Rather heavy rain late in the race made it difficult for some GC favourites (Herklotz, Svendsen, Kozhatayev, Soler) to post decent times.
Flakemore was slightly affected by it as well so it's actually more impressive.
Rain also meant Kung and Eisenhart, who were probably two of the three main favourites for the stage aside from Flakemore, were also unable to post decent times.

Another talented guy, Bauhaus, wins the last stage in the Baltic Chain Tour. Van der Poel wins the overall.

Well, rain also meant Carlos Ramirez, U23 ITT champion... Lopez being 13th is a surprise to me... wait until we get to the mountains... poor europeans will be trying to keep his pace.. its insane when he looks up..

Looking forward to see Lopez in the mountains! From what I have heard, he should be extremely talented, but maybe not ready to race in Europe yet? Either way, it seems there are a lot of mountain stages, so he should do fine I suppose |

Van Der Poel looks insane. Try to look this guy up on ProCyclingStats. |

Don't you know Van der Poel?
Was extremely dominant in the junior ranks along side Mads Pedersen

Breakaway win on the first stage of l'Avenir. Don't know why Australia didn't work for the bunch sprint having both the leader jersey and the best sprinter in the race.
A crash in the end with some gc riders involved

Ewan wins stage 2. Some small splits in the peloton.

Another 2nd place for Cort Nielsen as the British sprinter McLay takes the victory.

4k to go on the first mountain stage, about 20 guys left in a more or less attackless favourites group. Power had to change bikes twice but seems to be in it, Lunke and Svendsen have been dropped though (possibly working for Eiking?). Oomen and Davidenok from the break still a bit ahead.
And as I say this Herklotz seems to be gone -.-

That Rok Korosec guy seems to be another good upcoming talent from Radenska. Honestly, didn't know about him until now. Definitely someone to follow in next couple of years.

Davidenok, winner of Tour of Qinghai Lake and the Kazakh Elite Road Championships, wins the first mountain stage. Oomen also very good in 2nd in front of some more familiar names like López and Latour.
Power attacked with Latour on the last climb. López caught them later on.
Edit: Davidenok and Oomen were part of a breakaway.

Told you so...
Lopez said minutes ago, heard him in radio, he was very happy, because today he wanted to see his rivals for GC, he took it slow and calm and didnt force himself, he also was surprised because he expected a harder pace uphill, and said he's ready to take control of the race by using a harder pace to eliminate rivals...
He is now in yellow and if he stills healthy and strong he can have a good result...

So Herklotz lost 4 minutes on every serious contender...
brb, crying in a corner until Degenkolb wins the stage and makes today slightly bearable
