He clearly didn't see Izaguirre's time trials during TdF.

I am hearing that Jon Izaguirre is the new race leader after the conclusion of Stage 5. Though considering how reliable Poland has been so far you can decide how well you trust the Tour de Pologne's official Twitter account.
Shall await confirmation via other sources. |

yup he's the new leader - he won 1 KoM and he was 2nd on another one and got -10secs bon. from the new race appeal. I like this new thing.

Izzaguire got 10 bonus seconds with the attacking bonus thingy. 30 seconds went to Marczynski, 20 secs to other Polish dude.
Now being fair, it's both good and bad thing for Majka. Bad that Izzaguire has the lead, and if he doesn't falter tomorrow, he should win Tour De Pologne.
Good thing though, Saxo bar Sorensen is preety weak, so not having yellow will benefit him, anyway his chances of winning were always slim.
Riblon is looking like a monster though, and obviosuly Henao is keeping up the high level.
However it's looking likier Izzaguire will get his first big stage racing win.

So I know the competition for Phinney, Hushovd, and Van Avermaet at the Tour de Pologne and Tour de Wallonie has been no where near as tough the competition BMC faced at the Tour de France...
However, it must burn BMC somewhat to be seeing these three doing so well, when we know that at the least Van Avermaet wanted in on the Tour team.
They sure are doing a great job making up for BMC's Tour de France failures though. |

As i recall it, it is a hilly individual time trial as the last stage, right? Considering Majka's Giro TT's, I think he might have a chance? Am I the only one?

There were very few finishes suited to Avermeat or Hushvod at the Tour, and if there were they aren't fast enough to beat Sagan anyway.
So better for them to get those wins than few random Tour places, they needed wins after disappointing season so far and they are finally getting into their stride.

Yes.
Only the first half of the course is hilly, the rest is pan flat.

Well it begins hilly and technical, but is flat for last 12 km, as Majka says. Its tougher than it might look, plus he knows it by heart so it should aid him.
Still Izzaguire and Riblon are far better TT'ers and should beat him.
Nowhere near Giro MTF TTT, shouldn't even be compared. Maybe possibly Giro ITT on stage 8, but he was very ordinary compared to other GC contenders then, for example Henao.

Although it can't be really compared as it did have a hilly finish making it much different to this one. Plus Majka should be even more motviated for this one.

Looking at the last 2 years ITT results Izagirre never really impress me. He is good , but not much stronger than Henao ,Majka and the others... |

Look no further than TdF to find a couple of good TT's from Izagirre. At least I was impressed by him, but that may be the fact that he's an Euskaltel rider.

Henao's Giro timetrial was that ridiculous double TT with Kelderman.
Don't think Majka has to fear Henao

Hushovd stage wins are like buses, none for ages and then two come along in quick succession |

Izaguirre lined up to win a WT stage race? This is pretty much the best news.

But it still won't be enough to save Euskaltel from the scrap heap |

Great stuff from Izaguirre so far, also Majka and Henao look to be good (maybe too soon before Vuelta?).
Honestly i expected more from Stybar in Poland, stages that went to Hushovd looked perfect for him. Maybe today he can do something in hills. On the other hand he is 35th in GC, not bad for such a powerhouse.
König is also rather disappointing, but he has still lot of time left since Vuelta important stages.

Stage 6 - Bukowina Tatrzańska Circuit (192 KM)
A challenging parcours awaits the peloton in Stage 6 of the Tour de Pologne, as the riders tackle no less than fifteen difficult ascents. Journeying through the commune of Bukowina Tatrzańska, the peloton shall race a massive five lap 38.4km, 192km in total, circuit through the hills of Southern Poland.
With ten King of the Mountain sprints spread throughout the route the Tauron “Best Climber” classification shall be decisively decided today. With the Category 1 climbs of the Ząb and Gliczarów Górny crested five times, there will be a grand total of 100 points on offer in the “Best Climber” classification.
There will be little respite for the peloton as they constantly ascend one climb to descend in to the beginning of another. With three difficult climbs in the Ząb, Gliczarów Górny and Bukowina Tatrzańska, the hardness and length of the parcours should severely whittle down the numbers in the peloton by the stage's end. Stage 6 shall begin with the descent of the Bukowina Tatrzańska and conclude on the ascent of the Bukowina Tatrzańska.
Categorised Climbs of the Day
Whilst there are just three climbs featured in the five lap circuit; these three climbs will severely challenge the form, fitness, and ability of each rider. The Ząb will be the first climb encountered out along the stage route. The Ząb, at a length of 5.5km, features an inconsistent gradient suited to punchy climbers, with the gradient topping out at 21.5% nearing the middle end of the climb.
Following the Ząb will be the equally challenging Gliczarów Górny. At a length of 4.5km, the Gliczarów Górny also features an inconsistent gradient favourable to punchy climbers. Gliczarów Górny features a lower maximum gradient, but features more sectors at an average gradient 6-8%. Taking in to consideration the rapid approach of each climb after the last, the legs of the riders could well and truly still be hurting from the last climb.
The final climb for the day, and the location of Stage 6's finishing line, is the Bukowina Tatrzańska. Whilst arguably easier than the other two climbs for the day, the fact that it arrives in short order after the ascents of the Ząb and Gliczarów Górny will ensure it is harder than it appears on paper. At a length of 5km, it is another climb featuring an inconsistent gradient, with the gradient soaring to bursts of 11.5% and average gradients of 8.1%.
Another potentially difficult day when it comes to choosing a definitive favourite for the stage victory. There should be a number of different situations at play over the course of the stage. One possibility involves the breakaway stealing the limelight should those in the peloton focus too intently on keeping their powder dry by attacks from other General Classification contenders.
Should the breakaway be caught, we could witness a similar attack to that witnessed on yesterday's Stage 5. However, should one of the General Classification contenders be involved a new breakaway may have trouble getting away. With the General Classification contenders busy focusing on each other, it would however be a good time for an outsider to break clear and cycle to a stage victory.
The parcours for Stage 6 seem a bit too difficult for one of the sprinters to unexpectedly claim the stage victory. However, one does have trouble ruling out the likes of Thor Hushovd with how well he has been climbing and sprinting in the Tour de Pologne. So the final scenario that could play out would involve the General Classification contenders and their teams keeping the front of the race together by riding a high tempo at the front of the peloton throughout the stage.
With just the individual time trial left, this shall be the last opportunity left for those weaker in the individual time trial than their rivals to gain time. So regardless of whoever eventually claims the victory at the conclusion of Stage 6, we should see some attempted attacks from the General Classification contenders. With this being the penultimate stage of the 2013 Tour de Pologne, someone like Darwin Atapuma (Colombia-Coldeportes) may be able to finally break free of the grasp of the General Classification contenders and ride to victory.
A day for the General Classification contenders to come to the fore? Or will someone far down the standings attack and claim the stage victory? Perhaps we could see Vincenzo Nibali test himself once again ahead of la Vuelta a Espana? Though there is the chance the breakaway could make it all the way if the peloton falls in to disorganisation and ride at a lower tempo than the breakaway. |

That Terma Hotel Spa is pretty cool. Went there after walking all day to and from Morskie Oko and was sure worth it to relax a bit. God how I miss Poland.
Should be a good stage. Henao's my bet.
