman seems set to win TDU. Nice tour so far .

Another 11th place.
Moser top 15 in GC isn't bad, but would've liked a top 10. |
